This paper shows the test results of continuous reinforced concrete beams with external post-tensioning rods. Six three-span beams were prepared and tested to fail. Three beams were designed to have flexure-dominating behavior and the others to have shear-critical behavior. In each group, one beam without external post-tensioning rods was designated as a control beam and two beams had the external post-tensioning rods of 18 mm or 22 mm diameter. External post-tensioning rods were installed within an interior span of 6000 mm. They show V-shaped configuration because two anchorages were located at the top of interior supports and a saddle pin at mid-span was installed at the bottom of the beam. Test results show that the load and shear capacities of strengthened beams were increased when compared with the control beam. Additionally, the measured shear strength was compared with the strength predicted by ACI 318-11 code equations. The detailed ACI 318-11 equation predicted the measured shear strength and failure location of the continuous beam reasonably well.
The distance in load parameter space to the closest voltage collapse point provides the worst case power margin and the left eigenvector identifies the most effective direction to steer the system to maximize voltage stability under contingency. This paper presents the results of the comparative performance study of the algorithms, which are applicable to a large scale power system, for computing the closest saddle node bifurcation (CSNB) point. Dobson's iterative method converges with robustness. However the slow process of updating the load increasing direction makes the algorithm less efficient. The direct method converges very quickly. But it diverges if the initial guess is not very close to CSNB. Zeng's method of estimating the approximate critical point in the pre-determined direction is attractive in the sense that it uses only using load flow equations. However, the method is found to be less efficient than Dobson's iterative method. It may be concluded from the above observation that the direct method with the initial values obtained by carrying out the iterative method twice is most efficient at this time and more efficient algorithms are needed for on-line application.
Flexible stretch forming is an appropriate process for manufacturing of components for aerospace, shipbuilding and architecture structures. Flexible stretch forming has several advantages including that it could be applied to form various shapes such as ones with double curved surfaces. In this study, a systematic numerical simulation was conducted for forming double curved surfaces using flexible stretch forming. The desired surface had a saddle type configuration. It had two radii one of 2500mm and the other of 2000mm along its length and width. In the simulation, the decrease of elastic recovery due to the stretching was confirmed. Experiments were also conducted to confirm the viability of the process. By comparing the simulation to the experiment results, the suitability of flexible stretch forming for double curved surfaces was verified. From the results, the maximum error from desired surface was confirmed at about 1.3mm at the edge of the surface. Hence, it is confirmed that flexible stretch forming has the capability and feasibility to manufacture curved surfaces for architectural skin-structures of buildings.
The purpose of this paper is to explore the concept of the fitness and the way of the inspection in the Leadership study. Although the study of the fitness is recently increased, however, the concept recognition and the positive analysis on the inspection of the fitness isn't in the saddle and by inspecting after the operationalization, the theory and the result don't often correspond. So, This study is to help the following study and provide the conception and the problem of the analysis on the centering the fitness of the moderator and the mediation.

The induction heating is more efficient for a plate bending because of its easy operation and control of working parameters compared with the heating by torch. In this study, a more efficient method was proposed for the prediction of plate bending. The existing analysis method using the axi-symmetric coil model could not handle the varying temperature during the heating and the forming process for curved plates like a saddle or a concave type curvature. The proposed method using some discrete steps in this study could overcome these difficulties and show more accurate, reasonable results in temperatures and deflections of fiat or curved plates. This method is composed of multi-disciplinary analyses such as an electro-magnetic analysis, a heat transfer analysis and a deformation analysis based on inherent strain approach.

