Use of ALLGIO Probe Assays for Detection of HBV Resistance to Adefovir in Patients with Chronic Hepatitis B, Kerman, Iran

  • Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is contagious with transmissiobn vertically or horizontally by blood products and body secretions. Over 50% of Iranian carriers contracted the infection prenatally, making this the most likely route of transmission of HBV in Iran. To evaluate the resistance to adefovir (ADV) therapy in patients with chronic hepatitis B infection, a study was conducted on 70 patients (63 males and 7 females), who had received in first line lamivudine and second line adefovir. All were tested for the presence of hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg), hepatitis B envelope antigen (HBeAg), serum alanine amino transferase (ALT) level and HBV DNA load before and after treatment with ADV. In all samples, resistance to lamivudine and ADV was tested with real time PCR. Among seventy patients with chronic hepatitis B infection, 18 (25.7%) were resistant to LAM and 8 (11.4%) were resistant to ADV. Only one patient was negative for the presence of HBS-Ag (5.6%) and two were negative for HBe-Ag (11.1%). In this study we used a new method (ALLGIO probe assay) that has high sensitivity in detection of adefovir resistance mutants, which we recommend to other researchers. Mutant strains of the YMDD motif of HBV polymerase can be found in some patients under treatment with lamivudine and ADV. ADV has been demonstrated to be efficient in patients with lamivudine resistant HBV.

태양열 시스템 고장진단을 위한 유체센서와 알고리즘 (Fluid Sensor and Algorithm for Trouble Detection of Solar Thermal System)

  • Typical trouble patterns in solar thermal systems include working fluid leakage and freezing other than breakdown of pump. A fluid sensor for measuring electric resistance of fluid was developed and installed at the top of the collector piping in order to check the fault of solar system. Working fluid level in the pipe was determined by measuring electric resistance from a fluid sensor. On the base of this, it was confirmed that the fluid sensor diagnoses leakage of fluid. Electric resistance of propylene glycol aqueous solution was measured in the range of $0{\sim}70^{\circ}C$ and 0~40% of concentration. The response surface analysis was performed by using a central composite design, and the regression equation was derived from the relationship between electric resistance, temperature, and concentration. Through the experiment in a real solar system, we can estimate a concentration of working fluid when a pump is not operating and predict a possibility of freezing. Finally, an effective algorithm for trouble shooting was proposed to operate and maintain the solar system.

  • This paper describes the present state and development prospect on the protective relaying under high resistance earth faults in transmission systems. Especially it is difficult to detect the fault accompanied with high resistance contary to low resistance. In the complicated power system if the detection is failed, power failure will be occured in large area. New technology with respect to such a problem must be developed. This paper introduces research and development trend in home and abroad.

  • 최근 4차 산업혁명 시대가 다가오면서 휴대성을 강조한 IoT 기기가 늘고 있다. 동시에 배터리 사용량도 급증하고 있다. 배터리 사용량이 증가하면서 배터리 안전과 관련된 이슈는 피할 수 없는 문제가 되었고, 많은 연구가 이뤄졌다. 본 논문은 다양한 배터리 문제 중 팽창으로 인한 폭발 문제를 다루고 있으며, 저항 변화를 파악하여 배터리 팽창을 감지하는 시스템의 연구 및 개발을 포함하고 있다. 이번 연구의 핵심기술은 배터리가 팽창할 때 발생하는 부피 변화를 배터리에 그려진 전선의 저항 변화를 이용해 배터리 폭발을 방지하는 시스템을 개발하는 것이다. 또한 패턴분석을 통해 어떤 형태로 전선을 구성하여야 저항 변화가 많이 일어나는지 분석하였다.

Duplex dPCR System for Rapid Identification of Gram-Negative Pathogens in the Blood of Patients with Bloodstream Infection: A Culture-Independent Approach

  • Early and accurate detection of pathogens is important to improve clinical outcomes of bloodstream infections (BSI), especially in the case of drug-resistant pathogens. In this study, we aimed to develop a culture-independent digital PCR (dPCR) system for multiplex detection of major sepsis-causing gram-negative pathogens and antimicrobial resistance genes using plasma DNA from BSI patients. Our duplex dPCR system successfully detected nine targets (five bacteria-specific targets and four antimicrobial resistance genes) through five reactions within 3 hours. The minimum detection limit was 50 ag of bacterial DNA, suggesting that 1 CFU/ml of bacteria in the blood can be detected. To validate the clinical applicability, cell-free DNA samples from febrile patients were tested with our system and confirmed high consistency with conventional blood culture. This system can support early identification of some drug-resistant gram-negative pathogens, which can help improving treatment outcomes of BSI.

  • Because of accident or leak of electricity, high voltage electricity can be conducted to vehicle chassis and damage human. Therefore the unit for detecting ground fault is necessary to minimize loss of life or equipment damage. Isolation resistance must be monitored for detecting ground fault. GFD(Ground Fault Detection) unit continually generate the pulse voltage between high voltage network and chassis. This will be sensing the returned current, calculate the isolation resistance and make decision the ground fault. This paper describes the method detecting ground fault.

  • A total of 108 strains of MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) clinical isolates was collected from $121^{st}$ general hospital (U.S. military hospital), Korean healthcare facility from January to March in 2005 and Wonju Christian hospital in 1999. Antimicrobial susceptibility test by Vitek System and MIC test using oxacillin and cephalothin stripes by E-test were executed. PCR based detection of mecA gene was performed on the all of MRSA clinical isolates, too. MRSA clinical isolates were characterized with antimicrobial resistance patterns, PCR based detection of mecA gene and validation of the multiplex PCR strategy of SCCmec among clinical isolates.

시리얼 통신 기반 파라미터 추정에 의한 BLDC모터의 고장검출 (Fault Detection of BLDC Motor Using Serial Communication Based Parameter Estimation)

  • 본 논문에서는 데이터 수집 보드로부터 호스트 컴퓨터로 시리얼 통신 채널을 통하여 전송된 BLDC(Brushless DC)모터의 입력과 출력 정보를 이용하여 모터의 저항값을 추정함으로써 고장을 검출하는 고장검출 시스템을 제안하였다. 프레임 크기가 고정된 프로토콜을 설계하고, 주기적으로 통신이 이루어지도록 하여 시리얼 통신 채널에서 발생되는 대역폭 제한으로 인한 시간지연문제를 해결하였으며, 저항값을 추정하기 위하여 간략화된 BLDC모터 모델과 순환형 최소자승법 알고리즘을 사용하였다. 제안된 고장 검출 방법은 실험을 통하여 성능을 확인하였다.

전류신호를 이용한 유도전동기의 회전자봉 결함검출에 관한 연구 (A Study on Detection of Broken Rotor Bars in Induction Motors Using Current Signature Analysis)

  • The unexpected failure of the induction motor makes the downtime of production, and the cost of the process cessation enormous. To reduce the downtime and increase the reliability of the motor, the vibration measurements for the fault detection have been used previously. Recently motor current signature analysis(MCSA) has been adapted for the fault detection and diagnosis of the motors. MCSA provides a powerful analysis tool for detecting the presence of mechanical and electrical faults in both the motor and driven equipment. In this paper, the fault severity of the rotor bar has been derived in terms of the resistance change which is calculated from the equivalent circuit model. Results show that the fault of the rotor can be easily detected and the measured value of the resistance change is verified by the detected fault from on-site tests using MCSA for the induction motors in an iron foundry.
