  • A telescopic handless is a kind of construction machinery for loading, carrying and unloading various cargos. A residual vibration of the boom, however, is often caused in carrying cargos to high workplace, especially in small motion and unloading operations, even when an expert of this machine handless the boom. To solve this vibrational problem, we applied TDC and newly proposed Commandless IST to the telescopic handler, and confirmed their effectiveness through experiments. These promising results show that the proposed control schemes can improve productivity, safety and ride comfort of the telescopic handler.

  • This paper proposes a MAC protocol for real-time VBR (rt-VBR) services in wireless ATM networks. The proposed protocol is characterized by a contention-based mechanism of the reservation request, a contention-free polling scheme for transferring the dynamic parameters, and a priority scheme of the slot allocation. The design objective of the proposed protocol is to guarantee the real-time constraint of rt-VBR traffic. The scheduling algorithm uses a priority scheme based on the maximum cell transfer delay parameter. The wireless terminal establishes an rt-VBR connection to the base station with a contention-based scheme. The base station scheduler allocates a dynamic parameter minislot to the wireless terminal for transferring the residual lifetime and the number of requesting slots as the dynamic parameters. Based on the received dynamic parameters, the scheduler allocates the uplink slots to the wireless terminal with the most stringent delay requirement. The simulation results show that the proposed protocol can guarantee the delay constraint of rt-VBR services along with its cell loss rate significantly reduced.

  • A nonlinear adaptive speed observer is designed for the sensorless control of induction motors. In order to design the speed observer, the measurements of the stator currents and the estimates of the rotor fluxes are used. The sliding mode cascade observer is designed to estimate the time derivatives of the stator currents. The open-loop observer is designed to estimate the rotor fluxes and its time derivatives using the stator current derivatives. The adaptive observer is also designed to estimate the rotor resistance. Sequentially, the rotor speed is calculated using these estimated values. It is shown that the estimation errors of the corresponding states and the parameters converge to the specified residual set. It is also shown that the speed controller using these estimates is performed well. The simulation examples are represented to investigate the validity of the proposed observers for the sensorless control of induction motors.

  • In general, structures in service gradually lose original performance according to time due to initial defects in design and construction, or exposure to unfavorable external conditions such as repeated loading or deteriorating environment, and in extreme cases, may collapse in large disaster. Therefore, in order to maintain the serviceability of structures at optimal level, advanced structure measuring system which can inform optimal time point and method of maintenance is required in addition to accurate prediction of residual life the structure by periodic inspection. To guarantee the safety level of bridge structure and to prevent from disaster, the integration of safety network for bridge structures are needed. Therefore in this study, to enhance the effectiveness of safety network for bridge, the connection methodologies between safety network and pre-installed bridge monitoring system are investigated.

  • Cds films were deposited on glass substrates using rf magnetron sputtering method followed by rapid thermal annealing(RTA). Effects of annealing temperature on surface characteristic, structural, electrical and optical property of CdS films were investigated at different temperatures ranging from 250 to $550^{\circ}C$ with various holding time. The film annealed at $450^{\circ}C$ with less than 1 min holding time is attributed to the improved crystalline quality of CdS film due to the effective relaxation of residual compressive stress and achieving maximum grain size. The results show that RTA treatments under optimal annealing condition can provide significant improvements in the properties of CdS films.

  • A numerical method is developed for computing the free surface flows around a transom stern of a ship at a high Froude number. At high speed, the flow may be detached from the flat transom stern. In the limit of the high Froude number, the problem becomes a planning problem. In the present study, we make the finite-element computations for a transom stern flows around a wedge-shaped floating ship. The numerical method is based on the Hamilton's principle. The problem is formulated as an initial value problem with nonlinear free surface conditions. In the numerical procedures, the domain was discretized into a set of finite elements and the numerical quadrature was used for the functional equation. The time integrations of the nonlinear free surface condition are made iteratively at each time step. A set of large algebraic equations is solved by GMRES(Generalized Minimal RESidual, Saad and Schultz 1986) method which is proven very efficient. The computed results are compared with previous numerical results obtained by others.

  • Inconel 600 alloy, Ni base alloy, is widely used for steam generator tubings where sensitization occurs at grain boundaries and sensitization will induce tubing failures. This alloy has usually paramagnetic property, however, it transforms into ferromagnetic property along grain boundaries when sensitization occurs: this means NDE using magnetism for sensitization is possible. Therefore, in this study, Inconel 600 alloys were heat treated at 873 K from 0 to 400 hours so as to generate sensitization and their magnetic properties were investigated in detail. The saturation and the residual magnetization increase with increasing heat treatment time and take a maximum. On the other hand, the coercive force decreases with the increase in time of heat treatment. We confirmed that characteristics at only grain boundaries change into ferromagnetic phase by a MFM observation. As a trial for industrial application, heat treated Inconel 600 alloy was scanned by a magnetic field sensor, and the variations in magnetization were obtained nondestructively. The results indicate a feasibility of magnetic NDE for sensitization of Inconel 600 alloy.

  • Due to the situation of the widespread of the coronavirus, which causes the problem of lack of face image data occluded by masks at recent time, in order to solve the related problems, this paper proposes a method to generate face images with masks using a combination of generative adversarial networks and spatial transformation networks based on CNN model. The system we proposed in this paper is based on the GAN, combined with multi-scale convolution kernels to extract features at different details of the human face images, and used Wasserstein divergence as the measure of the distance between real samples and synthetic samples in order to optimize Generator performance. Experiments show that the proposed method can effectively put masks on face images with high efficiency and fast reaction time and the synthesized human face images are pretty natural and real.

  • The influence of the contact amount of carbon dioxide per unit mass of dyestuff(${\alpha}$) on dyeing uniformity in supercritical fluid dyeing is analyzed in this study. The experiments using a 5L class Pilot Scale dyeing machine is carried out for this study purpose. For a fixed temperature and pressure, the amount of sample and the dyeing leveling time were considered as process variables. The results show that the increase in the amount of the sample causes a higher color difference than the reference sample, and it also increases the amount of residual dye. On the other hand, the color difference tended to decrease with the increase in dyeing time. Based on these results, the correlation between ${\alpha}$ value and dyeing uniformity in supercritical fluid dyeing is obtained.
