Objective : The aim of this study is to investigate predictable risk factors for radiologic degeneration of adjacent segment after lumbar fusion and preoperative radiologic features of patients who underwent additional surgery with adjacent segment degeneration. Methods : Between January 1995 and December 2002, 201 patients who underwent lumbar fusion for degenerative conditions of lumbar spine were evaluated. We studied radiologic features, the method of operation, the length of fusion, age, sex, osteoporosis, and body mass index. Special attention was focused on, preoperative radiologic features of patients who required additional surgery were studied to detect risk factors for clinical deterioration. Results : Follow-up period ranged from 3 to 11 years. In our study, 61 [30%] patients developed adjacent segment degeneration, and 15 [7%] patients required additional surgery for neurologic deterioration. Age, the postoperative delay, facet volume, motion range, laminar inclination, facet tropism, and preexisting disc degeneration of adjacent segment considered as possible risk factors. Among these, laminar inclination and preexisting disc degeneration of adjacent segment were significantly correlated with clinical deterioration. Conclusion : The radiologic degeneration of adjacent segment after lumbar fusion can be predicted in terms of each preoperative radiologic factor, age and the postoperative delay. Laminar inclination and preexisting disc degeneration of adjacent segment have shown as strong risk factors for neurologic deterioration. Thus, careful consideration is warranted when these risk factors are present.
Complex queries such as path alld twig patterns have been the focus of much research on processing XML data. Structural join algorithms use a form of encoded structural information for elements in an XML document to facilitate join processing. Recently, structural join algorithms such as Twigstack and TSGeneric- have been developed to process such complex queries, and they have been shown that the processing costs of the algorithms are linearly proportional to the sum of input data. However, the algorithms have a shortcoming that their processing costs increase with the length of a queery. To overcome the shortcoming, we propose the segment join technique to augment the structural join with structural indexes such as the 1-Index. The SegmentTwig algorithm based on the segment join technique performs joins between a pair of segments, which is a series of query nodes, rather than joins between a pair of query nodes. Consequently, the query can be processed by reading only a query node per segment. Our experimental study shorts that segment join algorithms outperform the structural join methods consistently and considerably for various data sets.
In order to make up the deficiencies of the existing research results which cannot effectively deal with the nearest neighbor query based on the line segments in obstacle space, the k nearest neighbor query method of line segment in obstacle space is proposed and the STA_OLkNN algorithm under the circumstance of static obstacle data set is put forward. The query process is divided into two stages, including the filtering process and refining process. In the filtration process, according to the properties of the line segment Voronoi diagram, the corresponding pruning rules are proposed and the filtering algorithm is presented. In the refining process, according to the relationship of the position between the line segments, the corresponding distance expression method is put forward and the final result is obtained by comparing the distance. Theoretical research and experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can effectively deal with the problem of k nearest neighbor query of the line segment in the obstacle environment.
Segment lining is a key permanent lining structure to maintain the shield tunnel stability in shield tunnel operation. Moreover, segment lining generally accounts for the largest proportion in the shield tunnel construction costs. As a result, technical improvements to increase its economic feasibility have been actively carried out. This study aims to propose the development directions of high-performance segments from their recent cutting technologies. In addition, based on over 2,100 world-widely collected segment design data, a series of statistical analyses of segment key design parameters such as thickness, width and the number of divisions as well as segment materials were carried out to approximately estimate them in a design stage.
This study was performed to prove if the high resolution satellite imagery of IKONOS is suitable for preparing digital vegetation map which is becoming increasingly important in ecological science. Seven classes for forest area and five classes for non-forest area were taken for classification. Three methods, such as the pixel based classification, the segment based classification with majority principle, and the segment based classification with maximum likelihood, were applied to classify IKONOS imagery taken in April 2000. As a whole, the segment based classification shows better performance in classifying the high resolution satellite imagery of IKONOS. Through the comparison of accuracies and kappa values of the above 3 classification methods, the segment based classification with maximum likelihood was proved to be the best suitable for preparing the vegetation map with the help of IKONOS imagery. This is true not only from the viewpoint of accuracy, but also for the purpose of preparing a polygon based vegetation map. On the basis of the segment based classification with the maximum likelihood, a digital vegetation map in which each vegetation class is delimitated in the form of a polygon could be prepared.

Accounting information is essential for users. Useful information helps users to make appropriate investment-related decisions. Segment reporting disclosure plays a practical role for an investor in a business. The article data was surveyed by ordinary least squares to test the effects of corporate governance on the segment reporting disclosure. The article employed time-series data with 136 observations of the top 100 non-financial Vietnamese enterprises listed on the stock exchange in the period of 2018-2019. The research used two popular theories related to stakeholder and agency to explain the effects of factors on segment reporting disclosure. The results have identified two factors that have a positive impact on segment reporting disclosure, namely, the size of the board and the ratio of foreign members to the total number of the board. Accordingly, the managers of the top 100 Vietnamese listed enterprises should increase the number of board members as well as pay attention to the number of foreign members to contribute to improving the information disclosure on the segment reporting. It is the basis to improve the quality of information to ensure completeness and transparency. It contributes to attracting foreign investment to meet the trend of international economic integration.

Polyurethane elastomers are segmented cocoplymer with an [HS]n-type structure. Typically, these materials are two-phase systems, prepared from relatively polar and stiff component called the hard segment(H) and relatively flexible component known as the soft segment(S). Diisocyanate and chain extender together form the hard segment, which is dispersed within a matrix of the soft segment, composed of the macrodiolos.(omitted)
