Resilience Allocation for Resilient Engineered System Design (복원가능 시스템 설계를 위한 복원도 할당)

  • Most engineered systems are designed with high levels of system redundancies to satisfy required reliability requirements under adverse events, resulting in high systems' LCCs (Life-Cycle Costs). Recent years have seen a surge of interest and tremendous advance in PHM (Prognostics and Health Management) methods that detect, diagnose, and predict the effects of adverse events. The PHM methods enable proactive maintenance decisions, giving rise to adaptive reliability. In this paper, we present a RAP (Resilience Allocation Problem) whose goal is to allocate reliability and PHM efficiency to components in an engineering context. The optimally allocated reliability and PHM efficiency levels serve as the design specifications for the system RBDO (Reliability-Based Design Optimization) and the system PHM design, which can be used to derive the detailed design of components and PHM units. The RAP is demonstrated using a simplified aircraft control actuator design problem resulting in a highly resilient actuator with optimally allocated reliability, PHM efficiency and redundancy for the given parameter settings.

Parallel Reservoir Analysis of Drought Period by Water Supply Allocation Method (공급량 배분기법을 이용한 갈수기 병렬저수지 해석)

  • In this study, an optimization technique was developed from the application of allocation rule. The results obtained from the water supply analysis and reliability indices analysis of Andong dam and Imha dam which are consist of parallel reservoir system are summarized as the followings; Allocation rule(C) is effective technique at the parallel reservoir system because results of the water supply analysis, storage analysis and reliability indices analysis is calculated reasonable results. Also, reliability indices analysis results are not sufficient occurrence based reliability or quantity based reliability. Thus reliability indices analysis are need as occurrence based reliability, quantity based reliability vulnerability, resilience, average water supply deficits and average storage. And water supply condition is better varying water supply condition than constant water supply condition.

  • The article identifies and theoretically substantiates the trends of national resilience in the context of establishing the security of the country and its civilizational subjectivity. The strategy of development of the pedagogical university in the conditions of European integration into the European educational and scientific space based on certain characterological features of the personality of the volunteer in the context of allocation of personal resilience is developed. The analysis of both external and internal challenges and threats to the civilization of the country needs to be understood in the context of economic, socio-political, legal, military-political, spiritual-cultural, educational-scientific and network-information resilience. The concepts of "national resilience" and "national security" are quite close - at first glance, even identical. However, a deeper understanding clarifies the differences: national security is a state of protection of the country identity and its very existence, the realization of its national interests. In turn, resilience is a fairly effective strategy and a fundamental guarantee of national security. At the same time, it is extremely important to understand that both national security as a state and national resilience as a strategy are only means of achieving and developing a strong and humanistic civilizational subjectivity of the country. After all, such subjectivity opens for citizens the opportunity for development, dignified self-realization and a proper life. The restructuring of the volunteer's motivational sphere is due to the dominance of such leading motives, which are focused mainly on maintaining and restoring health, which leads to distorted meaningful life goals: isolation, alienation, passivity, inertia, reduced activity, limited communication, etc. The characteristics of relatively stable human behavior include several primary and secondary properties. Directly to the personal traits of resilience should be included methodological competencies, which include methodological knowledge, skills and abilities (ability to define ultimate and intermediate goals, plan, conduct and analyze knowledge, establish and implement interdisciplinary links with disciplines of medical-psychological-pedagogical cycles, etc.). All these competencies form the professional resilience of the volunteer.

Estimation of Weights in Water Management Resilience Index Using Principal Component Analysis(PCA) (주성분 분석(PCA)을 이용한 물관리 탄력성 지수의 가중치 산정)

  • 다양한 평가지표가 반영된 복합 지수(Composite Index)는 물관리 정책의 우선순위 결정 및 정책성과의 모니터링에 유용한 도구로 사용되고 있다. 각 지표별 중요도를 나타내는 가중치는 최종 지수의 산정에 영향을 미칠 수 있으며, 그 결정방법도 Data Envelopment Analysis(DEA), Benefit of doubt Approach(BOD), Unobserved Component Model(UCM), Budget Allocation Process(BAP), Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP), Conjoint Analysis(CA) 등 다양하다. 본 연구에서는 여러 가지 가중치 결정방법 중 통계적 방법인 주성분 분석(Principal Component Analysis, PCA)을 사용하여 Park et al.(2016)이 제시한 물관리 탄력성 지수(Water Management Resilience Index, WMRI)에 대한 가중치를 산정하여 동일 가중치를 적용한 기존 결과와 비교하였다. 물관리 탄력성 지수는 자연조건상 물관리 취약성(Vulnerability), 기존 수자원 인프라의 견고성(Robustness), 물위기 적응전략의 다양성(Redundancy)의 3가지 부지수(sub-index)는 각각 13개, 11개, 7개의 지표(Indicator)로 구성되어 있으며, 117개 중권역을 다목적댐 하류 본류유역(범주 1), 용수공급 및 유량조절이 불가능한 지류(범주 2)와 가능한 지류(범주 3)로 분류하여 적용되었다. 각 부지수별로 추출된 3개, 5개, 3개의 주성분이 전체 자료의 76.4%, 71.2%, 63.2%를 설명하는 것으로 분석되었으며 부지수별 주성분의 고유벡터(Eigenvector)와 고유값(Eigenvalue)를 계산하고 각 지표의 가중치를 산정하였다. 주성분 분석에 의한 가중치와 동일 가중치를 적용하였을 경우와 비교해보면 취약성 부지수 1.9%, 견고성 부지수 1.9%, 다양성 부지수 2.1%의 차이가 나타나며 물관리 탄력성 지수는 0.4%의 차이를 보임에 따라 Park et al.이 제시한 연구결과의 적정성을 확인할 수 있었다. 주성분 분석은 객관적인 가중치 설정을 위한 통계적 접근방법의 하나로써 다양한 물관리 정책지수 산정시 활용될 수 있을 것이며, 향후 다른 가중치 산정방법을 적용함으로써 각 방법에 따른 지수 결과의 민감도 및 장단점을 분석할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

