This study compared FTIR with XRD method for the analysis of quartz by % recovery, coefficient of variation (CV) and influence of the interference. the results were as the following. 1. In FTIR method, the coefficient of determination ($r^2$) was 0.9998 in a calibration curve of $695\;cm^{-1}$, and the limit of detection was $4.9{\mu}g/sample$. 2. The highest recovery was $799\;cm^{-1}$ (98.2%). 3. The CVpooled of the FTIR method was approximately 10% in three wave numbers. 4. The analysis of qualitative and quantitative for quartz is difficult with mixed cristobalite and iron oxide. 5. In XRD method with rotating sample holder and LynxEye detector, the coefficient of determination was 0.9996 in a calibration curve, and the limit of detection was $5.9{\mu}g/sample$. 6. The recovery and CV pooled were 104.3%, and 11 %, respectively. 7. In muffle furnace ashing, the quartz weight decreased to 34% when the maximum weight of the iron oxide was more than eight times. In conclusion, the accuracy (% recovery) and precision (CV) of FTIR and XRD method for analyzing $\alpha$-quartz were similar. FTIR method was a disadvantage for sample matrix because it indicates possibility of interference. However, XRD method distinguished specific crystalline forms of silica, and the majority of silicate minerals. In addition, XRD method recommend filter dissolution to pretreatment method.

In this paper, we designed axis-displaced Gregorian antenna by using Ray-tracing method. This antenna improves gain, VSWR by rotating the axis of the sub-reflector to get rid of E-field wave returned from sub-reflector to feed horn. Therefore it reduce the sub-reflector size and the volume of antenna. This method is used to track the propagation path for radiation pattern of feed horn from feed horn to sub-reflector, main-reflector and air. We get E-field distribution of this antenna aperture and calculate antenna radiation pattern and optimize the antenna performance. The Ray-tracing Method was verified because the gain, radiation patterns, side lobe level, beam width and return loss of the designed antenna are very similar to CST simulation result and a measured result of the fabricated antenna.

The electrical current generated by heart creates not only electric potential but also a magnetic field. We have observed electrophysiological phenomena of the heart by measuring components of magnetocardiogram(MCG) using 61 channel superconducting quantum interference device(SQUD) system. We have analyzed the possibility and characteristics of MCG parameters for diagnosis of ischemic heart disease. A technique for automatic analysis of MCG signals in time domain was developed. The methods for detecting the position, the interval, the amplitude ratio, and the direction of single current dipole were examined in the MCG wave. The position and interval parameters were obtained by calculating the gradients of a envelope curve which could be formed by the difference between the maximum and minimum envelope of multi-channel MCG signals. We show some differences of the frequency contour map between the normal MCG and the abnormal (ischemic heart disease) MCG. The direction of single current dipole can be defined by rotating the magnetic field according to Biot-Savart's law at each point of MCG signals. In this study, we have examined the direction of single current dipole from searching for the centroids of positive and negative magnetic fields. The amplitude ratio parameters for measuring 57 deviation consisted of A$_{T}$/A$_{R}$ and other ratios. and We developed a new analysis method, which is based on the frequency contour map of electromagnetic field. Using theses parameters, we founded significant differences between normal subjects and ischemic patients in some parameters.
This paper describes the detection method of wire-like obstacles using millimeter-wave radar system. Passive sensor like CCD camera can be used for the detection of high power electric cables on the hills or mountains and it can give very good quality of obstacle target information. But this system is very limited to use by bad weather condition. The detection capability for different diameters of wire targets using millimeter radar system have been accomplished. To simulate the target on the moving helicopter, rotating targets are used with fixed radar system. In the experiment 11mm, 16mm and 22mm diameter of wires have been detected in single, two and three wires in one position. The detected signal from single wire was very clear on gray level image. Three wires placed very closely together could be recognized in range, cross range image plane. For two and three wires, blur effect due to mutual scattering effect is observed.

This paper deploys optimization techniques to obtain the optimum hull form of KSUEZMAX at the conditions of full-load draft and design speed. The processes have been carried out using a RaPID-HOP program. The bow and the stern hull-forms are optimized separately without altering neither, and the resulting versions of the two are then combined. Objective functions are the minimum values of wave-making and viscous pressure resistance coefficients for the bow and stern. Parametric modification functions for the bow hull-form variation are SAC shape, section shape (U-V type, DLWL type), bulb shape (bulb height and size); and those for the stern are SAC and section shape (U-V type, DLWL type). WAVIS version 1.3 code is used for the potential and the viscous-flow solver. Prior to the optimization, a parametric study has been conducted to observe the effects of design parameters on the objective functions. SQP has been applied for the optimization algorithm. The model tests have been conducted at a towing tank to evaluate the resistance performance of the optimized hull-form. It has been noted that the optimized hull-form brings 2.4% and 6.8% reduction in total and residual resistance coefficients compared to those of the original hull-form. The propulsive efficiency increases by 2.0% and the delivered power is reduced 3.7%, whereas the propeller rotating speed increases slightly by 0.41 rpm.

We have developed a smart decontamination device for small-size radioactive scrap metal (SSRSM) necessarily generated from nuclear facilities. This is a multi-modal device such as rotation of magnetic field focusing on the region containing the abrasion pins placed around target and ultrasonic cleaner. Additionally, in order to increase the decontamination efficiency we have modified some configuration of the device so that it could work on them evenly and totally. With the Optimal operating for operation of the new device, we tried to decontaminate some various metal selected as a sample during 15 minutes sequentially using each method, magnetic and ultrasonic device. As a result, the range of decontamination factor has been highly increased to 18~56. After decontamination, all samples were found its activity less than background level.

