This study was performed to evaluate the effect of the shrinkage stress induced by polymerization process of several light curing filling materials according to filling methods. High power light curing unit which has a plasma arc lamp was used and filling materials used were Filtek $Z-250^{(R)}$ composite resin, $Dyract^{(R)}$ AP compomer and $Tetric^{(R)}$ Flow flowable composite resin. Cavities were prepared on the permanent molars with width 3 mm, height 3 mm and depth 1.5 mm and the filling materials were filled with 1 step, 2 step layering technique and 3 step oblique filling methods. The results can be summarized as follows; 1. Strain values showed rapid increase from the start of light curing followed by gradual decrease afterwards with time. 2. Although the shrinkage stress value of $Z-250^{(R)}$ were shown to be relatively higher than $Dyract^{(R)}$ AP and $Tetric^{(R)}$ Flow, no statistically significant could be found between tested materials(p>0.05). 3. There were no statistically significant difference between 3 filling methods when using $Dyract^{(R)}$ AP and $Z-250^{(R)}$(p>0.05). 4. There were no statistically significant difference between shrinkage stress values obtained from samples prepared by different filling methods and materials(p>0.05).

The purpose of this study was to examine the change of dyeing ability by K/S values, when dyed in different twisting processes and by one bath system and two bath system, to find possible ways of minimizing the color difference between cotton and polyester in composite yarn. The two types of composite yarn, which had one setting process(CP1) and two setting processes(CP2) were dyed with reactive/disperse dyes in both one bath dyeing system and two bath system. The dyeing ability according to the two different twisting processes was measured, and the values of the CP1 were higher compare to the values of CP2 in both one and two bath dyeing systems. This is because CP1 applied only one setting could shrink dyeing process at 130$^{circ}C$. This shrinkage increased the number of twists in the unit length and increased the yarn density, and this is the reason that the K/S values were measured higher than those of CP2. In wet shrinkage test, in opposition to CP2 only had 0.76$\%$ of the shrinkage rate, CP1 had 3.00$\%$ of the shrinkage rate. Also, the dyeing ability according to the two different dyeing methods was measured, and the values of CP1 and CP2 were both higher when dyed in two bath system. On the other hand, the color differences between cotton and polyester in composite yarns, were smaller for CP2 than that for CP1 and were also smaller in two bath dyeing system than in one bath dyeing system. Therefore, the ways of minimizing color difference between cotton and polyester in composite yarn are to apply enough setting in order to minimize shrinkage in dyeing process and to choose two bath dyeing system.

Wood shrinkage, an important study subject with regard to the use of wood, has long been studied by researchers. However, when the size of a wood specimen is measured, distortion must be taken into account, which can be accomplished by applying external force on the wood specimen. However, when measuring a large number of specimens, this technique can be a lengthy process. If the size is measured and the shrinkage is calculated from images acquired with a flatbed scanner, it is possible to reduce the error in the measurement and to shorten the measurement time because the images of many specimens can be acquired with one scan. To clearly establish the boundary between a wood specimen and the background in a scan, an image threshold method was applied here. The size of a wood specimen measured by means of a scanner image was found to be longer than the value determined with a vernier caliper. The maximum pixel size of a scan image for highly accurate shrinkage calculations compared with the use of a vernier caliper was 0.053 mm/pixel.
High-performance concrete (HPC), which is particularly sensitive to self-desiccation, is required to be durable even in severe environmental conditions, i.e. costal area, cold district, etc. However, in recent years, some attention was particularly given to cracking sensitivity of high performance concrete at early age. It has been argued and demonstrated experimentally that such concrete undergoes autogenous shrinkage due to self-desiccation at early age under restrained condition, nd, as a result, internal tensile stress may develop, leading to micro cracking and macro cracking. This shrinkage-introduced crack produces a major serviceability problem for concrete structures. One possible method to reduce cracking due to autogenous shrinkage is the addition of expansive additive. Tests conducted by many researches have shown the beneficial effects of addition of expansive additive for reducing the risk of autogenous shrinkage-introduced cracking. However, the research on hydration model of expansion additive has been hardly researched up to now. This paper presents a study of the hydration model of Ettringite-Gypsum type expansive additive. As a result of comparing forecast values with experiment value, proposed model is shown to expressible of hydration of expansive additive.

When a concrete structure is subjected to load, its response is both immediate and time dependent. Under sustained load, the deformation of a structure gradually increases with time and eventually may be many time greater than its instantanneous value. The gradual development of strain with time is caused by creep and shrinkage. On this study, to estimate of stress variations on time effects in partially prestressed concrete composite girder bridges, computer program applied Age-adjusted Effective Modulus Method(AEMM) in used.

