  • Digital airborne image must be precisely orthorectified to become geographical information. For orthorectification of airborne images, GPS/INS (Global Positioning System/Inertial Navigation System) and LIDAR (LIght Detection And Ranging) elevation data were employed. In this study, 635 frame airborne images were produced and LIDAR data were converted to raster image for applying to image orthorectification. To derive images with constant brightness, flat field correction was applied to images. The airborne images were geometrically corrected by calculating internal orientation and external orientation using GPS/INS data and then orthorectified using LIDAR digital elevation model image. The precision of orthorectified images was validated by collecting 50 ground control points from arbitrary five images and LIDAR intensity image. As validation result, RMSE (Root Mean Square Error) was 0.387 as almost same as only two times of pixel spatial resolution. It is possible that this automatic orthorectification method of airborne image with higher precision is applied to airborne image industry.

  • Surface solar radiation over the sea is estimated using the visible and infrared spin scan radiometer (VISSR) data onboard Geostationary Meteorological Satellite(GMS)-5 from January 1997 to December 1997 in clear and cloudy conditions. The hourly insolation is estimated with a spatial resolution of $5km{\times}5km$ grid. The island pyranometer operated by the Japan Meteorological Agency(JMA) is used to validate the estimated insolation. The root mean square error of the hourly estimated insolation is $104W/m^2$ with 0.91 of the correlation coefficient. In the variability of the hourly solar radiation investigated around the Korean Peninsula, the maximum value of solar radiation is found in June at the Yellow Sea and the East Sea, while in August at the South Sea because of low pressure conditions and front in June.

  • It was compared the estimated parameters by the surplus production from three different models, i.e., three types (Schaefer, Gulland, and Schnute) of the traditional surplus production models, a stock production model incorporating covariates (ASPIC) model and a maximum entropy (ME) model. We also evaluated the performance of models in the estimation of their parameters. The maximum sustainable yield (MSY) of small yellow croaker (Pseudosciaena polyactis) in Korean waters ranged from 35,061 metric tons (mt) by Gulland model to 44,844mt by ME model, and fishing effort at MSY ($f_{MSY}$) ranged from 262,188hauls by Schnute model to 355,200hauls by ME model. The lowest root mean square error (RMSE) for small yellow croaker was obtained from the Gulland surplus production model, while the highest RMSE was from Schnute model. However, the highest coefficient of determination ($R^2$) was from the ME model, but the ASPIC model yielded the lowest coefficient. On the other hand, the MSY of Kapenta (Limnothrissa miodon) ranged from 16,880 mt by ASPIC model to 25,373mt by ME model, and $f_{MSY}$, from 94,580hauls by ASPIC model to 225,490hauls by Schnute model. In this case, both the lowest root mean square error (RMSE) and the highest coefficient of determination ($R^2$) were obtained from the ME model, which showed relatively better fits of data to the model, indicating that the ME model is statistically more stable and robust than other models. Moreover, the ME model could provide additional ecologically useful parameters such as, biomass at MSY ($B_{MSY}$), carrying capacity of the population (K), catchability coefficient (q) and the intrinsic rate of population growth (r).

  • The study purpose was to test the validity and reliability of the Korean version of the Revised Stress Appraisal Measure (RSAM) to assess stress appraisal in undergraduate students. Internal consistency reliability, construct and criterion validity were calculated using IBM SPSS Statistics 21 and AMOS 21 program. Survey data were collected from a convenience sample of 296 undergraduate students enrolled in five universities in G city and C area, South Korea. The Korean version of RSAM categorized into 5 factors explaining 68.4% of the total variance. The model of five subscales was validated by confirmatory factor analysis (p<.001, Goodness of Fit Index, Adjusted Goodness of Fit Index, Normed Fit Index, Comparative Fit Index >.08, Root Mean Square Error of Approximation=.056). In criterion validity, the scores for the scale were significantly correlated with the Perceived Stress Scale-Korean. Cronbach's alpha coefficient for the 19 items was .73~.89. The Korean RSAM showed satisfactory construct and criterion validity and reliability. Thus it may be an appropriate instrument for measuring stress appraisal in Korean university students.

  • UAV(unmanned aerial vehicle) can quickly produce orthoimage with high-spatial resolution and DSM(digital surface model) at low cost. However, vertical and horizontal positioning accuracy of orthoimage and DSM, which are obtained by UAV, are influenced by image processing techniques, quality of aerial photo, the number and position of GCPs(ground control points) and overlap in flight plan. In this study, effects of overlap and the number of GCPs are analyzed in orthoimage and DSM. Positioning accuracy are estimated based on RMSE(root mean square error) by using dataset of nine pairs. In the experiments, Overlaps and the number of GCPs have influence on horizontal and vertical accuracy of orthoimage and DSM.

