This paper related with the performance of SE-MMA (Signed-Error MMA) that is the reduction of computational operation number in algorithm than MMA blind eualization algorithm which are possible to elimination of intersymbol interferance in the band limited and time dispersive nonlinear communication channel. In MMA algorithm which are possible to reduction of amplitude and phase rotation by intersymbol interference that is occurred in channel without using the training sequence, it uses the error signal that is the difference of the equalizer output and constant modulus, the statisticlly characteristic of transmitted signal. But in SE-MMA, it uses the polarity of the error signal, then it is possible to reduce the updating the tap coefficient and to simplify the H/W implementation. The computer simulation were performed in order to compare the performance of SE-MMA and conventional MMA algorithm. For this, the recovered signal constellation that is the output of the equalizer, the convergence performance by MSE, MD (maximum distortion) and residual isi characteristic learning curve, SER were used. As a result of simulation, the SE-MMA has more fast convergence speed than the MMA. But in the other index after reaching the seady state, it gives more worst performance values in the used index.

The purpose of this study was to compare the stress distributions of NiTi rotary instruments based on their cross-sectional geometries of triangular shape-based cross-sectional design, S-shaped cross-sectional design and modified rectangular shape-based one using 3D FE models. NiTi rotary files of S-shaped and modified rectangular design of cross-section such as Mtwo or NRT showed larger stress change while file rotation during simulated shaping. The stress of files with rectangular cross-section design such as Mtwo, NRT was distributed as an intermittent pattern along the long axis of file. On the other hand, the stress of files with triangular cross-section design was distributed continuously. When the residual stresses which could increase the risk of file fatigue fracture were analyzed after their withdrawal. the NRT and Mtwo model also presented higher residual stresses. From this result, it can be inferred that S-shaped and modified rectangular shape-based files were more susceptible to file fracture than the files having triangular shape-based one.

Purpose : To assess the relationship between the direction of the indicating rod of the radiographic stent for ideal prosthetic design and the actual possible path of implant fixture placement when residual ridge resorption is considered. Materials and Methods: The study materials consisted of 326 implant sites (male 214 cases and female 112 cases) from a total of 106 patients (male 65 patients and female 41 patients) who desired implant prostheses. Computed tomography of patients were taken and reformatted using ToothPix/sup (R)/ software. Bony defects, bony sclerosis, the change of the direction of indicating rod, and root proximity of the adjacent teeth were examined on the CT-derived images. Results: The rate of the irregular crestal cortex was relatively high on premolar and molar area of maxilla. Mandibular molar area showed relatively high rate of focal sclerosis on the area of implant fixture insertion. The position of the indicating rods were relatively acceptable on the molar areas of both jaws. However, the position of the indicating rods should be shifted to buccal side with lingual rotation of the apical end on maxillary anterior teeth and premolar area. Conclusion: Clinically determined rod direction and position of the indicating rod for implant placement was not always acceptable for insertion according to the reformatted CT images. The pre-operative treatment plan for implant should be determined carefully, considering the state of the alveolar bone using the reformatted CT images.
Objective: Orthodontic mini-implants (OMI) generate various horizontal and vertical force vectors and moments according to their insertion positions. This study aimed to help select ideal biomechanics during maxillary incisor retraction by varying the length in the anterior retraction hook (ARH) and OMI position. Methods: Two extraction models were constructed to analyze the three-dimentional finite element: a first premolar extraction model (Model 1, M1) and a residual 1-mm space post-extraction model (Model 2, M2). The OMI position was set at a height of 8 mm from the arch wire between the second maxillary premolar and the first molar (low OMI traction) or at a 12-mm height in the mesial second maxillary premolar (high OMI traction). Retraction force vectors of 200 g from the ARH (-1, +1, +3, and +6 mm) at low or high OMI traction were resolved into X-, Y-, and Z-axis components. Results: In M1 (low and high OMI traction) and M2 (low OMI traction), the maxillary incisor tip was extruded, but the apex was intruded, and the occlusal plane was rotated clockwise. Significant intrusion and counter-clockwise rotation in the occlusal plane were observed under high OMI traction and -1 mm ARH in M2. Conclusions: This study observed orthodontic tooth movement according to the OMI position and ARH height, and M2 under high OMI traction with short ARH showed retraction with maxillary incisor intrusion.