Analysis of Parallel Reservoir Water Supply Capacity According to Water Supply Changes (용수공급 변화에 따른 병렬저수지 용수공급 능력 해석)

  • In this study, the water supply reliability of the andong and Imha dam was analyzed using inflow data for 360 months from 1993 to 2022 through allocation model. First, in the analysis results of additional water supply to Deagu city, the water supply reliability of Rule (B) was the highest at 86% for andong dam, 84% for imha dam, and 80% for the control point. However, when the planned supply was supplied, the analysis results showed 94%, 93%, and 90%. Next, in the quantitative reliability analysis results, when considering additional water supply to Deagu city, Rule (A), Rule (B), and Rule (C) were analyzed as 88%, 88%, and 88%, respectively, based on the control point. When supplying the planned water supply, the quantitative reliability analysis results were 95% equally based on Rule (A), Rule (B), and Rule (C). Because of evaluating the two reliability methods, the number of shortages increases significantly when additional water is supplied to Daegu City, but the shortage is generally 5-7%, resulting in a relatively small shortage compared with the increase in the number of shortages. In the case of resilience and vulnerability, additional water supply to Daegu City takes more than two months to restore than the existing planned water supply, and the average shortage was calculated to be smaller than that of supplying the planned water. According to the results of the analysis, Andong dam has an average water storage of 130x106 m2 and Imha dam has 50x106 m2. In this deficient water supply can be compensated by water from the Nakdong river.

Zero-Knowledge Realization of Software-Defined Gateway in Fog Computing

  • Driven by security and real-time demands of Internet of Things (IoT), the timing of fog computing and edge computing have gradually come into place. Gateways bear more nearby computing, storage, analysis and as an intelligent broker of the whole computing lifecycle in between local devices and the remote cloud. In fog computing, the edge broker requires X-aware capabilities that combines software programmability, stream processing, hardware optimization and various connectivity to deal with such as security, data abstraction, network latency, service classification and workload allocation strategy. The prosperous of Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) pushes the possibility of gateway capabilities further landed. In this paper, we propose a software-defined gateway (SDG) scheme for fog computing paradigm termed as Fog Computing Zero-Knowledge Gateway that strengthens data protection and resilience merits designed for industrial internet of things or highly privacy concerned hybrid cloud scenarios. It is a proxy for fog nodes and able to integrate with existing commodity gateways. The contribution is that it converts Privacy-Enhancing Technologies rules into provable statements without knowing original sensitive data and guarantees privacy rules applied to the sensitive data before being propagated while preventing potential leakage threats. Some logical functions can be offloaded to any programmable micro-controller embedded to achieve higher computing efficiency.

Analysis of the Degraded Performance and Restoration Plan of Lfieline Systems Considering Interdependency in the Post-disaster (라이프라인 시스템 상호의존성을 고려한 기능 저하 평가 및 복구계획 분석)

  • Lifeline service disruptions can have significant impacts on local community in the aftermath natural disaster. Although effective restoration strategies with accurate damage assessment are required, the internal complexity of lifeline networks and their interdependency makes the understanding restoration process of lifeline systems a difficult issue. Additionally, the limitations of previous research relating the influence assessment of lifeline to community disaster resilience, highlight the need for understanding of lifeline networks. Therefore, this paper presents an agent-based model to discover emergent behavior and evaluate the interdependency and resiliency in lifeline networks. This research will provide basic guideline of resource allocation in order to mitigate cascading failures of the post disaster restoration processes.

A stratified random sampling design for paddy fields: Optimized stratification and sample allocation for effective spatial modeling and mapping of the impact of climate changes on agricultural system in Korea (농지 공간격자 자료의 층화랜덤샘플링: 농업시스템 기후변화 영향 공간모델링을 위한 국내 농지 최적 층화 및 샘플 수 최적화 연구)

  • Spatial sampling design plays an important role in GIS-based modeling studies because it increases modeling efficiency while reducing the cost of sampling. In the field of agricultural systems, research demand for high-resolution spatial databased modeling to predict and evaluate climate change impacts is growing rapidly. Accordingly, the need and importance of spatial sampling design are increasing. The purpose of this study was to design spatial sampling of paddy fields (11,386 grids with 1 km spatial resolution) in Korea for use in agricultural spatial modeling. A stratified random sampling design was developed and applied in 2030s, 2050s, and 2080s under two RCP scenarios of 4.5 and 8.5. Twenty-five weather and four soil characteristics were used as stratification variables. Stratification and sample allocation were optimized to ensure minimum sample size under given precision constraints for 16 target variables such as crop yield, greenhouse gas emission, and pest distribution. Precision and accuracy of the sampling were evaluated through sampling simulations based on coefficient of variation (CV) and relative bias, respectively. As a result, the paddy field could be optimized in the range of 5 to 21 strata and 46 to 69 samples. Evaluation results showed that target variables were within precision constraints (CV<0.05 except for crop yield) with low bias values (below 3%). These results can contribute to reducing sampling cost and computation time while having high predictive power. It is expected to be widely used as a representative sample grid in various agriculture spatial modeling studies.
