  • Purpose: This study was to identify the meaning of the experience of 'well-being' of female college students in Korea and provide fundamental materials to improve nursing interventions. Methods: The participants were six female students who gave consent to participate in this study. This study was conducted between August 2006 and November 2006. Each interview took one to three hours. The contents of the interviews were recorded and dictated afterwards. In addition, the interviews were carried out such a way that the gathered information was sufficiently saturated. The data was analyzed with the phenomenological analytic method suggested by Giorgi (1985). Results: As a result of analysis, the following have been identified.: proper dietary treatment, proper physical treatment, harmonized psychological treatment, environmental-friendly treatment, and hypersensitivity to the mass media. Conclusions: The finding of this study offers profound information on the 'well-being' of female college students in Korea and provides fundamental materials to improve the quality of nursing interventions.

  • Using a SQUID magnetometer, the diamagnetic susceptibility of NaCl aqueous solution was measured with high accuracy in a magnetic field of up to 6 Tat 25$\pm0.05^{\circ}C$. The NaCl concentrations adopted in this experiment were 0 (water), 7.5, 15, 23, 26.2, 26.6 and 100% (crystal) with the concentration error of $\pm$0.04%. Experimental data was compared with the calculated value of susceptibility derived from dependence of the vapor pressure on NaCl concentration As a result, our measured value was almost in accordance with the calculated value. It was found that the diamagnetic susceptibility shows a decrease of approximately 10% within the saturated concentration (26.2%) and that the susceptibility is one of the effective cause for the concentration dependence in the gas-liquid interface deformation of the NaCl solution.

  • Ground subsidence near abandoned underground coal mines has become a serious social problem in Korea. The purpose of this study is to perform a comparative analysis between the ground subsidence area and the electrical resistivity measured by field survey at Samcheok City. A raster database composed of ground subsidence areas and electrical resistivity data was constructed for GIS. To analyze correlation between the two constructed raster datasets, we used a frequency ratio model. The results show that low and high electrical resistivity anomaly zones coincide with the existing subsidence areas. We infer that the high anomaly zone means saturated and low anomaly zone means vacant. It suggests that electrical resistivity might be a useful factor for analyzing ground subsidence hazard zone.

  • Several equations of state for hard-sphere chains with various perturbation terms are reviewed. For each model, three characteristic parameters are required to represent phase equilibria of normal fluids and obtained from thermodynamic properties of pure saturated liquids. The models are then compared with computer simulation data to show the effect of attractive contribution forms employed. Calculated values of vapor-liquid equilibria (VLE) of hydrocarbons that can be reproduced for each model are also compared with experimental results. An additional parameter, ${\zeta}_{KB}$, is required to represent the VLE of pure water, which is ascertained to have a strong influence on the theoretical coexistence curve.

  • This research developed a method for the estimation of groundwater recharge by yielding daily soil moisture content and watershed evapotranspiration from the water balance concept of the unsaturated and saturated layers in rainfall-runoff model called DAWAST. The goal of the research is to estimate the groundwater recharge fulfilling conditions of the safe discharge for any season. To meet this goal, the data of groundwater level and stream flow rate have been monitored in a study area and used to validate the model.

  • The present study was to formulate a computer program to provide a menu based on a food preference survey of families in urban areas. A food preference survey was conducted by individual direct interviews of infants, children and old people in this study. In case other's food preferences were available, food menus considering all age groups could be made. Database III PLUS package was utilized for this study. The dBASE was loaded with a food compostion table of 339 different food items, along with data for amino acids and fatty acids for 171 and 43 food items respectively. Food preference, unit of food, and recommended dietary allowances were also incloded. This meun program system calculates nutrients in selected foods, and menu assessment was composed of several factors inculding energy ratio of carbohydrate : protein : fat, amino acid score, limiting amino acid, polyunsaturated fatty acid/saturated fatty acid(JP/S) ratio and Ca/P ratio.

  • In this paper, The optimum oxidation conditions for the formation of Cu-Zn ferrite were investigated using precipitates obtained by the mixture of $CuCl_2{\cdot}2H_2O$, $ ZnCl_2$, $FeCl_3{\cdot}6H_2O$ and NaOH. The precipitates were prepared by coprecipitation method on various temperatures and oxidation conditions. The oxidation products were examined by SEM, XRD, and VSM. The particles obtained at 70($^{\circ}C$) were more spherical and fine than that of prepared at 25($^{\circ}C$), 50($^{\circ}C$), 60($^{\circ}C$), respectively. By $H_2O_2$ oxidation, the saturation magnetization of the powders was little influenced, But, by air oxidation the saturation magnetization of the powders was influenced intricately. According to our experimental data, the saturation magnetization of the powders increased with reaction time and was saturated at 9 hours.

  • For decreasing intersymbol interference (ISI) due to band-limited channels in digitalcommunication, the uses of equalization techniques are necessary. Among the useful adaptive equalization techniques, because of their ease of implementation and nonlinear capabilites, the neural networks have been used as an alternative for effectively dealing with the channel distortion. In this paepr, a complex-valued multilayer percepron is proposed as a nonlinear adaptive equalizer. After the important properties that a suitable complex-valued activation function must possess are discussed, a new complex-valued activation function is developed for the proposed schemes to deal with M-ary QAM signals of any constellation sizes. It has been further proven that by the nonlinear transformation of the proposed function, the correlation coefficient between the real and imaginary parts of input data decreases when they are jointly Gaussian random variables. Lastly, the effectiveness of the proposed scheme is demonstrated by simulations. The proposed scheme provides, compared with the linear equalizer using the least mean squares (LMS) algorith, an interesting improvement concerning Bit Error Rate (BER) when channel distortions are nonlinear.

  • Water vapor permeability of films is commonly calculated from the water vapor transmission rate of the film measured using a permeability cup method which is essentially a gravimetric method. This method was originally developed for petroleum based plastic films with low water vapor permeability. In the case of hydrophilic bio-polymer films, the resistance caused by a stagnant air layer, which is developed between the underside of the film mounted on the cup and the surface of the desiccant saturated salt solution or distilled water, can be significant and, if neglected, ran lead to underestimation of water vapor transmission rates. Therefore, it is necessary to correct water vapor transmission rate data to accurately estimate the water vapor permeability of bio-polymer films.
