  • Sea dike construction for the tidal flat reclamation works in estuary and coast may change the characteristics of tidal motion and wave conditions in the region. In turn, a new hydraulic condition provides the impacts on sediment transport pattern and forms a new morphological environment. Also, morphological changes during the closure works of sea dike are closely related with a safy of sea dike. Therefore, the prediction of morphological changes is required secure the safe closure work and the economic design of sea dikes. To investigate morphological changes due to sea dike construction, hydrodynamic changes of tides and waves have to be evaluated, then sediment transport and sea bottom changes are computed. Mathematical modelling is required for representation of interrelation of tidal motion, wave and sediment transport. In this study, numerical model MORSYS is applied to compute the hydrodynamics and morphological changes around the closure gap for Saemankuem dike. This model allows a flexible integration of the module for waves, currents, sediment transport and bottom changes.

급경사 해저면에 대한 파랑의 반응특성 (The Characteristics of Waves on the Steep Sloping Sea Bottom)

  • This study discusses the interacting with deep water waves approaching from deep water based on the linear wave theory and steep sloping sea bottom floor by the numerical procedure. The results of particular interest are particle velocity and acceleration in x, y, z direction wave height amplification factor reflection coefficient and dimensionless pressure distribution on the steep sloping bottom with respect to the various incident wave angle. The wave loads relative to various bottom slopes, incident wave angles and wave periods on submerged breakwater and pipe are represented in comparison with mild sloping bottom the wave load parameters on the steep sloping bottom seemed to be influenced by variation of incident wave angle. In general the particle velocities and accelerations in x, y, z directions on the steep sloping bottom represented larger value or about two than those on the mild sloping bottom according to incident wave angle. However, the wave height amplification factors did not show distinct difference, but the slight variation with respect to the various incident angle showed on mild sloping bottom. The reflection coefficient increased with respect to increase of the incident angle on the steep sloping bottom the results also indicate that the very steep sloping beach produces a rather substantial amount of reflection as we expected. No significant variation of wave pressure was shown on the steep sloping bottom but it represented a certain amount of variation on the mild sloping bottom according to the various incident wave angle. The analysis at the OTEC site also showed similar results.

  • 미래 기후 시나리오에 따르면 우리나라 자연재해의 주요 요인인 태풍의 강도는 강해질 것으로 전망된다. 태풍 강도 증가는 내습 파고 상승으로 이어져 주거, 산업, 관광 등의 용도로 인구 및 건물 밀집도가 높은 연안 지역의 대규모 피해발생 가능성이 높은 상황이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 동해 해양기상부이 관측자료를 분석하여 최대 유의파고가 나타난 태풍 마이삭(202009) 내습 기간에 대해 파랑추산 수치모형실험을 수행하였다. 파랑추산실험 경계조건은 JMA-MSM의 바람장과 SSP5-8.5 미래 기후 시나리오의 태풍 중심기압 감소율을 적용한 바람장을 사용하였다. 파랑추산실험 결과 SSP5-8.5 시나리오에서 속초항 방파제 전면에서의 파고는 4.06 m에서 4.68 m로 15.27% 증가하였다. 또한, 심해설계파 147-2 격자점 위치에서의 재현빈도는 최소 2배 이상 증가하는 것으로 산출되어, 현재 해안구조물 설계 시 관행적으로 적용하는 50년 재현빈도 심해설계파에 대한 제고가 필요하다.

저기압 및 태풍 통과시 서해상의 해상상태 사례 분석 (Case Study on the State of Sea Surface with Low Atmospheric Pressure and Typhoon Conditions over the fellow Sea)

  • 서해 상에서 저기압과 태풍 통과 시 해상상태를 비교 분석을 하였다. 1999년 4월 9일${\sim}$12일에 강한 저기압이 화중지방에서 발생하여 서해를 지나 한반도에 영향을 미친 경우의 9905호 태풍 NEIL과 9907호 태풍 OLGA가 서해를 통과하면서 서해 연안에 영향을 미친 사례이다. 봄철 이동성 저기압 발생 시 에는 저기압 중심부의 풍속이 주변 지역에 비해 위상이 빠르고 강하게 나타나며, 이에 수반되어 발생하는 파고는 주변의 지형적 영향으로 다르게 나타날 수 있다. 이에 비해 두 태풍에 의해 발생한 파고는 태풍 Olga가 서해 남부해역에서 북상할 시기에 칠발도 근해상에서 5m이상의 높은 유의파고를 발생한 것 이외에는 저기압 통과 시보다 파고가 낮다. 해일도 태풍보다 저기압 통과 시에 더 크게 나타나는데, 이러한 결과는 강하지만 국지적이고 빠르게 이동하는 태풍보다 종관적이고 느리게 이동하는 기압장에 의해 발생한 파도와 해일이 더 클 수 있음을 보여준다.

INTERACTION OF SURFACE WATER WAVES WITH SMALL BOTTOM UNDULATION ON A SEA-BED

  • The problem of interaction of surface water waves by small undulation at the bottom of a laterally unbounded sea is treated on the basis of linear water wave theory for both normal and oblique incidences. Perturbation analysis is employed to obtain the first order corrections to the reflection and transmission coefficients in terms of integrals involving the shape function c(x) representing the bottom undulation. Fourier transform method and residue theorem are applied to obtain these coefficients. As an example, a patch of sinusoidal ripples is considered in both the cases as the shape function. The principal conclusion is that the reflection coefficient is oscillatory in the ratio of twice the surface wave number to the wave number of the ripples. In particular, there is a Bragg resonance between the surface waves and the ripples, which is associated with high reflection of incident wave energy. The theoretical observations are validated computationally.

