Analysis of Symmetric Coupled Line with New Crossbar Embedded on Si-based Lossy Structure using the FDTD Method (실리콘에 기초한 새로운 크로스바 구조의 손실있는 대칭 결합선로에 대한 유한차분법을 이용한 해석)

  • A characterization procedure for analyzing symmetric coupled MIS(Metal-Insulator-Semiconductor) transmission line is used the same procedure as a general single layer symmetric coupled line with perfect dielectric substrate from the extraction of the characteristic impedance and propagation constant for even- and odd-mode. In this paper, an analysis for a new substrate shielding symmetric coupled MIS structure consisting of grounded crossbar at the interface between Si and SiO2 layer using the Finite- Difference Time-Domain(FDTD) method is presented. In order to reduce the substrate effects on the transmission line characteristics, a shielding structure consisting of grounded crossbar lines over time-domain signal has been examined. Symmetric coupled MIS transmission line parameters for even- and odd-mode are investigated as the functions of frequency, and the extracted distributed frequency- dependent transmission line parameters and corresponding equivalent circuit parameters as well as quality factor for the new MIS crossbar embedded structure are also presented. It is shown that the quality factor of the symmetric coupled transmission line can be improved without significant change in the characteristic impedance and effective dielectric constant.

  • Nonlinear filters which are utilized rank-order information and temporal-order information, have many proposed, in order to restore nonstationary signals which are corrupted by additive noise. In this paper, we propose a data-dependent LWOS filter whose coefficients change based on local statistics. LWOS(Linear Combination of Weighted Order Statistics) filters[1]which also utilized two informations, and have properties of efficient impulsive and nonimpulsive noise attenuation and sufficiently details and edges preservation. DD-LWOS filters can remove non-impulsive oises while preserving signal details. DD-LWOS2 filter gets more better performance than DD-LWOS filter when input image corrupted by additive noise which includes Impulsive noise components.

  • In this paper, using diplexer structure and varactor diode controlled by reverse bias voltage for diplexer switch gives possibilities to improve isolation and current characteristics. 1 have newly designed switch with high isolation by application varactor diode corresponding to capacitor of diplexer. The low-pass filter for proposed tunable diplexer passes the microwave signal in the bandwidth for wireless cellular network systems and high-pass filter passes it in the bandwidth for wireless personal communication services (PCS) network systems. As the capacitance of the low-pass filter increases, the cut-off frequency can be moved to low frequency, so that the switch is on state in cellular bandwidth and off state in the PCS bandwidth, in contrast to, as the capacitance for attenuation characteristic of high-pass filter increases, it can be moved to high frequency, so that the switch is off state and on state in the cellular bandwidth. it is possible to improve isolation and current consumption characteristics by application diplexer design methods and varactor diode. 1 expect that the tunable diplexer circuit and design methods should be able to find applications on MMIC and low temperature copired ceramic (LTCC).

  • Active thermography is being used since several years for remote non-destructive testing. It provides thermal images for remote detection and imaging of damages. Also, it is based on propagation and reflection of thermal waves which are launched from the surface into the inspected component by absorption of modulated radiation. For energy deposition, it use external heat sources (e.g., halogen lamp or convective heating) or internal heat generation (e.g., microwaves, eddy current, or elastic wave). Among the external heat sources, the ultrasound is generally used for energy deposition because of defect selective heating up. The heat source generating a thermal wave is provided by the defect itself due to the attenuation of amplitude modulated ultrasound. A defect causes locally enhanced losses and consequently selective heating up. Therefore amplitude modulation of the injected ultrasonic wave turns a defect into a thermal wave transmitter whose signal is detected at the surface by thermal infrared camera. This way ultrasound thermography(UT) allows for selective defect detection which enhances the probability of defect detection in the presence of complicated intact structures. In this paper the applicability of UT for fast defect detection is described. Examples are presented showing the detection of defects in PCB material. Measurements were performed on various kinds of typical defects in PCB materials (both Cu metal and non-metal epoxy). The obtained thermal image reveals area of defect in row of thick epoxy material and PCB.

