  • LCD-BLU (Liquid Crystal Display-Back Light Unit) of medium size is usually manufactured by forming numerous dots with $50{\sim}300\;{\mu}m$ in diameter by etching process and V-grove shape with $50\;{\mu}m$ in height by mechanical cutting process. However, the surface of the etched dots is very rough due to the characteristics of the etching process and V-cutting needs rather high cost. Instead of existing optical pattern made by etching and mechanical cutting, 3-dimensional continuous micro-lens of $200\;{\mu}m$ in diameter was applied in the present study. The continuous micro-lens pattern fabricated by modified LIGA with thermal reflow process was tested to this new optical design of LGP. The manufacturing process using LIGA-reflow is made up of three stages as follows: (i) the stage of lithography, (ii) the stage of thermal reflow process and (iii) the stage of electroplating. The continuous micro-lens patterned LGP was fabricated with injection molding and its test results showed the possibility of commercial use in the future.

  • A nanofluid is a mixture of solid nanoparticles and a common base fluid. Nanofluids have shown great potential in improving the heat transfer properties of liquids. However, previous studies on the characteristics of nanofluids did not adequately explain the enhancement of heat transfer. This study examined the distribution of particles in a fluid and compared the mechanism for the enhancement of heat transfer in a nanofluid with that in a general microparticle suspension. A theoretical model was formulated with shear-induced particle migration, viscosity-induced particle migration, particle migration by Brownian motion, as well as the inertial migration of particles. The results of the simulation showed that there was no significant particle migration, with no change in particle concentration in the radial direction. A uniform particle concentration is very important in the heat transfer of a nanofluid. As the particle concentration and effective thermal conductivity at the wall region is lower than that of the bulk fluid, due to particle migration to the center of a microfluid, the addition of microparticles in a fluid does not affect the heat transfer properties of that fluid. However, in a nanofluid, particle migration to the center occurs quite slowly, and the particle migration flux is very small. Therefore, the effective thermal conductivity at the wall region increases with increasing addition of nanoparticles. This may be one reason why a nanofluid shows a good convective heat transfer performance.

  • Recently, the cement industry has been using various wastes as raw materials and fuel for cement as an eco-friendly business. However, most of these waste resources contain large amounts of chloride and alkali, which are concentrated in manufacturing facilities and adversely affect cement production products. Accordingly, in the cement production process, the chlorine ion contained in cement is managed by introducing the Chlorine Bypass System (CBS) into the manufacturing facility and releasing the dust. However, the processing volume of CBS-Dust has been limited due to the shortage of domestic processing companies, and the cost has also been raised, requiring measures to be taken in dealing with CBS-Dust. In this study, rheological properties of CBS-Dust incorporated paste are tested. With the increase of CBS-Dust, flow was decreased due to enhanced viscosity.

  • This study was undertaken to analyze chemical composition, minerals and texture characteristics of Pongnipgangjung in various volumes of adding Pongnip powder. With increasing Pongnip powder level, moisture, total nitrogen, crude protein, crude fat and crude ash contents were significantly increased. Ca, P, K and Mg contents of Pongnip powder 1%, 3%, 4% was higher than Pongnip flour free group. According to rheometer evaluatuion, Pongnipgangjung added Pongnip powder 1% showed higher level of hardness than Pongnip powder 3%, 4% and free group. In sensory evaluation, the results of preference are in the following order Pongnipgangjung added Pongnip powder 1%, 3%, 4% and free group.

  • Silver pastes for inner conductor in the Low Temperature Co-fired Ceramics (LTCC) are composed of silver powder, binder, solvent and additives. The composition of the chemicals have influence on rheology, printability, shrinkage rate, etc. In this study, commercial Ag pastes and Ag pastes made in KETI were investigated to find the relationship between characteristics of Ag paste and solid contents. Ag pastes with 68~90 wt% Solid Contents were tested. Substrate/paste matching property and conductivity of the conductor lines showed large dependence on solid contents of Ag paste.

  • In this study, unlike high flowing concrete, using glass bubble to develop self-compacting concrete(hereinafter referred to as "SCC") with excellent filler performance by evaluating both flowability and yield stress, viscosity An experiment was conducted. Experimental results show that when 1 kg of glass bubbles are used, it is effective in stabilizing the physical properties of concrete, reducing the yield stress and viscosity.

  • In the construction of tall-building, concrete pumping influences the success of the project. In order to establish pumping technology for high speed construction of tall building, study for quantitative evaluation of flow characteristics and pumpability should be conducted. So in this study, the characteristics including the inner pipe pressure, rheological properties of concrete and mortar through the continuous pumping test were evaluated. Then we analyzed the relations between rheological properties and pumpability. In the result of test, there are high correlations between the rheological characteristics which represented by yield stress and plastic viscosity and pressure loss with pipe length. Also, we estimated pressure loss according to conditions of concrete mix and pumping through the evaluation of inner pipe friction.

  • Recently, the rheology on the fluidity of materials has been progressed remarkably. Viscosity measurement for precision-accuracy has needed very important to measure the rheological properties of materials in the field of chemistry-fiber, paint, printing-ink, plastics, rubber, foodstuff-industry, etc. And many methods of measurement have been developed lately. So in this experimental study, small capacity torque transducer with type of strain gage, different method against other existing viscometers, measured viscosity about a liquid that has flowing characteristics of newtonian liquid. Using the assumed computational equation of viscosity, it has same value of viscosity in each different radius of rotating cylinder. In the result, this equipment will be used in the viscosity measurement of a liquid taking flowing characteristics of newtonian liquid.

  • The characteristics of thermal boundary layer flow of a micropolar fluid in the vicinity of a wedge has been studied with constant surface temperature. The similarity variables found by Falkner and Skan are employed to reduce the streamwise-dependence in the coupled nonlinear boundary layer equations. Numerical solutions are presented for the heat transfer characteristics with Pr=1 using the fourth-order Runge-Kutta method and their dependence on the material parameters is discussed. The distributions of dimensionless temperature and Nusselt number across the boundary layer are compared with the corresponding flow problems for a Newtonian fluid over wedges. Numerical results show that for a constant wedge angle with a given Prandtl number, Pr=1, the effect of increasing values of K results in an increasing thermal boundary thickness for a micropolar fluid, as compared with a Newtonian fluid. For the case of the constant material parameter K, however, the heat transfer rate for a micropolar fluid is lower than that of a Newtonian fluid.