  • The objectives of this study were to assess the rice yields and evaluate fertilizer reduction effect of reclaimed wastewater irrigation in paddy fields using the Decision Support System for Agrotechnology Transfer (DSSAT) v4.5 model. The experimental plots were designed, which was located near the Suwon wastewater treatment plant in Gyeonggi-do, Korea. The rice yield, irrigation amount, irrigation water quality and soil data were monitored and collected between 2006 and 2009. The DSSAT model was calibrated and validated with observed data. The methods that were used to evaluate this model were the root mean square error (RMSE), normalized root mean square error (nRMSE), and index of agreement (d). The values of RMSE, nRMSE, and d ranged from 145 to $789\;kg\;ha^{-1}$, 3.0 to 13.3 %, and 0.90 to 0.95 for the calibration period, respectively and represented from 91 to $538\;kg\;ha^{-1}$, 2.0 to 10.4 %, 0.94 to 0.98 for the validation period, respectively. Overall, this model showed good agreement with observed data of rice yields irrigated with reclaimed wastewater. The fertilizer reduction effect in paddy field of reclaimed wastewater irrigation was assessed about 60 % in 2008 and 40 % in 2009.

  • Recently an intelligent system is developed for the service what users want not a passive system which just answered user's request. This intelligent system is used for personalized recommendation system and representative techniques are content-based and collaborative filtering. In this study, we propose a prediction system which is based on the techniques of recommendation system using a collaborative filtering and a fuzzy system to solve the collaborative filtering problems. In order to verify the prediction system, we used the data that is user's rating about movies. We predicted the user's rating using this data. The accuracy of this prediction system is determined by computing the RMSE(root mean square error) of the system's prediction against the actual rating about the each movie and is compared with the existing system. Thus, this prediction system can be applied to base technology of recommendation system and also recommendation of multimedia such as music and books.

  • Stream flow data was analyzed for determining the lowflow which is the standard for river maintenance flow. Lowflow quantiles were estimated based on the parametric and nonparametric methods and two methods were compared by Monte Carlo simulation study. As the results of the parametric method, three probability distributions such as gamma-2, lognormal-2 and Weibull-2, are selected as appropriate models for stream flow data of 13 stations in Han River Basins. According to simulation results, relative bias (RBIAS) and relative root mean square error (RRMSE) of the lowflow quantiles are the smallest when the applied and population models are the same. The fame statistical properties from the nonparametric models are good within the interpolation range. Among 7 bandwidth selectors used in this study, the RRMSEs of the Park and Marron method (PM) are the smallest while those of the Shoaler and Jones method (SJ) are the largest.

  • Benzene is one of the most widely used basic materials in the petrochemical industry. Generally, benzene exists as a mixture with alcohols rather than as a pure substance. Further, the alcohols-added mixtures usually exhibit an azeotropic composition. In this context, knowledge of the phase equilibrium behavior of the mixture is essential for its separation and purification. In this study, the vapor-liquid equilibrium data were measured in favor of a recirculating VLE apparatus under constant pressure for the 1 - propanol / benzene system. The measured vapor - liquid equilibrium data were also correlated by using the UNIQUAC and WILSON models and the thermodynamic consistency test based on the Gibbs/Duhem equation was followed. The results of the phase equilibrium experiment revealed RMSEs (Root Mean Square Error) and AADs (Average Absolute Deviation) of less than 0.05 for both models, indicating a good agreement between the experimental value and the calculated value. The results of the thermodynamic consistency test also confirmed through the residual term within ${\pm}0.2$.

  • Several methods which utilize the phase of Zernike moments (ZMs) to estimate the rotation angle have shown good performance in terms of accuracy. In this paper, we provides the performance comparison results of the existing rotation angle estimation methods based on ZMs and propose an extension of Revaud et al.'s method [1] which utilizes the phase of ZMs; the proposed method uses angular radial transform coefficients instead of ZMs and yields better performance than the ZMs based methods in terms of accuracy. A set of ART can describe angular variation of image more intensively than ZMs, it enables more accurate estimation of the rotation angle than ZMs. In the experiments, the proposed method outperforms ZMs based method. Comparisons were made in terms of the root mean square error vs. the coverage on MPEG-7 shape dataset.