A Study on the Field Strength Prediction of a Ground-wave Based Time Broadcasting Transmitter Station in the Korean Peninsula

  • In this study, to improve an existing ground-wave based time broadcasting system, a study that predicts the field distribution and field strength of the transmitted signal of a new ground-wave based time broadcasting system was performed. The prediction area was assumed to be the Korean peninsula; and to reflect the mountainous terrain of the Korean peninsula in the prediction of the variations of field distribution and field strength, a new prediction method based on the Monteath model was proposed and utilized. As field distribution changes depending on the position of a transmitter station, potential sites for the transmitter station were selected considering the geographical characteristics. In this regard, the ground conductivity information of North Korea cannot be obtained, and thus, the ground conductivity of the North Korean region was reflected considering the geological characteristics of South Korea and North Korea. Based on this, the variations of field distribution and field strength were predicted by setting the Korean peninsula as the prediction area, and the prediction results depending on the position of the transmitter station were discussed.

  • In this paper, a novel IQ modulator that precisely controls the magnitude and phase of input signals is proposed. The proposed IQ modulator consists of low phase deviation attenuators, a splitter, and a combiner. In order to overcome the phase deviation characteristics found in conventional attenuators, a novel phase compensation technique has been adopted and mathematically analyzed. Linear vector arrays along the center point with large magnitude output signal variations in a full $360^{\circ}$ phase control are achieved on a polar plane by the proposed IQ modulator.

  • In his paper, we have developed the SMD(surface mounted device) type PECL(positive emitter-coupled logic) VCXO of the $5{\times}7mm$ size for gratifying the requested specifications and the multilayer ceramic SMD(surface mounted device) package technology. The VCXO wired with the PECL(positive emitter coupled logic) package take place a stray inductance and a parasitic capacitance by the length and the inner pattern of the VCXO and the amplitude attenuation and signal loss due to the reflection of power source and the noise component. We have developed the Zig system to analyze the precise spectrum and evaluate the performance. The basic operating voltage is the 3.3 V and have the frequency range of 120MHz-180MHz. The Q factor is over 5K and it has the low jitter characteristics of 3.5 ps and low phase noise.

  • We report the radiological findings of regional enhancement of the liver adjacent to the right adrenal pheochromocytoma. CT and MRI showed focal strong enhancement of adjacent liver tissue in the arterial phase. However during the delayed phase, the lesion showed iso-attenuation with normal hepatic parenchyma and not delineated. The lesion did not show abnormal signal intensity on neither T1 nor T2 weighted images and indistinguishable from normal parenchyma. The enhancing hepatic lesion was spontaneously regressed on postoperative follow up CT which was taken several months after the adrenalectomy.

  • In this paper, we propose a dynamic tree formation protocol for multiple UAV which is gathering data or accomplishing a mission such as disaster monitoring, environment monitoring, and disaster relief. Especilly, we designed Hop-LQI Weight algorithm to form optimal tree in wireless dynamic environment applying situation of radio signal attenuation over distance and implemented our algorithm in MSP 430 K-mote sensor platform using TinyOS codes. We verified performance of our algorithm by comparing average link setup time by the number of nodes with minimum LQI, link cost calculation method in wireless communication.

  • Lighting control switches based on the power line communication technology are developed and extended to incorporate dimming control to provide energy saving and appropriate illumination. The developed switch uses a general purpose microprocessor and associated electronics. Both the power line communication and the dimming function are implemented in one microprocessor, and it enables the low price commercialization. The frequency of the carrier was set at 250kHz considering the transmission data length and signal attenuation in power lines. Tests on prototypes in an low-voltage power lines have shown that the switches have a robust operation characteristics with the length of power lines and the variation of load capacities.
