It is evident that Korea will continue its battle with water shortage and alternative program are being taken into action. One of the main actions is reusing 1,800 tons of effluent of 357 sewage treatment plant located nationwide. Therefore this study supplemented ozone oxidation methods that would increase the efficiency of organic oxidation and coagulation. Through this method, fouling will be controled sufficiently by preventing membrane process in the system for advanced sewage treatment. In this study, ozone-coagulation-microfiltration membrane were used. The final removal efficiency of the pretreated water from the result of the ozone-coagulation were 50% of CODcr, 38% of TP and 11% of TOC respectively. Water quality treatment has decreased about 80% for TP. Ozone-coagulation-microfiltration membrane maintains the high flux while decreasing the number of organic matter and the membrane fouling, and reducing the TP. As a result, in order to reuse the water from the sewage, the ozone-coagulation-microfiltration membrane type must be considered in order to achieve the best efficiency.
The sewage treatment plants to be built to improve the water quality of the Mankyung River will total 11, of which combined capacity will reach $39,850m^3/day$, and saying in detail, 5 at Gunsan city, 2 at Iksan city, 1 at Kimje city and 3 at Wanju gun, The scenario for water quality improvement was developed, considering the conditions of plant operation ratio and the accomplishment of the water quality target (BOD 4.4 mg/L, T-P 0.356 mg/L) at the end of the watershed of Mankyung B was predicted, making use of QUAL2E model. As a result of prediction using QUAL2E model based on scenarios with 70% and 100% of operation ratio, respectively, at 11 plants in 2010, the water quality at the watershed of Mankyung B was estimated at 4.322 mg/L which was lower than the target of BOD 4.4 mg/L, indicating the target water quality was achieved, when it comes to 70% of operation ratio, But in case of T-P, it was estimated at 0.565 mg/L, which was higher than the target. When it comes to 100% of operation ratio, T-P also was 0.563 mg/L which exceeded the target, 0.356 mg/L. As indicated above, the effect of water quality improvement appeared very insignificant, which was attributable to the limit of small scale sewage treatment plant in total reduction capacity. Hence, the measures for additional reduction in a bid to achieve the target water quality of T-P at the designated location need to be taken, and the measures to build the Sewage treatment facilities at the place where the pollution is significantly caused by T-P appeared to be required as well.

It is difficult to use average sewage water quality as a design parameter for the individual sewage wastewater treatment plant(ISWTP), because sewage water quality is very various according to the building use type. So, in this study, we estimated daily, seasonal and weekly trend of sewage water quality and flow rate in various kind of building to comprehend operating state of ISWTP. The sewage water quality and flow rate were higher in the business building than household building. The seasonal difference of the water quality was not detected but that of flow rate was high. The flow rate of the sewage in the business building was higher in summer than in other seasons and in weekend than in weekday. The treatment efficiency of IWSTP was about $70{\sim}80%$ with BOD, $40{\sim}50%$ with TN and TP, which was very low. The unit loads of the individual house were 36.05 gpcd with BOD, 37.91 gpcd with SS, 23.91 gpcd with T-N, and 7.90 gpcd with T-P respectively, and those values were higher than other studies. It is because, as distinct from other studies, sewage water quality was monitored at the inlet point of the IWSTP in this study. We can use this results as an one of basic parameters for the design of IWSTP.

In this study, on-site sewage treatment tests were conducted using the Absorbent Biofilter System (ABS) under different hydraulic loading rates to examine its treatment characteristics and efficiencies and to determine its feasibility as a small on-site sewage treatment system in a rural area. Results showed that the removal rates of BOD and SS were satisfactory at hydraulic loading rates of 100~150 cm/day, meeting the Korean effluent water quality standards for the riparian zone (10 mg/L). In the case of nutrients (N, P), however, the system did not perform well, necessitating further improvement for nutrient removal. A comparative analysis indicated that as a small on-site sewage treatment system, the ABS would be more suitable than other treatment systems in terms of performance stability, maintenance requirement, and cost-effectiveness and could be applied as an alternative treatment system in Korean rural areas.

As the result of reviewing the linked treatment of water quality for treating process at public livestock wastewater treatment facilities for fair selection of the proper linked process in case of linking sewage treatment plant for livestock wastewater, in case of wastewater processed by bio-reactor that is only biologically-treated, the load factor showed relatively high as 1.67%(base on design quality), 2.59%(base on operation quality) regarding COD and 3.69%(base on design quality), 7.67%(base on operation quality) regarding $COD_{Mn}$ but it is judged that there is nearly no influence on the operation of sewage treatment plan. And, in case of oxidized flotation-treated water & biofiltlation-treated water that are the advanced wastewater treatment, the load factor is approximately 1% and there is concern about the installation of excessive facilities in case of installing the advanced wastewater treatment. So, in case of considering the economic efficiency & stable operation of sewage treatment plant S, it is judged to be desirable to link with wastewater processed by bio-reactor that is biologically-treated.

