  • The Weyl group of a compact connected Lie group is a reflection group. If such Lie groups are locally isomorphic, the representations of the Weyl groups are rationally equivalent. They need not however be equivalent as integral representations. Turning to the invariant theory, the rational cohomology of a classifying space is a ring of invariants, which is a polynomial ring. In the modular case, we will ask if rings of invariants are polynomial algebras, and if each of them can be realized as the mod p cohomology of a space, particularly for dihedral groups.

  • The concepts of reversible, right duo, and Armendariz rings are known to play important roles in ring theory and they are independent of one another. In this note we focus on a concept that can unify them, calling it a right Armendarizlike ring in the process. We first find a simple way to construct a right Armendarizlike ring but not Armendariz (reversible, or right duo). We show the difference between right Armendarizlike rings and strongly right McCoy rings by examining the structure of right annihilators. For a regular ring R, it is proved that R is right Armendarizlike if and only if R is strongly right McCoy if and only if R is Abelian (entailing that right Armendarizlike, Armendariz, reversible, right duo, and IFP properties are equivalent for regular rings). It is shown that a ring R is right Armendarizlike, if and only if so is the polynomial ring over R, if and only if so is the classical right quotient ring (if any). In the process necessary (counter)examples are found or constructed.

  • The steady state performance of the counterrotating floating ring journal bearings is analyzed with isothermal finite bearing theory. The effect of counterrotating speed of the sleeve on the performance of the bearing is investigated. It is shown that counterrotating floating ring journal bearings can have considerable load capacity at the same counterrotating speeds, while conventional circular journal bearings with one fluid film cannot. Investigating the relationship between the frictional torques exerted on the ring due to the inner and outer films and the rotational speed of the ring, the stability of the equilibrium state is identified and the operating characteristics of the counterrotating floating ring journal bearing according to the method of acceleration or deceleration of the rotational speeds of the journal and sleeve are clarified. It is theoretically confirmed that floating ring journal bearings can be used in counterrotating journal-bearing system and become good substitutes for rolling bearings in counterrotating systems.

  • In this paper, the equations of motion by which the natural vibration of rotating thick ring can be analyzed accurately are presented. These equations are derived from the theory of finite deformation and the principle of virtual work. The effects of variation in curvature across the ring cross-section can be considered in these equations. The ring models are called as thick ring model and thin ring model respectively as the effects of variation in curvature are considered or neglected. The radial displacement of ring which is rotating at constant angular velocity is determined by a non-linear equation derived from the principle of virtual work. The equations of the in-plane and out-of-plane vibrations at disturbed state are also formulated from the principle of virtual work. They can be expressed as the combination of the radial displacement at the steady state and the disturbed displacements about the steady state. The natural vibrations of rings with different thickness are analyzed by using the presented ring models and 3-dimensional finite element method to verify accuracy of the presented equations of motion. Its results are compared and discussed.

  • This paper relates the occidental constitutional theory to the oriental one, concluding their origins to be similar, and demonstrates a new method of constitutional diagnosis by O-Ring Measurement System Of Muscular Meridians and Laser Constitutional Diagnosis. It establishes Laser Constitutional Diagnosis(L.C.D) using laser beams according to the principles of acupuncture and Sa-Sang constitutional physiology under the effect of spatial morphological energy of geometric isomers. Finally, hypothetical theory of L.C.D. was experimented by the O-Ring Measurement Systems of Muscular Meridians(O-R MSMM). O-R MSMM has been specially devised to improve the manual O-Ring Test prevailing to distinguish energetic response by muscle tonicity. Statistically, it has been proved that the constitutional diagnosis with O-R MSMM was highly effective and objective in the clinical experiences.

  • Insertion-of-factors-property, which was introduced by Bell, has a role in the study of various sorts of zero-divisors in noncommutative rings. We in this note consider this property in the case that factors are restricted to maximal ideals. A ring is called IMIP when it satisfies such property. It is shown that the Dorroh extension of A by K is an IMIP ring if and only if A is an IFP ring without identity, where A is a nil algebra over a field K. The structure of an IMIP ring is studied in relation to various kinds of rings which have roles in noncommutative ring theory.

  • We study the structure of central elements in relation with polynomial rings and introduce quasi-commutative as a generalization of commutative rings. The Jacobson radical of the polynomial ring over a quasi-commutative ring is shown to coincide with the set of all nilpotent polynomials; and locally finite quasi-commutative rings are shown to be commutative. We also provide several sorts of examples by showing the relations between quasi-commutative rings and other ring properties which have roles in ring theory. We examine next various sorts of ring extensions of quasi-commutative rings.

  • The performance of the counterrotating floating ring journal bearing is analysed with isothermal finite bearing theory. The effect of counterrotating speed of the sleeve on the performance of the bearing is investigated. It is shown that counterrotating floating ring journal bearings properly designed can have considerable load capacity at the same counterrotating speed, while conventional circular journal bearing with one fluid film cannot. Investigating the relationship between the frictional torques on the ring due to the inner and outer films and the rotational speed of the ring, the stability of the equilibrium state is identified and the operating characteristics of the counterrotating floating ring journal bearing according to the method of acceleration or deceleration of the rotational speeds of the journal and sleeve are clarified. • The semicommutative property of rings was introduced initially by Bell, and has done important roles in noncommutative ring theory. This concept was generalized to one of nil-semicommutative by Chen. We first study some basic properties of nil-semicommutative rings. We next investigate the structure of Ore extensions when upper nilradicals are ${\sigma}$-rigid ${\delta}$-ideals, examining the nil-semicommutative ring property of Ore extensions and skew power series rings, where ${\sigma}$ is a ring endomorphism and ${\delta}$ is a ${\sigma}$-derivation.
