  • Ship handling simulator should have capabilities of calculating ship motions (heave, pitch, and roll) at given sea state and displaying the calculated motions through a real-time 3D visualization system. Motion solver of a ship handling simulator generally calculates those motions in addition to position for an own ship, a main simulation target, but provides only position information for traffic ships. Therefore, it is required to simulate real-time traffic ship and buoy motions coupled with ocean waves in a ship handling simulator for the realistic visualization. In the paper, the authors propose a simple dynamics model by which ship and buoy motions are calculated with the input data of wave height and discuss a method for the implementation of a ship and buoy motions calculation module.

  • We have many environmental problems by the polluted materials as a results of mechanical development these days. So people want to use building products made from natural things and take a good effect for people from those bio products. We can instance electron wave shelding, far infrared ray and anion emission, and anti-bacterial property as the latest trend of the bio building material. So we had a experiment to investigate how much bio materials affect concrete when we use in the concrete with cement substitution. We tested slump, 7days compressive strength, and air contents for physical properties of bio concrete. The result is that bio concretes with four bio ingredients have proper values comparing with target values for slump and air content but lower compressive strength than plain concrete.

  • In this paper, robust depth and course controllers of AUV(autonomous underwater vehicles) using LMI-based H$_{\infty}$ servo control are proposed. The $H_{\infty}$ servo problem is modified to an $H_{\infty}$ control problem for the generalized plant that includes a reference input mode, and then a sub-optimal solution that satisfies a given performance criteria is calculated by LMI(Linear Matrix Inequality) approach. The robust depth and course controllers are designed to be satisfied the robust stability about the modeling error generated from the perturbation of the hydrodynamic coefficients and the robust tracking property under sea wave and tide disturbances. The performances of the designed controllers are evaluated by computer simulations, and these simulation results show the applicability of the proposed robust depth and course controller.

  • $\textbullet$ This paper presents a study on the development of a walking robot for an armor-stone work of the breakwater construction. The armor-stone work is putting stones about 0.3 ∼ 2m3 on the surface of the breakwater to prevent it from waving. $\textbullet$ This work has been done manually, and its process plan is uncertain by effects of the weather, wave and tide of sea. Therefore the constructional cost is considered to be wasteful $\textbullet$ Working in underwater as well as on land for human workers causes the accident and caisson disease, so it is necessary to replace the process to be mechanized. $\textbullet$ The basic requirements of the robot for mechanizing are as follows : 1) To have a large...

  • A heave motion of the offshore crane system with load is affected by unpredictable external factors. Therefore the offshore crane must satisfy rigorous requirements in terms of safety and efficiency. This paper intends to reduce the heave displacement of load position which is produced by rope extension and sea wave disturbance in vertical motion. In this system, the load position is compensated by the winch actuator control. The rope is modeled as a mass-damper-spring system, and a controller is designed by the input-output linearization method. The model system and the proposed control method are evaluated on the simulation results.

  • In this thesis, Middle frequency wave propagation modeling is studied for the varies mountain geography the experimented middle frequency propagation model is researched in a shot time to analyze the broad area that consists of mountains. Due to the Sommerfeld - Norton model which is used broadly the middle frequency propagation model to analyze the broad area in a short time is proposed introducing the newly attenuation parameter of the experimental results on the basis of actual experiments at the mountain configuration regardless of the area of mountain, plane, sea etc.

  • There is a limitation for a ship which is sailing on sea to gather weather and seastate informations. To make up for this weakness , land organizations can gather wider variety of information and evaluate the seakeeping performance on ship. and supply this information to the ship. In this study, calculated the response amplitude of ship motions with the weather information provided in real time, the norminal speed loss with obtaining increased of resistance caused by wave and stochastic process of the seakeeping performance elements. And the results have been achieved to develop a system whichcan evaluate the synthetic seakeeping performance. Using this system , the results have been studied to determine the feasibility of using this simulation inactual operation onboard ship.

  • The electromagnetic (light) waves are limited to penetrate the media, ie, water and sea-bottom layers, due to high energy attenuation, but acoustic (sound) waves play as the good messenger to gather the underwater target information. Therefore the acoustic methods are applied to almost of ocean equipments and technology in terms of in-water and sub-bottom surveys, Generally the sound character is controlled by its frequency. In case that the sound source is low frequency, the penetration is high and the resolution is low. On the other hand, its character is reversed at the high frequency. The common character at the both of light and sound is the energy damping according to the travel distance increase.

  • This paper compares frequency domain and time domain predictions from the ShipMo3D ship motion library with observed motions from model tests and sea trials. ShipMo3D evaluates hull radiation and diffraction forces using the frequency domain Green function for zero forward speed, which is a suitable approach for ships travelling at moderate speed (e.g., Froude numbers up to 0.4). Numerical predictions give generally good agreement with experiments. Frequency domain and linear time domain predictions are almost identical. Evaluation of nonlinear buoyancy and incident wave forces using the instantaneous wetted hull surface gives no improvement in numerical predictions. Consistent prediction of roll motions remains a challenge for seakeeping codes due to the associated viscous effects.