This study is an analysis about BOD, COD, SS, T-N, T-P of 4Stage-BNR, MLE + CS(Coagulating Sedimentation), Bio-SAC BNR method of construction for 3 largest sewage treatment plants among 12 sewage treatment plants in Incheon. The purpose of this study is improving the operational effectiveness for Incheon sewage treatment plant by introducing the optimized method for quality of the discharged water.
This pilot study evaluated fueling feasibility of sewage sludge, which contains a large amount of water content, by applying melting of thermoplastic polyethylene (PE). This study has identified a simultaneous achievement of drying and heating value improvement of the sewage sludge. The sewage sludge collected from a sewage sludge treatment plant during a winter period had a water content of 83.7 wt%, a combustible volatile content of 12.5 wt%, and an ash content of 3.8 wt%. The higher heating value (HHV) of the dried sewage sludge, before impregnation or coating of PE, was 4,600 kcal/kg. The collected sewage sludge was immersed into the melted PE solution, which had a HHV of 11,070 kcal/kg, and kept immersing with increasing reaction time. As the reaction (immersing or coating or impregnation) time increased, the water content of the sludge decreased. However, the HHV of the sludge increased with increasing the reaction time. The HHVs of the sewage sludge immersed or dipped into the melted PE solution for 15 min ranged from 6,780 to 8,170 kcal/kg with water content less than 7 wt%. This result indicates the melted PE solution can be utilized as an improvement technology for dryness and heating value of the sewage sludge with high water content. The sewage sludge impregnated or coated with melted PE can be utilized as potential fuel or energy resources.
Wastewater of anthropogenic origin is known to harbor various bacteria that are known to be of potential risk to human health and environment. It is of utmost importance to monitor such water sources. Coliforms present in the sewage water samples of municipal sewage treatment plants located at three different places in the South Gujarat region (Surat, Navsari and Vapi) of India were analyzed for their coliforms load as well as tested for their drug resistance. Using cultivation-based techniques microbial load and drug resistance (Amoxicillin, Tetracycline, Ciprofloxacin, Erythromycin, Trimethoprim and Sulphamethoxazole) were analyzed. Water treatment statistically significantly decreased the bacterial load in Vapi and Navsari samples. The optical density of with and without antibiotics of all the three locations was shown to increase significantly after 72 hours. Of all the isolates tested, except isolate 'VA5' (resisted up to 90 ㎍ of Ampicillin) all other isolates resisted 256 ㎍ concentration of antibiotics tested. This study indicates that the sewage water is being contaminated with drugs and/or antibiotics due to industrial and/or anthropogenic activities. Regular monitoring of the water quality is required followed by implementation of environmental laws for reducing the pollutants, that are of human health and environment concern.

This study was investigated nine nitrosamines in small tributary rivers, sewage treatment plants (STPs) and drinking water treatment plants. They are N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA), N-nitrosomethylethylamine (NMEA), N-nitrosodiethylamine (NDEA), N-nitrosopyrrolidine (NPYR), N-nitrosodi-n-propylamine (NDPA), N-nitrosomorpholine (NMOR), N-nitrosopiperidine (NPIP), N-nitrosodi-n-butylamine (NDBA) and N-nitrosodiphenylamine (NDPHA). The nine nitrosamines were analyzed by gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC/MS) using solid phase extraction (SPE) with a coconut charcoal cartridge. Among the nine nitrosamines, NDMA, NMEA, NDEA, NDPA NDBA and NDPHA were detected in small tributary rivers and sewage tretment plants. In small tributary rivers, NDMA, NMEA, NDEA, NDPA, NDBA and NDPHA were obtained as ND~16.4 ng/L, ND~17.7 ng/L, ND~102.4 ng/L, ND~455.4 ng/L, ND~330.1 ng/L and ND~161.0 ng/L, respectively. Also NDMA, NMEA, NDEA, NDPA and NDBA were investigated ND~821.4 ng/L, 22.5~55.4 ng/L, 53.2~588.5 ng/L, ND~56.6 ng/L and ND~527.9 ng/L in STPs, respectively. In drinking water treatment plants, NMEA and NDEA concentration were increased to as high as 38.8 ng/L after ozonation process. However nitrosamines were decreased subsequent biological activated carbon (BAC) treatment process. It was supposed that nitrosamines were formed by $O_3$ oxidation and were removed by biodegradation of BAC.
It has seen the significant increase of water consumption rate due to rapid industrialization, high-densities of city, and increasing the population; thereby leads further water resource required in near future. In order to solve this deficit there are one of solution that gray water method demonstrates advantages regarding the questions of optimal water utility and thereby master plan of water. The method of study is analysis of investigation data through interview and research of sewage treatment plants in Daegu City. Through these analysis, this paper examines the capacity of graywater and optimal graywater facility.
