  • This paper provides practical suggestions for how palliative care clinicians can address the expressions of spiritual struggle voiced by patients and their loved ones. In addition to practical tips for listening and responding, ethical guidance and opportunities for self-reflection related to spiritual care are briefly discussed. Principles to guide practice when the clinician is listening and responding to a patient expressing spiritual struggle include being non-directive, honoring (vs. judging) the patient's spiritual or religious experience, keeping the conversation patient-centered, focusing on the core theme of what the patient is expressing presently, using the patient's terminology and framing, and responding "heart to heart" or "head to head" to align with the patient. Ultimately, the goal of a healing response from a spiritual care generalist is to allow the patient to "hear" or "see" themselves, to gain self-awareness. To converse with patients about spirituality in an ethical manner, the clinician must first assess the patient's spiritual needs and preferences and then honor these.

  • IIoT stands for Industrial Internet of Things used in manufacturing, healthcare, and transportation in networked smart factories. Recently, IIoT's environment requires an automated control system through intelligent cognition to improve efficiency. In particular, IIoT can be applied to automatic calibration of production equipment for improved management in industrial environments. Such automation systems require a wireless network for transmitting industrial data. Self-calibration systems in laser transmission paths using wireless networks can save resources and improve production quality by real-time monitoring and remote control of laser transmission path. In this paper, we propose a wireless networked system for self-calibration of laser equipment that requires a laser transmission path, and we show the results of the prototype evaluation. The self-calibration system of laser equipment measures the coordinates of the laser points with sensors and sends them to the host using the proposed application protocol. We propose a wireless network service for the wired motor controller to align the laser coordinates. Using this wireless network, the host controls the motor by sending a control command of the motor controller in an HTTP message based on the received coordinate values. Finally, we build a prototype system of the proposed design to verify the detection performance and analyze the network performance.

  • The self-driving roller conveyor system, which transports target products by controlling multiple rollers with a motor, is a logistics system suitable for branching and joining logistics and controlling the alignment of target products, and its utilization is increasing, especially in the food manufacturing process. In this paper, we build a simulation environment using Unity software based on 3D graphic modeling of a self-driving roller conveyor system. In a situation where target products are supplied irregularly in terms of time, a method is proposed that can align products to maintain constant spacing by controlling the rollers. Simulation results show that effective alignment of products is possible by controlling the motor that drives the roller based on sensor data of the product position.

  • A large leakage current may be one of the critical issues for poly-silicon thin film transistors(poly-Si TFTs) for LCD applications. In order to reduce the leakage current of poly-Si TFTs, several offset gated structures have been reported. However, those devices, where the offset length in the source region is not same as that in the drain region, exhibit the asymmetric electrical performances such as the threshold voltage shift and the variation of the subthreshold slope. The different offset length is caused by the additional mask step for the conventional offset structures. Also the self-aligned implantation may not be applicable due to the mis-alignment problem. In this paper, we propose a new fabrication method for poly-Si TFTs with a self-aligned offset gated structure by employing a photo resistor reflow process. Compared with the conventional poly-Si TFTs, the device is consist of two gate electrodes, of which one is the entitled main gate where the gate bias is employed and the other is the entitled subgate which is separate from both sides of the main gate. The poly-Si channel layer below the offset oxide is protected from the injected ion impurities for the source/drain implantation and acts as an offset region of the proposed device. The key feature of our new device is the offset lesion due to the offset oxide. Our experimental results show that the offset region, due to the photo resistor reflow process, has been successfully obtained in order to fabricate the offset gated poly-Si TFTs. The advantages of the proposed device are that the offset length in the source region is the same as that in the drain region because of the self-aligned implantation and the proposed device does not require any additional mask process step.

  • Even if there are lots of researches on localization using 2D range finder in static environment, very few researches have been reported for robust real-time localization of mobile robot in uncertain and dynamic environment. In this paper, we present a new localization method based on ICP(Iterative Closest Point) algorithm for navigation of mobile robot under dynamic or uncertain environment. The ICP method is widely used for geometric alignment of three-dimensional models when an initial estimate of the relative pose is known. We use the method to align global map with 2D scanned data from range finder. The proposed algorithm accelerates the processing time by uniformly sampling the line fitted data from world map of mobile robot. A data filtering method is also used for threshold of occluded data from the range finder sensor. The effectiveness of the proposed method has been demonstrated through computer simulation and experiment in an office environment.

  • This paper describes the fabrication process and electrical characteristics of PSA (Polysilicon Self-Align) bipolar transistors with a thin base width of 1100.angs.. To realize this shallow junction depth, one-step rapid thermal annealing(RTA) technology has been applied instead of conventional furnace annealing process. It has been shown that the series resistances and parasitic capacitances are significantly reduced in the device with emitter area of 1${\times}4{\mu}m^{2}$. The switching speed of 2.4ns/gate was obtained by measuring the minimum propagation delay time in the I$^{2}$L ring oscillator with 31 stages.

  • In our research, we delved into the impact of video length assigned for pre-class assignments on students' level of engagement. What we discovered is that as the length of the video increases, student engagement tends to decrease and the time allocated for homework preparation does not significantly influence engagement, as many students tend to complete their assignments just before the due date. Interestingly, the well-known "6-minute rule" often advocated for online educational videos does not align with the dynamics of real university settings. Whether in traditional lecture-based classes or flipped learning environments, students exhibit a high degree of self-responsibility when it comes to video consumption. Our findings strongly suggest that, in the context of flipped learning, it is advisable to create videos that are shorter than 15 minutes in length.

  • A new method of making high speed self-aligned ESD (Elevated Source/Drain) MOSFET is proposed. Different from the conventional LDD (Lightly-Doped Drain) structure, the proposed ESD structure needs only one ion implantation step for the source/drain junctions, and makes it possible to modify the depth of the recessed channel by use of dry etching process. This structure alleviates hot-carrier stress by use of removable nitride sidewall spacers. Furthermore, the inverted sidewall spacers are used as a self-aligning mask to solve the self-align problem. Simulation results show that the impact ionization rate ($I_{SUB}/I_{D}$) is reduced and DIBL (Drain Induced Barrier Lowering) characteristics are improved by proper design of the structure parameters such as channel depth and sidewall spacer width. In addition, the use of removable nitride sidewall spacers also enhances hot-carrier characteristics by reducing the peak lateral electric field in the channel.
