The rubber side could be contaminated using the existing pulse echo method because the ultrasonic wave was incident on the rubber side from the interior of the steel motor case, which could lead to the critical disbond defect. To develop the test method which can be replaced the existing method, the ultrasonic wave was incident on steel face of the steel/rubber adhesive test block. Rubber resonance frequencies measured from the steel/rubber adhesive test block were in good agreement with theoretically predicted rubber resonance frequencies. This paper was described about the ultrasonic resonance method to convert the rubber resonance frequency into the rubber thickness.

A spar-type floating substructure that is being widely used for offshore wind power generation is vulnerable to resonance in the heave direction because of its small water plane area. For this reason, the stable dynamic response of this floating structure should be ensured by accurately identifying the resonance characteristics. The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of the combination resonance between the excitation frequency of a regular wave and natural frequencies of the floating substructure. First, the nonlinear equations of motion with two degrees of freedom are derived by assuming that the floating substructure is a rigid body, where the heaving motion and pitching motions are coupled. Moreover, to identify the characteristics of the combination resonance, the nonlinear term in the nonlinear equations is approximated up to the second order using the Taylor series expansion. Furthermore, the validity of the approximate model is confirmed through a comparison with the results of a numerical analysis which is made by applying the commercial software ANSYS AQWA to the full model. The result indicates that the combination resonance occurs at the frequencies of ${\omega}{\pm}{\omega}_5$ and $2{\omega}_{n5}$ between the excitation frequency (${\omega}$) of a regular wave and the natural frequency of the pitching motion (${\omega}_{n5}$) of the floating substructure.

Temperature stabilities of resonance frequencies of the substrates are very important in piezoelectric ceramics oscillators and fitters. In this study, it was investigated thermal resisting property of the length-extensional vibration mode of PZT ceramics. The mode can be utilized in fabricating ultra-small 55 kHz IF devices. We fabricated the ceramic specimens with x = 0.51, 0.52, 0.53, 0.54, and 0.55 in the Pb(Zr$\sub$x/Ti$\sub$1-x/)O$_3$ system. And their resonance frequencies were measured before 1st thermal aging, after 1st and 2nd thermal aging. In order to investigate the influence of thermal aging on thermal resisting properties, thermally aged specimens were once mote thermally aged. Before 1st thermal aging, the specimens of the compositions with morphotropic phase, x = 0.53 and rhombohedral phase, x = 0.54 have weak thermal resisting property of resonance frequency, while tetragonal phase, x = 0.51 has robust thermal resisting property of resonance frequency. 1st thermal aging improved thermal resisting property of resonance frequency in all specimens.

A new method is proposed for the isolation of resonances from scattered waves for the isolaton of resonances from scattered waves for acoustic wave resonance scattering problems. The resonance scattering function consisting purely of resonance information is defined. Acoustic wave scattering from a variety of submerged bodies is numerically analyzed. The classical resonance scattering theory (RST) and the new method compute identical magnitudes of the resonances from each partial wave, however, the phases are significantly different. The exact $\pi$-radians phase shifts through the resonance and anti-resonance frequencies show that the proposed method properly extracts the vibrational resonance information of the scatterer. Due to the differences in phases of the resonances from each partial wave, the new method and RST generate different total resonance spectra.
Formant frequencies depend on the position of tongue, the shape of lips, and larynx. In the auditory system, the external ear canal is an open-end resonator, which can modify the voice characteristics. This study investigates the effect of the real ear on formant frequencies. Fifteen subjects ranging from 22 to 30 years of age participated in the study. This study employed three corner vowels: the low central vowel /a/, the high front vowel /i/, and the high back vowel /u/. For this study, the voice of a well-educated undergraduate who majored in speech-language pathology, was recorded with a high performance condenser microphone placed in the upper pinna and in the ear canal. Paired t-test showed that there were significant difference in the formant frequencies of F1, F2, F3, and F4 between the free field and the real ear. For /a/, all formant frequencies decreased significantly in the real ear. For /i/, F2 increased and F3 and F4 decreased. For /u/, F1 and F2 increased, but F3 and F4 decreased. It seems that these voice modifications in the real ear contribute to interpreting voice quality and understanding speech, timbre, and individual characteristics, which are influenced by the shape of the outer ear and external ear canal in such a way that formant frequencies become centralized in the vowel space.

A new method is presented for the isolation of resonances from scattered waves for elastic wave resonance scattering problems. The resonance scattering function consisting purely of resonance information is defined. Elastic wave resonance scattering from a water-filled cylindrical cavity imbedded in an aluminum matrix is numerically analyzed. The classical resonance scattering theory and the new method compute different magnitudes and phases of the resonances from each partial wave, and therefore. their total resonance spectra are quite different. The exact $\pi$ - radians phase shifts through the resonance and anti-resonance frequencies show that the proposed method properly extracts the vibrational resonance information of the scatterer compared to resonance scattering theory.
When the low magnetic field is applied to the synunetry axis of the axial synunetric electric field gradient tensor of the quadrupolar nucleus in the crystal with nuclear spin, I=1, two split resonance frequencies are observed by the Zeeman effect on the nuclear quadrupole resonance. The applied magnetic field is proportional to the difference of the two resonance frequencies and this proportionality constant for the $^{14}N$ of ${(CH_{2})}_{6}N_{4}$ single crystal is 0.16 mT/kHz. The NQR spectrometer is interfaced with a personal computer from which the resonance signals are displayed and the value of magnetic field is obtained directly from the difference of the two resonance frequeocies. The lowestest measured magnetic field was 0.20 mT using this NQR technique.

The paper proposes a new sonic resonance test for a dynamic elastic constant measurement which is based on time-average electronic speckle pattern interferometry(TA-ESPI)and Euler-Bernoulli equation. Previous measurement technique of dynamic elastic constant has the limitation of application for thin film or polymer material because contact to specimen affects the result. TA-ESPI has been developed as a non-contact optical measurement technique which can visualize resonance vibration mode shapes with whole-field. The maximum vibration amplitude at each vibration mode shape is a clue to find the resonance frequencies. The dynamic elastic constant of test material can be easily estimated from Euler-Bernoulli equation using the measured resonance frequencies. The TA-ESPI dynamic elastic constant measurement technique is able to give high accurate elastic modulus of materials through a simple experiment and analysis.

Structural components subjected to high frequency vibrations, such as those used in vibrating parts of gas turbine engines, are usually required to avoid resonance frequencies. Generally, the operating frequency is designed at more than resonance frequencies. When a vibrating structure starts or stops, the structure has to pass through a resonance frequency, which results in large stress concentration. This paper presents the transient thermoelastic stress analysis of vibrating cantilever beam using infrared thermography and finite element method (FEM). In FEM, stress concentration factor at the 2nd resonance vibration mode is calculated by the mode superposition method of ANSYS. In experiment, stress distributions are investigated with infrared thermography and dynamic stress concentration factor is estimated. Experimental result is agreed with FEM result within 10.6%. The advantage of this technique is a better immunity to contact problem and geometric limitation in stress analysis of small or micro structures.
