  • High dielectric constant materials (high K) have attracted a great deal of interest because of the dramatic scaling down of DRAM capacitor reaching its physical limit in terms of reduction of thickness. Among high-K materials that can replace silicon dioxide, tantalum pentoxide (Ta2O5) thin film, with their high dielectric constant (∼25) and good step coverage, is the candidate of choice.

  • Generally, operators suffer much difficulty in manipulating micro-nano-sized objects without assisting of human interface, due to the scaling effects in micro/nano world. Thus, the micromanipulation system based on the teleoperation techniques enables operators to manipulate the micro objects easily by transferring both human motion and manipulation skills to the micromanipulator. In teleoperated microassembly, it is necessary to provide a useful user interface for facilitating micro assembly task executed by human operators. In this paper, Intelligent User Interface (UI) for teleoperated microassembly is proposed. The proposed intelligent UI improves task performance by teleoperated micromanipulation as well as guides operators to succeed in desirable ...

  • The potential impact of the methods of sensory science on consumer testing and marketing is reviewed. Areas such as predicting purchase behavior, new approaches to scaling, and cross cultural effects are discussed. An example of the complexity of sensory measurement used to obtain consumer and marketing information is highlighted, using the simple paired preference test as an example.

  • Measurement of complex surfaces without touching is desirable in several fields. This arises mainly for measurement of complex surfaces including those surfaces that deform during touch. Our research presented in this paper describes the use of a 3D digitizer for scanning 3D objects. The use of such a device, in addition to proper calibration, requires proper scaling in all three dimensions. We propose measurement techniques to measure various aspects of the surface circumference, area and volume. We also present experiments from using a 3D Minolta digitizer for measuring 3D human heads.

  • This paper is the analysis of the relationship between RQD and decay constant, blasting vi bration constant of cube root scaling and square root scaling, through experimental blast ins test in subway construction for excavation of shaft hole by bottom blasting. The magnitude of particle velocity is largely effected by the distance from blasting source, the maximum charge per delay and the properties of ground. In order to verify the effects of ground properties on blast-induced vibration, the relation-ship between magnitude of blasting vibration and Rock Quality Disignation which stands for joint property was studied. The results of test are verified that blasting vibration constant "K" and the absolute value("n") of decay constant relatively increse as RQD increased. According to the result, it can be predict the particle velocity by the blast -induced vibration in bottom blasting pattern.om blasting pattern.

  • Abstract We report the result of measurement for the ferro-to paramagnetic phase transition temperature shift of a gadolinium film. The phase transition temperature has been determined by measuring the resistance changes of film as function of temperature. At the ferro-to paramagnetic transition temperature, we can observe the inflection point of resistance changes. The phase transition temperature of 6600$\AA$ gadolinium film is found to be shifted by 4 $\pm$ 0.$3^{\circ}C$ below the transition temperature of bulk gadolinium. This is the first measurement for the phase transition temperature shift of ferromagnetic gadolinium film. This and further results might give a milestone in resolving the differences between experiments and finite-size scaling theory.

  • Recently, the first generation of mass production of FinFET-based microprocessors has begun, and scaling of FinFET transistors is ongoing. Traditional capacitance and resistance models cannot be applied to nonplanar-gate transistors like FinFETs. Although scaling of nanoscale FinFETs may alleviate electrostatic limitations, parasitic capacitances and resistances increase owing to the increasing proximity of the source/drain (S/D) region and metal contact. In this paper, we develop analytical models of parasitic components of FinFETs that employ the raised source/drain structure and metal contact. The accuracy of the proposed model is verified with the results of a 3-D field solver, Raphael. We also investigate the effects of layout changes on the parasitic components and the current-gain cutoff frequency ($f_T$). The optimal FinFET layout design for RF performance is predicted using the proposed analytical models. The proposed analytical model can be implemented as a compact model for accurate circuit simulations.

  • Active treatment of periodontal disease consists of plaque control by the patient, with root planing and surgery perfomed by the dental practitioner. Chlorhexidine rinse has been the most effective antiplaque agent available today and tetracycline has been the most favored antibiotics. Therefore, the purpose of this study was compared the different effect among groups(saline mouthrinse[group I], 0.125% chlorhexidine mouthrinse [groupII], and 0.125% chlorhexidine mouthrinse containing tetracycline[groupIII]) during the immediate post periodontal therapy. We assessed plaque index, gingival index, papillary bleediing index, gingival crevicular volume, periodontal attachment loss, and periodontal pocket depth in 3 sites per subject. The assessment was made at baseline. At 1 week after scaling, and at 2 weeks after curettage. All groups were clinically and statistically reduced plaque score, gingival score, papillary bleeding score, and gingival crevicular volume at 2 weeks after curettage. Group II was significantly reduced periodontal pocket depth.(P<0.05) At 1 week after scaling, al clinical index scores were reduced but not singificantly difference between the groups.(p>0.05) At 2 weeks after curettage, plaque score, gingival score and papillary bleeding score were significantly difference between the groups.(P<0.05) During the experimental period, gingiva was not damaged and stain of the tongue or teeth were not noted in all groups.

  • Fouling by inorganic scales needs to be prevented to effectively operate sea water reverse osmosis(SWRO) membrane systems. The extents of inorganic scaling with different array designs including one-pass, two-pass and several hybrid designs were evaluated using seawater from southern sea near the city of Chang-Won. The used methods for evaluation were Stiff and Davis Index(S&DSI) calculation and several laboratory experiments. The formation potential of inorganic scale fouling was quite great under the examined conditions, which was confirmed by the laboratory experimental results. The inorganic scale was not avoidable fouling if any anti-scaling measures were not applied. The RO showed decreased flux under the scale formation conditions. The increases in S&DSI from 1.43 to 5 made small decreases in flux, which indicated that formation of inorganic scales had more substantial effects on RO flux than amount of inorganic scales.
