  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the effects of professor-student interaction experienced by college students majoring in aviation service on academic self-efficacy and learning immersion. Considering the special nature of aviation service majors and the social changes in university education, we examined how emotional, academic, and career interactions between professors and students affect students' academic achievement and learning immersion. As a result of the study, it is confirmed that academic interaction among professor-student interactions has a positive effect on academic self-efficacy. On the other hand, emotional and career interactions among professor-student interactions do not have a significant effect on academic self-efficacy. In addition, it is analyzed that academic interaction had a positive effect on cognitive, emotional, and behavioral immersion, which are sub-factors of learning immersion. This study suggests that strengthening academic interaction with professors plays an important role in increasing academic self-efficacy and promoting learning immersion among aviation service major college students. In addition, we hope to provide basic data for establishing practical educational plans.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the levels of academic stress, sociality, and self-directed learning in nursing students, and to examine the relationship between the variables. Data were collected using a self-administered questionnaire from 208 students in the first and second years of a nursing program. This study was performed from December 5 to December 10, 2015. The data were analyzed with SPSS WIN 18.0 software (SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL, USA). The results were as follows. The mean score of academic stress was $3.20{\pm}0.53$, that of sociality was $2.91{\pm}0.25$, and that of self-directed learning was $3.33{\pm}0.33$. There was a negative correlation between academic stress and self-directed learning (r=-0.16, p=0.024) and a positive correlation between sociality and self-directed learning (r=0.17, p=0.015). Higher academic stress correlated with lower self-directed learning, while higher sociality correlated with higher self-directed learning. The results indicate that the levels of academic stress, sociality, and self-directed learning in nursing students can influence the quality of nursing education. Thus, there is a need to develop programs to reduce academic stress and to help improve sociality and self-directed learning for nursing students.

  • In this study we developed an ontology-based e-learning system for supporting self-directed learning. In this system, a domain ontology of a learning topic was constructed and relation properties were defined to indicate the relations among the learning concepts. The learning concepts and their relationships are structured visually through the domain ontology. It also boosts understandabilities of students by means of the visualization of relationships among the pre and post concepts. In addition, the system provides reasoning so that learners can do intelligent query when they want to learn more or they are curious about the high-level knowledge while they are learning a topic. These features of the system would help learners' self-directed and active learning.

  • Compared with other subjects, mathematics has great differences in achieve-ment. In hope of solving this problems, most schools try the level-movement learning. Although they say it may have some effect because of its homogeneous group, the level groups still have differences in achievement in their students abilities. So, this study aims to present an appropriate tasks for the advanced, intermediate and beginner groups and to help self-directed learning by selecting an appropriate tasks for the students' own level. To achieve thiese goals, a great deal of level tasks were developed and given to the students. After lettins them an select appropriate tasks for their own level and perform self-directed learning, the tasks were measured carefully for their interest, attitude and achievement in learning. Consequently, we tried a new method to improve uniformity and to turn teacher-centered learning into student-centered learning. The following is the conclusion to this study. First, self-directed learning based on the selection of level tasks has meaningful effects on learning achievement in mathematics, especially for the beginner group. Second, though the above method did not improve an interest for mathematics, but was very effective in the improvement of learning attitudes.