Development of vision system as a nondestructive evaluation system can be very useful in screening the defective mechanical parts before they are assembled into the final product. Since the tens of thousands of the mechanical parts are used in an automobile carefully inspecting the quality of the mechanical parts is very important to maximize the performance of the automobile. To sort out the defective mechanical parts before they are assembled, auto parts fabrication companies employ various inspection systems. Nondestructive evaluation systems are getting rapidly popular among various inspection systems. In this study, we have developed a vision system to inspect the inside of the brake caliper, a part that is used to compose a brake which is the most important to the safety of the drivers and the passengers. In a brake caliper, a piston is pushed against the brake disk by oil pressure, causing a friction to damp the rotation of the wheel. Inside the caliper, a groove is positioned to adopt an oil seal to prevent the oil leaks. Inspecting the groove with our vision system, we could examine the existence of the contaminants which are normally the residual tiny pieces from the machining process. We used a high resolution GigE camera, 360 degree lens to look in the inside view of the caliper at once, and a special illumination system in this vision system. We used the edge detection technique to successfully detect the contaminants which were in the form of small metal chips. Labview graphical program was used to process the digital data from the camera and to display the vision and the statistics of the contaminants. We were very successful in detecting the contaminants from the various size calipers. We think we are ready to employ this vision system to the caliper production factories.
A refined method of analysis which is called the Advanced Analysis has been introduced This method is to consider the intial member imperfection residual stress and second-order effects so as to estimate the overall behavior of steel frame accurately Based on the refined plastic hinge method that is more suitable and practical in design practice. the program RPH-2DF is coded using the log model which represents the moment-rotation relationship of connection. The validity of this program is examined by frame test data. Finally to investigate the difference between behaviors of rigid and semi-rigid frame. the 10-story frame analysis results designed by MIDAS-GEN v4.2.2 are compared with the results by RPH-2DF.

In recent years, thick ta-C coating has attracted considerable interest owing to its existing and potential commercial importance in applications such as automobile accessories, drills, and gears. The thickness of the ta-C coating is an important parameter in these applications. However, the biggest problems are achieving efficient coating and uniformity over a large area with high-speed deposition. Feasibility is confirmed for the ta-C coating thickness of up to 9.0 µm (coating speed: 3.0 µm/h, fixed substrate) using a single FCVA cathode. The thickness was determined using multiple coating cycles that were controlled using substrate temperature and residual stresses. In the present research, we have designed a coating system using FCVA plasma and produced enhanced thick ta-C coating. The system uses a specialized magnetic field configuration with stabilized DC arc plasma discharge during deposition. To achieve quality that is acceptable for use in automobile accessories, the magnetic field, T-type filters, and 10 pieces of a multi-cathode are used to demonstrate the deposition of the thick ta-C coating. The results of coating performance indicate that uniformity is ±7.6 , deposited area is 400 mm, and the thickness of the ta-C coating is up to 5.0 µm (coating speed: 0.3 µm/h, revolution and rotation). The hardness of the coating ranges from 30 to 59 GPa, and the adhesion strength level (HF1) ranges from 20 to 60 N, depending on the ta-C coating.

Removable partial denture for oral function recovery of partial edentulous patients is a complicated treatment because the dentist should consider both hard tissue and soft tissue. Removable partial denture produced without consideration of precise design for each component and rotation of denture may cause fracture, deformation or loss of abutment teeth. In case of failure to achieve a proper denture, the reason of failure should be analyzed and the result must be applied to later RPD cases. Finding the solutions through the failed denture cases will help patients use their dentures more comfortably and keep their sound residual teeth and tissue longer.

With the industrial acceleration in a lot of countries of the world, the demand for anti-corrosion and anti-abrasion material increases continuously. Particularly, stainless steel with the fine surface and excellent corrosion resistance is widely used in various industrial fields including ship, offshore structures tidal power plant, and etc. In marine environment, however, it is easy to generate by the corrosion damage by $Cl^-$ ion and cavitation damage due to high rotation speed on stainless steel. Therefore, in this research, the cavitation erosion-corrosion test (Hybrid test) was performed for 304 stainless steel specimen used in the high flow rate seawater environment. And the cavitation damage behavior in the corrosive environment was analyzed overall. The high hardness was shown due to the formation of compressive residual stress by the water cavitation peening effect in cavitation condition. However, high current density in the potentiodynamic polarization experiment presented with the breakdown of the passive film caused by physical impact. Therefore, both electrochemical characteristics and mechanical properties must be taken into account to improve the cavitation resistance in seawater.

A 25-year-old woman presented to the emergency room with a painful and swollen right forearm. She had just sustained an injury from an accident during which her arm was tightly wound by a rope as she was lowering a net from a fishing boat. Before being released, her arm was rigidly trapped in the rope for approximately ten minutes. Radiographs revealed anterior dislocation of the radial head that was accompanied by plastic deformation of the proximal ulna, manifested as a reversal of the proximal dorsal angulation of the ulna (PUDA); suggested a Monteggia equivalent fracture. With the patient under general anesthesia, we reduced the radial head by posterior compression at $90^{\circ}$ of elbow flexion and at neutral rotation of the forearm. However, the reduction was easily lost and the elbow re-dislocated with even slight supination or extension of the arm. After the osteotomy of the ulnar deformity to restore the PUDA to normal, the reduction remained stable even with manipulation of the arm. We found that the patient could exercise a full range of motion without pain at the 3-month follow-up, and neither residual instability nor degenerative changes were observed at the final 3-year follow-up.
