Since 1990s, these many researchers have been fully involved in developing recycling methods for FRP boats. There are four basic classes of recycling covered in the literature. the first is "Mechanical recycling" which involves shredding and grinding of the scrap FRP in a new product. Despite of the safety hazards, mechanical recycling is one of the simpler and more technically proven methods. Recent researchers should be more interested in these methods. It is fact that most of FRP wastes are depended on incineration or reclamation. Because it Is made up of reinforced fiber glass, it is very difficult to break into pieces. By the disposing of waste FRP this way, it also occurs secondary problem such as air pollution and unacceptable noise. This study is to propose a new method which is efficient and environment friendly waste FRP regenerating.

The end-of-life vehicles (ELV) are important recycling sources, and there are several stages involved in the recycling such as dismantling, shredding, and treatment of shredder residues (ASR). The legal recycling rate should be at least 95% on and after 2015, while we need a proper system to monitor recycling of ELV components and to calculate the practical recycling rate. The paper suggests a monitoring system that calculates practical recycling rates of dismantled components by use of a database of standard recycling rate as well as a web-based monitoring, which is linked to the Eco Assurance system for electric & electronic equipment and vehicle (EcoAS). Also the system supports dismantling and monitoring process by incorporating a standard vehicular component database, which facilitates recording dismantled weight data but also monitoring of dismantled components.

This study aims at evaluating the environmental impacts stemmed from the End-of-Life Vehicle(ELV) treatment systems in Korea, using Life Cycle Assessment(LCA) method. In this study, both environmental burden from the ELV dismantling process & recycling processes and environmental benefit which were derived from the avoided environmental impacts by substituting recycled materials for virgin materials were considered. First of all, the key issues which were defined as the environmental aspects that account for more than $1\%$ out of the total environmental impacts were identified from the Life Cycle Impact Assessment(LCIA). $CO_2$, crude oil, natural gas, coal, etc. were found out to be the key issue parameters. From the LCI Analysis and LCIA studies, it was shown that the significant environmental aspects were related with the recycling process of ferro scrap, the shredding process of compressed car bodies and the dismantling process of end-of-life engines. In particular, the recycling process of ferro scrap has the most significant effects on the environmental impacts of the ELV treatment systems. Based on these results, it is recommended to improve the recycling process of ferro scrap in order to make the ELV treatment systems more environmentally sound.

In this study, we analyzed the problems of existing construction waste shredding technology to diagnose the problems of low quality recycled aggregates and to develop a new mortar peeling technique to produce high-quality recycled coarse aggregate for concrete. The purpose of this study is to verify the effectiveness of mortar peeling technique by doing simulation prior to on-site application and to check the quality properties of recycled coarse aggregate produced by applying a mortar peeling technique. We manufactured and installed High speed Rotating Grinder on-site and analyzed the correlation between mortar adhesion amount, dry density and water absorption rate of recycled coarse aggregate.
The separation of valuable metals from IC chip scrap generated by domestic electronic company was carried out using the mechanical beneficiation such as shredding, crushing, screening and magnetic separation. The distribution of metals in various sizes of crushed IC chip scrap was investigated and metals present in crushed products was separated with the magnetic separator. The particle size distribution of crushed IC chip scrap was 7.5% for +3mm, 17.0% for 3~1mm and 75.5% for -1mm. The weight loss of crushed IC chip scrap was 18% when roasted at $700^{\circ}C$. The content of metals was 96% for +3~1mm, 13% for 1~0.595mm, 3.7% for 0.95~0.5. Au of 99% was present in -1mm crushed IC chip scrap. Ni, Fe, Cu, Sn and Pb were separated from crushed IC chip scrap by the magnetic separator under 700 and 2, 500 Gauss.

