  • The number of smart phone users is rapidly growing due to recent increase in wireless Internet usage, development of a wide variety of applications, and activation of M2M (Machine to machine) services. Although the smart phone offers benefits of mobility and convenience, it also has serious security problems. To utilize M2M services in the smart phone, a flexible integrated authentication and access control facility is an essential requirement. To solve these problems, we propose a context-aware single sign-on and access control system that uses context-awareness, integrated authentication, access control, and an OSGi service platform in the smart phone environment. In addition, we recommend Fuzzy Logic and MAUT (Multi-Attribute Utility Theory) in handling diverse contexts properly as well as in determining the appropriate security level. We also propose a security system whose properties are flexible and convenient through a typical scenario in the smart phone environment. The proposed context-aware security system can provide a flexible, secure and seamless security service by adopting diverse contexts in the smart phone environment.

  • Speedy development has been witnessed in communication technologies and the adoption of the Internet across the world. Information dissemination is the primary goal of these technologies. One of the rapidly developing nations in the Middle East is Saudi Arabia, where the use of communication technologies, including mobile and Internet, has drastically risen in recent times. These advancements are relatively new to the region when contrasted to developed nations. Thus, offenses arising from the adoption of these technologies may be new to Saudi Arabians. This study examines cyber security awareness among Saudi Arabian citizens in distinct settings. A comparison is made between the cybersecurity policy guidelines adopted in Saudi Arabia and three other nations. This review will explore distinct essential elements and approaches to mitigating cybercrimes in the United States, Singapore, and India. Following an analysis of the current cybersecurity framework in Saudi Arabia, suggestions for improvement are determined from the overall findings. A key objective is enhancing the nationwide focus on efficient safety and security systems. While the participants display a clear knowledge of IT, the surveyed literature shows limited awareness of the risks related to cyber security practices and the role of government in promoting data safety across the Internet. As the findings indicate, proper frameworks regarding cyber security need to be considered to ensure that associated threats are mitigated as Saudi Arabia aspires to become an efficient smart nation.

  • Using biometrics to verify a person's identity has several advantages over the present practices of personal identification numbers (PINs) and passwords. At the same time, improvements in VLSI technology have recently led to the introduction of smart cards with 32-bit RISC processors. To gain maximum security in verification systems using biometrics, verification as well as storage of the biometric pattern must be done in the smart card. However, because of the limited resources (processing power and memory space) of the smart card, integrating biometrics into it is still an open challenge. In this paper, we propose a fingerprint verification algorithm using a multi-resolution accumulator array that can be executed in restricted environments such as the smart card. We first evaluate both the number of instructions executed and the memory requirement for each step of a typical fingerprint verification algorithm. We then develop a memory-efficient algorithm for the most memory-consuming step (alignment) using a multi-resolution accumulator array. Our experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can reduce the required memory space by a factor of 40 and can be executed in real time in resource-constrained environments without significantly degrading accuracy.

  • According to explosion of smart-devices, demands on N-screen services based on cooperation of multiple screens are rapidly increasing. These N-screen services can provide new user-experience (UX) to users. That is, it can provide technical advances to users. On the other hand, it causes new security problems. In this paper, we analyze conventional web-security attacks, and we propose and analyze new security requirements for migration, combination, and separation of web-contents based on N-screen service scenarios. Also, we develop N-screen cooperation service framework in order to ensure user security.

  • A security system in Android OS adopts sandbox and an permission model. In particular, the permission model operates the confirmation of installation time and all-or-nothing policy. Accordingly, the Android OS requires a user agreement for permission when installing an application, however there is very low level of user awareness for the permission. In this paper, the current status of permission requirement within mobile apps will be discovered, and the key inspection list with an appropriate method, when a mobile service provider autonomously inspects the violation of least privilege around financial companies, and its usefulness will be explored.

  • The personal bio-information supplied from the PHD(Personal Health Device) for personal health management is very sensitive in relation to a personal living body in an aspect of privacy protection. On the assumption thai the information is about a patient, it is more serious problem if it is revealed to a third party. However. the established ISO (International Organizations for Standardization) standard protocol[1] in October 2009 has just considered a transmission part for mutual exchange of bio-information between individuals, but has never actually considered security elements. Accordingly, this paper is to show all sorts of security threats according to personal health management in the u-health environment and security requirements newly.

  • Government transactions over wireless electronic devices are not safe and hence the messages are prone to attack. Thereby, devices supporting wireless Internet must assure the same level of security and privacy as the wired network. National public key infrastructure (NPKI) for electronic government used in the wired environment is not suitable for wireless environment for mobile government (mGovernment) because of the limitations of computing power, memory capacity and restricted battery power. This requires the development of a new NPKI for mGovernment, denoted as mNPKI, to developing countries, which provides the same security level as the wired NPKI. For the wireless environment requirements, mNPKI is based on short lived certificates. Analysis shows that mNPKI is well suited to wireless Internet and provides the same security requirement from the wired NPKI.

  • Under a large-scale client-server service environment, e.g., online games, encrypting data for acquiring information security often causes overload to the server and hence degradation of the service itself. Therefore, for reducing encryption payload, it is necessary to use adequately an efficient encryption scheme with respect to the security requirements of transmission data. In this paper, we propose a packet encryption scheme using multiple cryptosystems to realize such capability, which assigns a different cryptosystem according to the security requirements level. The proposed encryption scheme is applicable to internet services with heavy traffic ratios in which different kinds of data packets are incessantly transmitted between clients and servers. To show its effectiveness and superiority, the performance of the proposed encryption scheme is verified by experiments.

  • Graph expression of attack scenarios is a necessary method for analysis of vulnerability in server as well as the design for defence against attack. Although various requirement analysis model are used for this expression, they are restrictive to express combination of complex scenarios. Role Based Petri Net suggested in this paper offer an efficient expression model based role on Petri Net which has the advantage of concurrency and visuality and can create unknown scenarios.
