  • This study investigates the mechanical properties of the high strength concrete in the region of 80MPa corresponding to the temperature and fiber content change. For the properties of the fresh, slump flow is $600{\pm}100mm$, and air content is $3.0{\pm}1.0%$. They satisfy each targets, and there was no difference for the each fiber types. As the propertied of the hardened concrete, the compressive strength at 28 days is indicated over 80MPa, and they are similar to the change of the fiber types. The residual compressive strength in response to the temperature change of the NY, PP, and NY+PP fiber at $200^{\circ}C$ are increased by 115, 114, and 110% on the standard condition, and it is suddenly decreased at $400^{\circ}C$. They are decreased by 33, 19, and 16% on the standard condition at $800^{\circ}C$.

  • There are being a lot of studies for achievement of high speed Dehydration, high-strength and Lightweight of washing machine in the latest washing machine business. It is essential that strength of mechanical press-Joining (MPJ) for spin drum is improved to attain that target. MPJ of spin drum is composed of seaming and caulking process. Because Seaming process of MPJ has various design factors such as thickness, bending radius, seaming width, caulking press width and the dynamic factor such as multistage plastic working, elastic recovery, residual stress, the optimum conditions can't be easily determined. Using a design of experiment (DOE) based on the FEM (Finite Element Method), which has several advantages such as less computing, high accuracy performance and usefulness, this study was performed investigating the interaction effect between the various design factor as well as the main effect of the each design factor during drum MPJ and proposed optimum condition using center composition method among response surface derived from regression equation of simulation-based DOE.

  • A complete solution for a soluble-boron-free (SBF) small modular reactor (SMR) is pursued with a new burnable absorber concept, namely centrally-shielded burnable absorber (CSBA). Neutronic flexibility of the CSBA design has been discussed with fuel assembly (FA) analyses. Major design parameters and goals of the SBF SMR are discussed in view of the reactor core design and three CSBA designs are introduced to achieve both a very low burnup reactivity swing (BRS) and minimal residual reactivity of the CSBA. It is demonstrated that the core achieves a long cycle length (~37 months) and high burnup (~30 GWd/tU), while the BRS is only about 1100 pcm and the radial power distribution is rather flat. This research also introduces a supplementary reactivity control mechanism using stainless steel as mechanical shim (MS) rod to obtain the criticality during normal operation. A further analysis is performed to investigate the local power peaking of the CSBA-loaded FA at MS-rodded condition. Moreover, a simple $B_4C$-based control rod arrangement is proposed to assure a sufficient shutdown margin even at the cold-zero-power condition. All calculations in this neutronic-thermal hydraulic coupled investigation of the 3D SBF SMR core are completed by a two-step Monte Carlo-diffusion hybrid methodology.

  • Lithium-ion batteries are the heart of energy-storing devices and electric vehicles. Owing to their superior qualities, such as high capacity and energy efficiency, they have become quite popular, resulting in an increased demand for failure/damage prevention and useable life maximization. To prevent failure in Lithium-ion batteries, improve their reliability, and ensure productivity, prognosticative measures such as condition monitoring through sensors, condition assessment for failure detection, and remaining useful life prediction through data-driven prognostics and health management approaches have become important topics for research. In this study, the residual useful life of Lithium-ion batteries was predicted using two efficient artificial recurrent neural networks-ong short-term memory (LSTM) and gated recurrent unit (GRU). The proposed approaches were compared for prognostics accuracy and cost-efficiency. It was determined that LSTM showed slightly higher accuracy, whereas GRUs have a computational advantage.

  • The present work addresses the surface integrity and chip morphology in finish hard turning of AISI D3 steel under nanofluid assisted minimum quantity lubrication (NFMQL) condition. The surface integrity aspects include microhardness, residual stress, white layer formation, machined surface morphology, and surface roughness. This experimental investigation aims to explore the feasibility of low-cost multilayer (TiCN/Al2O3/TiN) coated carbide tool in hard machining applications and to assess the propitious role of minimum quantity lubrication using graphene nanoparticles enriched eco-friendly radiator coolant based nano-cutting fluid for machinability improvement of hardened steel. Combined approach of central composite design (CCD) - analysis of variance (ANOVA), desirability function analysis, and response surface methodology (RSM) have been subsequently employed for experimental investigation, predictive modelling and optimization of surface roughness. With a motivational philosophy of "Go Green-Think Green-Act Green", the work also deals with economic analysis, and sustainability assessment under environmental-friendly NFMQL condition. Results showed that machining with nanofluid-MQL provided an effective cooling-lubrication strategy, safer and cleaner production, environmental friendliness and assisted to improve sustainability.

  • This paper presents a design strategy of SPOKE type BLDC motors considering an irreversible demagnetization of a permanent magnet (PM). So the irreversible demagnetization characteristic of the motor is analyzed by rotor structure. The instantaneous currents in either starting or lock rotor condition, which are calculated from the current dynamic analysis, are applied to the analysis of the irreversible demagnetization field by FEM. In irreversible demagnetization analysis by FEM, the variation of residual flux density in PM is analyzed using the non-linearity of magnetic core on B-H plan. The analysis results are compared to several rotor structures and used for optimize the rotor structure.

  • To combine the mechanical advantages of ceramics with those of metals, one often uses both materials within one composite component. But, as known, they have different material properties and fracture behaviors. In this study, a four-point bending test is carried out on $Si_3N_4$ joined to ANSI 304L stainless steel with a Ti-Ag-Cu filler and a Cu interlayer at room temperature to evaluate their longitudinal strain behaviors. And, to detect localized strain, a couple of strain gages are pasted near the joint interfaces of the ceramic and metal sides. The normal strain rates are varied from $3.33{\times}10^5$ to $3.33{\times}10^{-1}s^{-1}$ Within this range, the experimental results showed that the four-point bending strength and the deflection of the interlayer increased with increasing the strain rate.

  • In general, soil characteristics are estimated through the sample gathered by field boring without considering sample disturbance. However, soil characteristics must be changed by the degree of sample disturbance. Therefore it be need to estimate the soil characteristic considering sample disturbance which can be occurred by the change of stress condition, sampling technique and handling method. On this study, we analyzed the sample disturbance by using the methods of volume change, residual effective stress, elastic modulus and the curve of consolidation tests. In order to estimate the relationship between sample disturbance and soil characteristics, we used the piston sample and the block sample. As the results, it should be considered in design that the disturbance of the block sample, which affects the strength and compression properties of clay, is smaller than the disturbance of piston sample.

  • A depth-averaged X-Y numerical model with transformed coordinates is developed to analyze the salinity dispersion in estuaries. Simulation of intertidal zones, residual current and closed boundary condition are examined. Especially. the improvements in stability and accuracy of the numerical algorithm are made by adopting fractional step method for the dispersion term of the governing equation. The model being applied to the Keum River Esturary, velocity fields and salinity fields are reproduced satisfactorily and the estimation of the dispersion coefficient with respect to the flow fold is also studied.
