The purpose of this study is to develop a standard calculation program of forest road drainage facilities that may help forest road designers to design forest road drainage facilities more conveniently and precisely. Especially, the characteristics of this program is that the forest road designers may calculate the amount of outflow in the basin using rainfall intensity data conveniently, without the data designers should acquire through site measurements when they carry out indoor preliminary measurements before they go out for outdoor measurements. In this manner, excessive design may be restrained by offering minimum standard calculation for drainage structures. And also this study was designed to facilitate proper layout of drainage structures by calculating outflow discharge of each basin where forest roads will be installed. Especially, this study will contribute to leveling-up of forest design techniques as the researcher has prepared the reports on whole process of drain pipe installation and provided them in the form of computer file or printout, which show a rational design process, and make it possible to modify in case of an error.
To maintain the primary stage of design, it is not too much to say that drainage systems should has been to maintain the most factor in earthwork structures. The durability of earthwork structures has about over 90 years as like concrete structures and has easily used to construction materials. Even if is a good earthwork materials, it hasn't lose design life at inadequate drainage system. In case of railway was frequently performed a maintenance works after construction 5 years because embankment site hasn't installed a concrete duck. In this study, the drainage standard of railway reviews the technological levels of drainage system by comparing the code for design of railway and road.

The design methods of the road surface drainage facilities were compared for the improvement of design method. We have developed four computational design models classified by the methods to determine the duration of design rainfall and to analyze the flow of a linear drainage channel. The critical duration was determined by assuming the critical duration to be 10 minutes or by finding the duration of design storm being similar to the travel time of flow by trial and error. The flow of a linear drainage channel was analyzed as the uniform flow or the varied flow. The design models were applied to the artificial road surface drainage facilities with various channel slopes and road shoulder slopes. If the rainfall intensity of the 10 minutes duration was applied, the outlet spacing obtained from the design based on the varied flow analysis was larger than the uniform flow analysis only when the channel slope and the road shoulder slope was small. On the other hands, if the duration of design rainfall was determined by calculating the travel time, the varied flow analysis brought about larger outlet spacing than the uniform analysis for all conditions. However, the model of the critical duration concept and the varied flow analysis resulted in smaller outlet spacing than the current design method employing the rainfall of 10 minutes duration and the uniform flow analysis.
This paper describes the cause and measure of road structures failures in Kangwon area for year 2006 rain fall. Localized rainfall due to abnormal climate generates rock or dirt flows in upper stream and leads, the road structure failure located on mountains terrane. Main cause of such failures erosion, debris-flow, insufficient supply of culvert drainage system in ravine areas. It is needed to enhance the design methodology of road-drainage system and the remediation technology of rock and dirt flows

This study examined the damage characteristics through investigation for a total of 10 factors (longitudinal position, crossing position, soil type, collecting well volume, outlet position, water apron material, waterway existence, pipe culvert diameter, pipe culvert gradient, pipe culvert height) affecting outlet damages of forest road cross drainage for forest roads in the Research Forest of Kangwon National University. We predicted outlet damages of forest road cross drainage for forest roads using a discriminant analysis Results showed that longitudinal position, crossing position, soil type and pipe culvert height did not affect damages caused to forest road cross drainage. Most influential factors affecting outlet damages were outlet position, waterway existence, pipe culvert diameter, pipe culvert gradient and collecting well volume, respectively. The discriminant ratio calculated from the developed discriminant function was 68.8% which is reasonably reliable.
Recently, typhoons or heavy rainfalls frequently occurred because of the effect of global warming, which caused serious damage such as landslide of mountain road, debris flow and uplift seepage pressure. Uplift seepage pressure induced on the pavement of mountain roads may cause serious pavement damage. It was known that subsurface drainage method is very effective to reduce uplift seepage pressure. Suitable permeability and stiffness of drainable base is very important to have the effectiveness of subsurface drainage. In this study, optimum particle size distribution of drainable base is investigate to meet the required permeability and bearing capacity of drainable base.

The study was aimed at analyzing the relationship between the characteristics of urban green infrastructure and stormwater runoff in a small urban watershed composed of 22 drainage basins. The green areas of which soils are not sealed and allow water infiltrate, were examined for different types of green spaces. In a comparative study for drainage basins of which green spaces are 15.5% and 34.4%, respectively, runoffs were not different with the size of green space. It was attributed to that the increase of runoff by greater road area offset the advantage of greater green area. Another comparative measurement of runoff for drainage basins with similar green area size showed that runoff decreased with greater permeable area (school ground area) and smaller road area. The runoff measurements could address that runoff rates are affected not only by green area size but also by the type of green area and other land covers related to permeability and flow into drainage. It implicated that the improvement of urban green infrastructure as a functional unit for water infiltration and interception is important for stormwater runoff management.

In mountainous area, Two parallel tunnels have been usually recognized as a road tunnel which has benefits in aspects of cost and stability. However, Design and construction of 2-Arch road tunnel are growing recently due to environmental destruction, compensation of land and difficulty of route separation. As studies are mainly undergoing on only guaranteeing stability and developing a waterproofing-drainage system to avoid water leakage through comprehension for characteristics of 2-arch tunnel behaviors, there is a tendency to evaluate quantity of support by empirical method with a tunnel which has a complicated cross-section and lack of construction ability. In this study, therefore, we made a plan of tunnel cross-section which had shown good construction ability and developed the waterproofing-drainage system which is able to solve the water leakage problem fundamentally by analyzing precedented 2-arch tunnels and investigating their sites in and out of nation. We also determined fixed quantity of support by a large-scale model test and numerical analysis. We want to contribute to 2-arch tunnel design hereafter introducing design procedure and method applied here.
In addition the typhoon 'Lusa' of year 2002 has resulted 5,400 billion won of property damage and the damages for roads and railroads were approximated to be 2,860 billion won at 12,377 locations holding 53% damage of total. It was reported that the property damage due to the 2003 typhoon, 'Maemi' was 4,200 billion won. The recent typhoon, 'Aewinia', caused the 1,400 billion-won property damage including sweeping and flooding of 127 roads and 65 rivers, respectively. Therefore, this paper presented to estimate drainage size for debris flow