This paper describes specular reflectance measurements of dielectric plates in three waveguide frequency bands: D-band (110-170 GHz), G-band (140-220 GHz), and J-band (220-325 GHz). The transmit (Tx) part of the proposed specular reflectance measurement system is stationary, while the receive (Rx) part and the material under test (MUT) holder are concentric-rotating with a 2:1 speed ratio for specular reflectance measurements. In specular reflectance measurements, the first step measures the specular reflection coefficients of an MUT and a metal plate on the MUT holder located at the center of the Tx and Rx parts, and the second step calculates the specular reflectance defined by the specular reflection power (i.e., intensity) of the MUT normalized to that of the metal plate. Multiple reflection effects between the Tx and Rx antennas and the MUT on the measured specular reflectance are minimized by averaging out the multiple specular reflectances measured with changing the separation distance between the two antennas by ${\lambda}/8$ intervals. Measurement results of the perpendicular-polarized specular reflectance of commonly used dielectric plates are verified by comparing those with the analytic results and show that the results measured over the overlapped frequency range of the D-/G-bands and at the boundary frequency of the G-/J-bands agree well with the results for the other band, respectively.

An actuator using piezoceramic material was designed in order to perform a flow control for flat plate flow. Boundary layer measurements were carried out to explore the flow disturbances by the designed actuator that was activated at low excitation frequency(15Hz). The mean velocity and fluctuation in the boundary layers were measured at $x/{\delta}^*=31.9$ downstream from the actuator tip by a one-dimensional hot-wire probe(55P14). Results reveal that low- and high-velocity regions were observed in the vicinity of the actuator center and in the outer area of the actuator respectively, and the formation of counter-rotating streamwise vortices was predicted. The fluctuations were persistently found in the outer part of the actuator and an inflection point in the spanwise gradient of the streamwise velocity was observed. Boundary layer instability was amplified at both the actuator excitation frequency and the T-S wave frequency when the actuator was excited at low frequency.

The purpose of simple abdomen erect projection is to see the fluid level which indicates gastrointestinal ileus or free air due to perforation. we do not have to insist on low kVp technique in simple abdomen erect position as long as we can detect the fluid level and free air shadow. Therefore, the author tried to decrease patient dose by high kVp technique and to improve the image quality due to motion artifact by reduction of exposure time. [Methods] Experiment 1. * screen/film SRO1000/HRH * exposure factor : $140\;kvp{\pm}5\;kv$ with added filters, 200 mA, 0.01 sec * phantom : Acryles : 15.0 cm(equivalent to 17 cm body thickness) 17.5 cm(equivalent to 21 cm body thickness) 20.0 cm (equivalent to 25 cm body thickness) With the exposure factor for same film density($D=0.8{\pm}0.1$) and with the materials above, we tried to find out entrance skin dose and gonad dose for both male and female. Experiment 2. Burger's phantom radiography were checked to see whether there was any change of image quality according to the kVp and the added filters. Experiment 3. Using rotating meter(self made), we examined the motion artifact and the exposure time limitation. [Results and conculution] 1. Using high voltage technique of 140 kVp with added filter, Skin dose, testicle dose and ovary dose decrease to 89.3%, 47% and 71.4% respectively compare to 70 kVp technique, 2. No great changes of Burger's phantom image has detected as from 70 kVp to 140 kVp and the air hole size of Burger's phantom over 0.028 cc(Diameter 3 mm, hight 4 mm) can be distinghished. 3. 0.01 sec(1 pulse) exposure time is possible in the single phase full wave rectification that why we can quitely reduce the unsharness caused by patient's movement.

Basin-scale motions in a stratified lake rely on interactions of spatially and temporally varying wind force, bathymetry, density variation, and earth's rotation. These motions provide a major driving force for vertical and horizontal mixing of inorganic and organic materials, dissolved oxygen, storm water and floating debris in stratified lakes. In Lake Tahoe, located between California and Nevada, USA, basin-scale circulations are obviously important because they are directly associated with the fate of the suspended particulate materials that degrade the clarity of the lake. A three-dimensional hydrodynamic model, ELCOM, was applied to Lake Tahoe to investigate the underlying mechanisms that determine the characteristics of basin-scale circulations. Numerical experiments were designed to examine the relative effects of various mechanisms responsible for the horizontal circulations for two different seasons, summer and winter. The unique double gyre, a cyclonic northern gyre and an anti-cyclonic southern gyre, occurred during the winter cooling season when wind stress curl, stratification, and Coriolis effect were all incorporated. The horizontal structure of the upwelling and downwelling formed due to basin-scale internal waves found to be closely related to the rotating direction of each gyre. In the summer, the spatially varying wind field and the Coriolis effect caused a dominant anti-cyclonic gyre to develop in the center of the lake. In the winter, a significant wind event excited internal waves, and a persistent (2 week long) cyclonic gyre formed near the upwelling zone. Mechanism of the persistent cyclonic gyre is explained as a geostrophic circulation ensued by balancing of the baroclinc pressure gradient (or baroclinic instability) and Coriolis effect. Topographic effect, examined by simulating a flat bathymetry with constant depth of 300m, was found to be significant during the winter cooling season but not as significant as the wind curl and baroclinic effects.
