  • CG and Photo-realistic image composition in the ocean scenes is frequently used in movies and TV advertisement. But it is very difficult task because it's impossible to use calibration tool in outdoor environment or to use auto-calibration algorithm using natural features like KLT(Kanade Lucas Tomasi feature tracker) from the ocean scene. We propose a simple, effective method for solving camera motion using previous knowledge about background structure. We applied our method to the production of a commercial movie, 'Hanbando' and the result was satisfactory.

  • The construction industry's lack of experience and expertise makes it difficult for projects to realize the full benefits of implementing modular construction. Such project performance-hindering elements are often labeled as modular challenges. The added requirement for the transportation of the finished volumetric module is one aspect of the 'module transportation logistics,' the under-researched modular challenge that can prevent projects from incurring maximum cost and productivity benefits. The typical module transportation phases include lifting, transporting, and offloading. From conducting a literature review, this paper aims to investigate the equipment commonly adopted to lift and offload the module and validate its economic efficiency by comparing it with the alternative lifting/offloading equipment used in the two case projects. The results showed that hydraulic jacks are an economic alternative to the crane for lifting/offloading the module. The increase in single-module projects with smaller budgets made crane usage economically undesirable, and this study suggested a viable option for a more economical alternative.

  • This study explored Chinese traditional art aesthetics in the , focusing on three elements 'principle', 'dance', 'blank' which consist of the artistic conception of Zong Baihua. In addition, this paper is aimed to prove that Chinese traditional aesthetics is still available as a creative element that can provides future direction and implication for modern animation movies by analyzing how the components of these three elements were used in the and how the artistic beauty of the animation was presented. In the critiques of Chinese art, the scope of 'conception' is the 'qualified' standard about art. This 'qualified' standard includes not only external similarity in forms but also internal similarity in spirits. The authors of the early Chinese animations integrated the artistic conceptions with the animations and expressed the national cultural contents of the Chinese animations, so that the audience could deeply understand the characteristics of Chinese animation with cultural and spiritual contents. Based on the artistic conceptions that Zong Baihua proposed, this study analyzed the character setting, the ideas that connotes and the scene composition. succeeded to the innovative spirits about Chinese early animation conceptions. The animation presented the view of life that includes the absolute freedom from Zhuangzi's "A Happy Excursion" and the oblivion of external objects. The heroine Spring's change from human to dolphin was presented by dancing. Besides, in the animation, the sea of clouds, the sky full of stars, sea, the sea melting into the sky were also presented in quantity. The large area of colors fantastically presenting in 'blank' scenes fully expressed the stories and sentiments of this animation. According to the analysis in this study, by identifying the traditional atmosphere that included heavy Chinese characteristics and harmonious conceptions in through the wisdom of Chinese classics and artistic conceptions, it can be confirmed that nowadays the artistic tradition of the classics still works as an extending innovative element in the future animations.

  • The Middle Carboniferous Manhang and Geumcheon formations in Taebaek area consist of sandstones, shales, and limestones. The limestones of the formations contain abundant conodonts, fusulinids, crinoids, brachiopods, bryozoans, corals, etc. This study was carried out to investigate the microfacies of limestones and conodont faunas of the formations and to determine their paleoecology in detail. The limestones of the Manhang and Geumcheon formations of the study area consist of wackestone and packstone which are composed of crinoid fragments and other various fossil fragments. Some limestone beds of the Geumcheon Formation consist of only Chaetetes corals which indicate that the limestones deposited in a warm shallow sea. Conodonts found from limestones of the Manhang Formation are Neognathodus bothrops, N. medexultimus, Hindeodus minutus, Diplognathodus coloradoensis, D. edentulus, Idiognathodus delicatus, Streptognathodus elegantulus, and S. sp. And conodonts found from the limestones of the Geumcheon Formation are Neognathodus medexultimus, N. roundyi, N. dilatus, Gondolella bella, Diplognathodus coloradoensis, D. edentulus, Hindeodus minutus, Idiognathodus delicatus, and Streptognathodus elegantulus. Among these conodonts, Diplognathodus coloradoensis, D. edentulus, and Hindeodus minutu, are found generally from limestones which deposited in the shallow seas. • The increase in human use and activity in the oceans is leading to marine pollution and habitat destruction. As a result, in particular, marine animals with a long life cycle and small population are threatened with extinction. Thus, the Korean government designated 11 artificial habitats, such as aquariums and marine museums, as Ex-situ conservation institutions to preserve endangered marine life in 2010. However, studies on the significance and economic value of Ex-situ conservation institutions providing marine life conservation services have not been conducted. Thus, the purpose of this study was to estimate the public's quantitative support for the operation policy of Ex-situ conservation institutions, which is a management method for the protection and propagation of marine animals in Korea. To achieve this, the economic value of the marine animal conservation role of the National Maritime Museum was estimated, operated as an Ex-situ conservation institution for the preservation of green turtles in Korea. By using the representative non-market valuation method for public goods known as the contingent valuation method (CVM), the economic value of the Ex-situ conservation institution (National Maritime Museum) was estimated at approximately 41.8 billion won to a maximum of 78.1 billion won. The results of this study can be applied as basic data for marine animal management policymakers in establishing efficient management plans for endangered marine animals in Korea's coastal waters.

  • The necessity of aggregate resources in Korea has been increased with a rapid economic growth since the 1990s. Construction activities have been increased drastically for last two decades. Such economic activities are much concentrated at big cities in Korea, and recently new neighbouring cities, such as multifunctional administrative city, enterprise city and innocity, are under construction at the surroundings of the cities. This new urbanization asked for an appropriate supply of raw construction materials such as cement, sands and gravels. The aim of this study is to understand and discuss the analysis and prospect of supply and demand of domestic sand and gravel. On the early years, 1990s, about 25% of the total consumption of these sands and gravels comes from riverine deposits; 20% to 25% from marine sands, 40% to 45% from forest rocks and the rest 5% to 15% from old fluvial deposits and crushed rocks. But nowaday the river aggregate, including both sands and gravels of a present river channel and those of the old fluviatile system are decreasing, while the crushed and forest aggregates and marine sand are now the main source of infrastructure resources. Thus it is increasingly necessary to investigate the forest and crushed aggregate resources potential in Korea where a current analysis indicate that the supply of riverine aggregates gradually decreases.

  • To understand the spatiotemporal distribution pattern of zooplankton and the environmental factors influencing zooplankton abundance in Gomso Bay, major harvesting area of Manila clam (Venerupis philippinarum) in South Korea, zooplankton sampling was conducted four times in autumn (October 2022), winter (January 2023), early spring (March 2023), and spring (May 2023). Among the environmental factors of Gomso Bay, water temperature, chlorophyll a concentration (Chl-a), dissolved oxygen (DO), and pH observed different patterns, while salinity and suspended particulate matter(SPM) showed no significant statistical differences between the survey periods. The zooplankton in Gomso Bay occurred 33, 29, 27, and 29 taxonomic groups during each respective survey period. In October 2022 and May 2023, arthropod plankton were dominated, while in January and March 2023, protozoa were primarily dominant. Among the Arthropods, copepods including Acartia hongi, Paracalanus parvus s. l., Corycaeus spp., and Oithona spp. commonly found along Korean coastal areas of the Yellow Sea, were dominated. Cluster analysis based on zooplankton abundance indicated a single community (stable condition) in each season, attributed to low dissimilarity distances, while three distinct clusters (autumn, winter-early spring, spring) between seasons indicated a highly seasonal environment in Gomso Bay.