Waste refrigerator is the most large amount of item being recycled and the recycling process is the most complicated in WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) because refrigerator is biggest product and consists of various parts and materials such as ferrous, non-ferrous, and plastics. Recently, recycling process of waste refrigerator has been being more complex since large capacity 2 door refrigerators and standing Kimchi refrigerators with various material are distributed on custom market. In addition, recycling of valuable resource from waste refrigerator is mandatory by WEEEs recycling legislation; therefore, high efficiency recycling enough for economic and environment-friendly recovery of valuable resource through present technical situation analysis and comparison of recycling technologies of waste refrigerator with advanced country.
In this study, the results of PBDEs and HBCDs of the products and waste that contain BFRs such as domestic electronic products, automobiles and textile products were compared with international management standards, and their excess rates were calculated. Deca-BDE was detected among the PBDEs in TV rear cover plastics, car seats, automotive interior plastics, and automobile shredding residues of products and waste containing BFRs. The comparison with Basel Convention management standards (1,000 mg/kg) for PBDE-containing wastes (4 types in total) shows that the excess rate of all samples was less than 1.5%. The estimated excess rate compared to the EU and Basel convention management standards (1,000 mg/kg) for PBDEs (4 species + deca-BDE) and TV rear cover plastics was 37.5% (30 of 80 samples exceeded the standards). The estimated excess rate compared to the Basel convention management standards (1,000 mg/kg) for HBCD, building materials products and waste was 15.7% (17 of 108 samples exceeded the standards). In the case of PBDEs, it is necessary to remove only the rear cover of CRT TV among the electric and electronic products and treat it in the flame retardant treatment facility to improve the recycling collection system. In the case of HBCD, it is necessary to appropriately dispose of the recycled materials, heat insulation materials, TV plastics, and styrofoam in marine fishery among construction materials and restrict the use as recycled raw materials.

There are several basic classes of recycling methods for FRP boats. The main one is 'Mechanical recycling' which involves shredding and grinding of the scrap FRP in a new product. That is one of the simpler and more technically proven methods. It recently has been reported that FRP can be recycled by separating into layers instead of crushing into powder. Many researchers should be more interested in these mechanical recycling for the eligibility. Nevertheless, because resins is very useful renewable energy, most of waste FRP regenerating methods depend on incineration (reclamation) or thermal recycling (pyrolysis). FRP is made up of laminated glass- fiber (roving cloth layer) which is also very unlikely to break into each layer. If there is an extracting method which is efficient and environment friendly removing glass fiber from waste FRP, it should also solve the another urgent problem. Laminated glass-fiber which is very limited renewable, is a serious barrier to wast FRP boat regenerating. This study is to propose a new extracting method which is efficient and environment friendly waste FRP regenerating system. And it should be applied to renewable energy applications with the waste resins of FRP. Also recycling glass fiber obtained by the separation of the roving layer from waste FRP will be consider to be useful for concrete products or structures.

Frangible bullets, which are shredded after impact on a target, reduce the possibility of both ricochet and unexpected injury in shooting training and in mission acts in dams, nuclear power plants, and cultural properties. Reducing the levels of hazardous materials in shooting ranges, such as lead, has become an important agenda for the government and environmental groups. In this study, the shape of a frangible bullet was designed for efficient shredding, and the safety and reliability were confirmed by actual firing under different process conditions. In addition, the physical characteristics, such as compaction pressure, density, and frangibility of each process, were compared by analyzing the microstructure of the sintered frangible bullet. The experiment revealed the smallest fragmentation after impact on the target under the following conditions: Cu-Sn 85:15; sintering temperature, 600℃; sintering time, one hour. Further development of the process conditions and experimental methods will contribute to the performance and environmental improvement of a frangible bullet.

During the peeling, cutting, and shredding of wild root vegetables, the surface is exposed to air. This results in a rapid deterioration in quality and an increase in the potential of contamination by microorganisms, both of which reduce the shelf-life of wild root vegetables in retail markets. Thus, in this study, the effects of various washing treatments on the quality of wild root vegetables, including lotus root, burdock root, and bellflower root, were investigated at 10 and $24^{\circ}C$. Lotus root, burdock root and bellflower root were washed with 0.2% acetic acid (AA), 0.2% citric acid (CA), 500 ppm acidified sodium chlorite (ASC), and tap water (TW), which was used as a control, and stored at $10^{\circ}C$ and $24^{\circ}C$. The changes in total plate counts, coliform groups, polyphenol oxidase (PPO) activity, color, pH, and exterior appearance of the samples were then evaluated. The pH and initial microbial contamination levels were reduced when the root vegetables were washed with AA, CA, and ASC. In particular, initial population levels of total plate counts and coliform groups were not detected in lotus root and burdock root that had been washed with ASC and their growth was significantly (p<0.05) inhibited during storage at 10 and $24^{\circ}C$ when compared to the control (TW). In addition, the polyphenol oxidase (PPO) activities of the root vegetables washed with AA, CA and ASC were lower than that of root vegetables washed with TW. ASC was determined to be the most effective treatment for preventing microbial growth, tissue softening, and the development of browning and an unpleasant smell. At $10^{\circ}C$, the overall qualities of the wild root vegetables were maintained longer when compared to $24^{\circ}C$.
