Fundamental Stress Analysis for a Development of the Safety Block

  • The falling accidents have increased in the structure and heavy industries. Therefore, a various falling prevention systems with safety block and lanyard have been supplied in order to prevent falling accidents and acquire the long life and cost down for the maintenance. However, there are not the reliable and domestic the falling prevention system until now. Almost systems were imported from U.S.A, Japan, U.K and Germany. The structural safety of the imported safety block is satisfied sufficiently, but it has heavy weight due to the cover with the aluminum and thickness. So, many workers are not feeling themselves. Thus, the aim of this work is to develop a commercial safety block that has a light weight and strength. And the cost efficiency of the system and safety for workers also will be improved remarkably.

  • Developed is a new environment-friendly concrete-block retaining wall system. The conventional analysis methods are not directly applicable because the proposed concrete-block wall system is made of by interlocking the blocks with shear keys. Therefore, the shear analysis as well as stability analysis have been conducted to secure the safety of block-wall system. Overall slope stability analysis was also performed. An appropriate strengthening method was developed to ensure the safety when the block-wall system is relatively high. The method of analysis for strengthening the concrete-block wall system was also proposed. The proposed environment-friendly concrete block retaining wall system shows reasonable safety and can be a good construction method for retaining walls and river bank walls.

  • The system improves the safety and efficiency of railway transport, combining the advanced axle-counter with single-track semiautomatic block. Using computer, to accomplish relay-based semiautomatic block logic operation and axle-counter to check section status, it will further increase the performance of railway transport. Safety-related communication is one of the important topics in railway signal system. By referring to relevant safety-related communication standards, to research on safety-related communication of Micro-computer automatic block between Railway Stations System, the thesis introduces the basic requirements, concept model, codes, and the process, etc.

  • Many kinds of falling prevention systems with a safety block have been supplied in order to prevent falling accidents and acquire the long life and cost down for the maintenance. The structural safety of the imported safety block is satisfied sufficiently, but it has heavy weight due to the cover with the aluminum and thickness. Especially, the falling prevention system as the safety block is very expensive. It brings about flow the enormous money out of country. Furthermore it has a heavy weight when workers climbed the ladder with a falling prevention system and moved, many workers are not feeling themselves. Thus, the aim of this work is to develop a commercial self-escape SRL(Self Retracting Lifeline) with the safety block function that has a light weight and an advanced strength. The cost efficiency and convenience of the system and safety for workers also will be improved remarkably even though this system has a light weight. The results show that the maximum stress is obtained in each part by the lower more than yield strength and has sufficient safety in the developed new safety block.

  • In this study, the study was conducted to derive the utility of the safety management system applying block chain technology and big data technology to improve the problems of construction sites where concealment and operation of safety accidents occur. If block chain technology and big data technology are applied to construction safety management, transparent data can be collected, and based on the collected data, it is possible to predict accidents that can occur at the construction site and establish countermeasures. It can also be an opportunity to strengthen the safety awareness of construction workers and managers, and can clearly identify the responsibility in the event of a safety accident. This study suggests that the application of the 4th Industrial Revolution technology could be a great opportunity to innovate the construction industry which is less than other industries.

  • Armor block is used to reduce wave energy. To do this, the stability of coastal structure is enhanced. It is very expensive to develop a new type armor block. So, the research of new type armor block is very short. We develope truncated tetrahedron type armor block(new type block) which have a hole in center part. In this study, the stability of new type armor block is investigated by hydraulic model test. In the result, the stability coefficient($K_D$) of new type armor block is 11.8. this value is more superior than value of tetrapod.

  • 최근 기존 암거구조물에 하수관로 등 추가적인 관로의 설치에 의해 암거 구조물이 손상을 입는 경우가 종종 발생되고 있으나, 현장여건상 이에 대한 구조적 안전성의 검토가 미비한 채 시공이 이루어지는 경우가 많다. 이에 본 연구에서는 기존 암거의 상단부에 흄관이 관통하였을 경우 block-out된 암거구조물의 구조적 거동을 검토하기 위하여, 암거구조물의 손상 인접부위의 종방향 및 횡방향 휨모멘트를 구조해석에 의해 산출하고, 이들 구조해석 결과에 의해 block-out된 암거의 손상 인접부위에 대한 구조안전성 검토를 수행하였다.(중략)

  • This paper develops a flow control block for a hydraulic system of a tunnel boring machine. The flow control block is a necessary component to ensure stability in the operation of the hydraulic system. In order to know the pressure distribution of the flow control block, the flow analysis was performed using the ANSYS-CFX. It was confirmed that the pressure and flow rate were normally supplied to the hydraulic system even if one of the four ports of the flow control block was not operated. In order to evaluate the structural stability of the flow control block, structural analysis was performed using the ANSYS WORKBENCH. As a result, the safety factor of the flow control block is 1.54 and the structural stability is secured.

  • Currently, shipyards are using ship block supports to hold various pre-erection (PE) blocks during ship construction work. The height adjustment method of the ship block support is performed by workers hammering and driving the wedge part, which requires repetitive high-load work. Accordingly, there are concerns about musculoskeletal diseases and safety accidents. To prevent safety accidents and improve work efficiency, this study developed a block support height adjustment device using a hydraulic cylinder. It was designed considering the ease of movement of the block support height adjustment device and the ease of adjusting the height of the block support by workers within the shipyard. Numerical analysis was conducted to confirm the critical points of the structural members of the designed block support height adjustment device and to verify the safety of the stress-based structure. As a result of the analysis, it was confirmed that the stress occurring at the critical point of the structural member was lower than the design allowable stress, making it structurally safe. Afterwards, the block support height adjustment device was redesigned for lightweight, and after verification of structural safety through numerical analysis, a prototype was manufactured and performance evaluation was conducted.