The fundamental properties of High Performance Concrete(HPC) were studied using high flowable portland cement which was developed at the Sangyong Cement Ind. Co.,Ltd. The results obtained are as follows. (1)The slump of HPC using high flowable portland cement maintains for 120min. (2)Ultra high strength greater than 800kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ can be designed without using silica fume and other additives. (3)The value of drying shrinkage and adiabatic temperature rise of HPC are less than those of concrete made with OPC.
Basic research on the formation of monolithic glasses from metal alkoxide has been done concerning gelling of silicon alkoxides and dehydration of those gells. The felling time were increased with increasing of Carbon number of alkyl radical of alkoxide and am-ount of water and the lower pH value of water. Large portions of water and organic materials were rem-oved below 25$0^{\circ}C$ and shrinkage of glass took place above 80$0^{\circ}C$ Therefore heating up to 25$0^{\circ}C$ and above 75$0^{\circ}C$ must be done gradually with rate of 0.5$^{\circ}C$/min.

Polymerization shrinkage of photoinitiation type composite resin cause several clinical problems. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the shrinkage strain stress, linear polymerization shrinkage, compressive strength and microhardness of recently developed composite resins. The composite resins were divided into four groups according to the contents of matrix and filler type. Group I : $Denfil^{TM}$(Vericom, Korea) with conventional matrix, Group II : $Charmfil^{(R)}$(Dentkist, Korea) with microfiller and nanofller mixture, Group III : $Filtek^{TM}$ Z250(3M-ESPE, USA) TEGDMA replaced by UDMA and Bis-EMA(6) in the matrix, and Group IV : $Filtek^{TM}$ Supreme(3M-ESPE, USA) using pure nanofiller. Preparation of acrylic molds were followed by filling and curing with light gun. Strain gauges were attached to each sample and the leads were connected to a strainmeter. With strainmeter shrinkage strain stress and linear polymerization shrinkage was measured for 10 minutes. The data detected at 1 minute and 10 minutes were analysed statistically with ONE-way ANOVA test. To evaluate the mechanical properties of tested materials, compressive hardness test and microhardness test were also rendered. The results can be summarized as follows : 1. Filling materials in acrylic molds showed initial temporary expansion in the early phase of polymerization. This was followed by contraction with the rapid increase in strain stress during the first 1 minute and gradually decreased during post-gel shrinkage phase. After 1 minute, there's no statistical differences of strain stress between groups. The highest strain stress was found in group IV and followed by group III, I, II at 10 minutes-measurement(p>.05). In regression analysis of strain stress, group III showed minimal inclination and followed by group II, I, IV during 1 minute. 2. In linear polymerization shrinkage test, the composite resins in every group showed initial increase of shrinkage velocity during the first 1 minute, followed by gradually decrease of shrinkage velocity. After 1 minute, group IV and group III showed statistical difference(p<.05). After 10 minutes, there were statistical differences between group IV and group I, III(p<.05) and between group II and group III(p<.05). In regression analysis of linear polymerization shrinkage, group II showed minimal inclination and followed by group IV, III, I during 1 minute. 3. In compressive strength test, group III showed the highest strength and followed by group II, IV, I. There were statistical differences between group III and group IV, I(p<.05). 4. In microhardness test, upper surfaces showed higher value than lower surfaces in every group(p<.05).
The woven fabric composed of nylon 6 filaments was treated with aqueous solutions (20, 30, 40, 50, 60%) of formic acid at 3$0^{\circ}C$ for 10 minutes under unrestrained condition, and the shrinkage behavior and some kinds of properties were examined. The shrinkages of the constituent yarns and fabric were increased with formic acid concentration, but they were lower than that of the original filaments because of fabric-structural factors. And the shrinkage of the warp was lower than that of the weft because of the residual stress from weaving process. By the restraint forces such as fabric-structural factors and residual stress, the constituent filaments were damaged partially at 60% of formic acid concentration and the degree of damage on the warp was greater than on the weft. And though the fabric count were increased overall, the spacing between the warps was decreased prior to the weft and eliminated nearly at 60% of formic acid concentration. The thickness, tensile strength, elongation, and handle value of fabric were increased overall with formic acid concentration excepting that the tensile strength for both the warp and weft directions and the elongation for the warp direction were decreased instead by the damage of yarns. But the crease recovery was decreased except the case of the weft direction at 60% of formic acid concentration.
In this study we investigated stress development and shrinkage of thickness for a single $PbTiO_3$(PT) layer prepared by sol-gel processing. Changes of microhardness for multideposited PT layers with temperatures are also monitored to understand the densification of thin films. Single PT layer shrank rapidly from room temperature to$ 220^{\circ}C$ yielding 83% of total shrinkage observed up to $500^{\circ}C$. A tensile stress of ~75MPa developed in an as-spun layer, and increased steadily beyond $130^{\circ}C$ until it reaches the maximum value of 147MPa at $250^{\circ}C$. The significant decrease of tensile stress in the film beyond $370^{\circ}C$ indicates that thermal expansion mismatch between the film and the substrate dominates the stress behavior in this temperature range. Microhardness of the multideposited coatings also increased rapidly above $300^{\circ}C$ regardless of the pyrolysis temperatures used. Large amount of perovskite phase formed in multideposited coatings after $550^{\circ}C$ may be due partly to enhanced homogeneous nucleation in the thicker coating.