  • Korea is surrounded by the West Sea, the South Sea, and the East Sea. There are various points at which large and small rivers flow into the sea, and areas where these rivers meet the coast are vulnerable to disasters. Thus, it is necessary to study disaster prevention techniques based on coastal characteristics and the pattern of disasters. In this study, we analyzed the risk factors of disaster districts analyzed in comprehensive plans for the reduction of damage to coastal cities from storms and floods. As a result of standardization, four factors (tide level, intensive rainfall & typhoon, wave, and tsunami) were identified. Intensive rainfall & typhoon occurred along the West Sea, the South Sea, and the East Sea coast. Factors that should be considered to influence disasters are tide level for the West Sea, tsunami and tide level for the South Sea, and wave in the East Sea. In addition, disaster prevention techniques to address these factors are presented, focusing on domestic and overseas cases.

SATELLITE SAR OBSERVATION OF SOLITARY INTERNAL WAVE OCCURRENCE IN THE NORTHERN SOUTH CHINA SEA

  • Satellite synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images from 1995 to 2001 and field measurements of sea surface wind, sea state, and vertical stratification are used for statistical analyses of internal wave (IW) occurrence and SAR imaging conditions in the northern South China Sea (NSCS). Latitudinal distribution of IW packets shows that 22% of IW packets distributed in the east of $118^{\circ}E$ and 78% of IW packets in the west of $118^{\circ}E$. The yearly distribution of IW occurrence frequencies reveals an interannual variability. The monthly SAR-observed IW occurrence frequencies show that the high frequencies are distributed from April to July and reach a peak in June. The low occurrence frequencies are distributed in winter from December to February of next year. These statistical features are explained by solitary wave dynamics.

황해에서 저주파 음파의 해저손실 변동 (Bottom Loss Variation of Low-Frequency Sound Wave in the Yellow Sea)

  • The sound wave in the sea propagates under the effect of water depth, sound speed structure, sea surface roughness, bottom roughness, and acoustic properties of bottom sediment. In shallow water, the bottom sediments are distributed very variously with place and the sound speed structure varying with time and space. In order to investigate the seasonal propagation characteristics of low-frequency sound wave in the Yellow Sea, propagation experiments were conducted along a track in the middle part of the Yellow Sea in spring, summer, and autumn. In this paper we consider seasonal variations of the sound speed profile and propagation loss based on the measurement results. Also we quantitatively investigate variation of bottom loss by dividing the propagation loss into three components: spreading loss, absorption loss, and bottom loss. As a result, the propagation losses measured in summer were larger than the losses in spring and autumn, and the propagation losses measured in autumn were smaller than the losses in spring. The spreading loss and the absorption loss did not show seasonal variations, but the bottom loss showed seasonal variations. So it was thought that the seasonal variation of the propagation loss was due to the seasonal change of the bottom loss and the seasonal variation of the bottom loss was due to the change of the sound speed profile by season.

Rolling Motion Spectrum 에 의한 해난 발생의 원인분석에 관한 연구 (A Study about Analysis of Cause of several Capsized Sea Accidents by Rolling Motion Spectrum)

  • Marine casualities in the high sea are mainly classified into the breakage of hull and capsize , of which the latter occurs frequently to a small craft and container vessels by extreme rolling. The aim of this study is to develop shiphandling techniques for the prevention of ship's large rolling by way of evaluating dangerous degree of rolling in heavy weather. In this study, rolling motion is analized by using statistical method as follow : (1) 8 sample ships is presented for calculation. (2) Analized sea state are Beaufort scale 7 and 10 (wind velocity 30kts and 50kts respectively) and significant wave height is put as 5.2m and 11.2m. (3) The formula recommended by International Towing Tank Conference (ITTC) is used to calculated the wave spectrum. The results of this study are as follow : The results of this study are as follow : (1) Most of the vessels with beam of 20 meters or less was found to be capized in the waves abeam under the sea condition of Bearfort scale7(30kts). (2) For the vessels range 20m to 30m was found safe under the sea conditions of Bearfort scale 7(30kts) and imminent danger under the sea condition of Beaufort scale 11(50kts). (3) It is proved that any vessel could be capsized by heavy rolling regardless of vessel's size whenever the motion is synchronized with waves abeam. This study concludes that the navigator, especially at night , must anticipate the exact wave direction, referring to the wether report and coastaline, not to lay the vessel in the serial wave abeam.

  • 오늘날 무인기는 기술 발전을 통해 육해상의 다양한 분야에서 이용되고 있다. 한국항공우주연구원(KARI)에서는 육상용 수직이착륙기로 개발된 틸트로터 무인기를 해상에서 운용할 수 있도록 임무영역 확장을 고려하고 있다. 틸트로터 무인기의 효과적인 해상운용을 위해서는 함상이착륙이 필요하지만 해상은 지상에 비해 염분, 연무, 바람등 기상영향을 많이 받는다. 또한 지상과는 달리 선박 운동으로 인한 착륙지점의 운동이 발생하며, 자동 함상착륙을 어렵게 만든다. 이러한 무인기 함상이착륙을 위하여 본 논문에서는 파고에 따른 선박 운동을 모델링 하고, 무인기 시뮬레이터를 통해 시험평가한 결과를 제시하고 있다.