To compare the effectiveness of the hemisling, bobath sling, extension-type sling, and the newly designed Modified Triangular Bobath Sling with Distal Support on a hemiplegic shoulder subluxation. Fourteen hemiplegic patients with shoulder subluxation were evaluated by a simple X-ray with and without the slings and the vertical and horizontal distances on the plain AP views were measurement. The newly designed arm sling was compared in terms of the effects of correction with distal support attached with shoulder saddle sling. The arm sling designed for this study was developed for the purpose of maintaining patients hands in a functional position and performing ROM exercise of the shoulder easily, and prevention or correction to shoulder subluxation. The mean values of the vertical and horizontal distance were compared to determine if there was significant difference of function between the new sling and the conventional slings. The new sling provided the patients with good vertical correction of the subluxation(p<0.05) but did not increase the horizontal distance significantly. These results support the effectiveness of a new sling to decrease subluxation in hemiplegia. Further study on the long term effects or complication of the new sling is recommended.

The saddle node bifurcation (SNB) and the distance voltage instability are valuable information in power system planning and operation. This paper presents a new efficient, robust and unified strategy to compute the SNB by the combined use of the continuation power flow (CPF), Point of Collapse (PoC) method, and the method of a pair of multiple load flow solutions (PMLFS) with Lagrange interpolation utilizing only their advantages: the approximate nose curves and critical loading are determined fast by Lagrange-interpolating two stable and two unstable solutions obtained by using the robust CPF and PMLFS; the exact SNB is computed by the quadratically converging PoC method. The proposed method has been tested on Klos-Kerner 11-bus, New England 30-bus, IEEE 118-bus and KEPCO 791-bus systems. The method is found to be so efficient that computation time for determining the SNB of the KEPCO 791-bus system is 17.82 sec by a notebook PC with 300 MHz Pentium processor.
In this study, an anthropomorphic robot Hand, called "SKKU Hand III" is presented. The hand has thirteen DOF(Degree-Of-Freedom) and is designed based on the skeletal structure of the human hand. Each finger module(except thumb module) has three DOF and four joints with a saddle joint mechanism which has two DOF at the base joint. Two distal joints of the finger module are mechanically coupled by a timing belt and pulleys. The thumb module is composed of a finger module and an additional actuator, which makes it possible to realize the opposition between the thumb and the other fingers. In addition, the palm DOF of the human hand is mimicked with a spatial link mechanism between the index finger and the thumb. Thus, it can grasp objects more stably and more strongly. For the modularization of the robotic hand all the driving circuits are embedded in the hand, and only the communication lines supporting CAN protocol with DC power cable are given as an interface. Therefore, it is possible to apply it to any robot system the interface. To validate the feasibility of the SKKU Hand III, a series of the representative grasp experiments such as power, precision, intermediate grasp etc. are carried out with the object around us and its operation is demonstrated.

Large curved plate blocks are widely used to construct hull structure in shipbuilding industry. Most curved plates are manufactured by using manual method called as line heating that use deformation caused by residual stress after local heating along a line which is perpendicular to the curvature direction. However, its working environment is poor and its formability is totally dependent on an experienced technician. In view of that, multi-point dieless forming (MDF) technology that use reconfigurable punch arrays instead of one piece die is proposed in this study. The MDF process is based on a concept of equivalent die surface made by numbers of punches which has round tip at the end of it. In this study, numerical simulation for common curvature type such as saddle shape was carried out. In addition, experiments in the plate forming process were also conducted to compare with the numerical results in view of final configuration. Consequently, it was noted that the proposed dieless forming method has considerable feasibility to substitute the new process for conventional manual method.

Augumentation rhinoplasty using autogenous cranial bone graft(outer table)can be used more successfully than other methods. In patients with congenital or posttraumatic severe saddle nose deformity and lateral deviation, cranial bone graft is an excellent method of augumentation. The adventages of cranial bone graft compaired with traditional method of bone graft are summarized as follows ; 1. easy to reach donor site 2. abundance of materal 3. little pain and functional disability 4. shorter hospitalization period 5. unconspicuous donor scar 6. no secondary deformity of donor site 7. appropriate curvature can be obtained by proper selection of donor site. With the above advantages, we conclude that augumentation rhinoplasty using split cranial bone graft is a good method in correction of congenital or posttraumatic deformity of nose.
