  • Self-actualization has been suggested as one of the psychological or health benefits of forest experience. This study was designed to determine to what extent participation on five-week National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) courses increased the self-actualization of participants and whether individual characteristics were correlated with the change, Data were collected at NOLS during the summer of 1987 using pretest-posttest control group design, Significant positive increases in self-actualization were found. However, individual characteristics such as sex, age, previous forest experience, place of residence and education level showed no significant effect on self-actualization change.

  • Background: In tuberculosis (TB) patients, health-related quality of life (HRQoL) is significant in self-management, which in turn can be effective in therapeutic acceptance and prevention of treatment failure due to multi-drug resistant TB. This study was conducted to evaluate HRQoL and associated factors in TB patients referred to the National Research Institute of Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (NRITLD). Methods: In this study, patients were selected from TB clinics of the NRITLD in Tehran. In addition to an Iranian version of the Short-Form Health Survey (SF-36), demographic and disease characteristic questionnaires were used for data collection. The data were then analyzed using SPSS software. Results: Two hundred five TB patients, with the average age of $42.33{\pm}17.64$ years, participated in this study. The HRQoL scores in different domains ranged from $14.68{\pm}11.60$ for role limitations due to emotional problems to $46.99{\pm}13.25$ for general health perceptions. The variables of sex, marital status, education, job status, place of residence, and cigarette smoking, influenced the HRQoL scores in different dimensions. Conclusion: According to the study findings are the important variables that influenced the HRQoL of TB patients. The consideration of its can improve the HRQoL of TB patients.

There are many unique traits of Hanok and one of them is that it is built based on scientific principles. Hanok, without using modern technology and machines, utilizes effectively the natural environment and the climate, e.g., the sun and the wind. Hanok, based on Korea's geographical condition and climate characteristics, have produced a variety of residential houses. The principle of Hanok is not to challenge the nature but embrace and accept it. Furthermore, in Hanok is embedded Korea's traditional philosophy and ideas and it is not simply a simple residential space but also a place for meditation and spiritual training. As the time passes, there are more researches are being done to enhance health in addition to traditional role of protection and convenience. Accordingly, more efforts are being made to bring the nature into human life. Hanok, the traditional residential form of Korea, has environment-friendly architecture and characteristics that could promote human health and enhance our life. Therefore, the nature-oriented philosophy and environmental elements of Hanok should be more systematically studied to take advantage of its architectural advantages and create healthier modern residential culture.

  • The paper analyzed the excavational data from Bupyeong-office in Ulsan county in Chosun Dynasty, examined the composition of the community estimated at station community, and studied the duration of the community by using the excavated relics. In addition, the paper compared the excavational data with documentary records, studied the location Bupyeong-office, and investigated the size of station community overall. Community compositions such as buildings, residential place, pits, stoves, hemp kilns, cremation tombs, and farming appliances were identified. When compared to excavated relics such as tiles, white porcelain jars, agrayish-blue-powdered celadons, and celadon porcelains from building, residance, and pits, the community existed during 14C~17C. The station location was on the west side to the quarters for Byongmajuldosa of the Left Gyeongsangdo at King's location according to the old maps and documentary records. It is widely expected that No, 201 foundation stone buildings at Pyungsan relic I was related to the station because there was a distinctions on the stone pillar waterway and high quality of location in the size(the front 9 sections ${\times}$ the side 1 section) and the community. According to the building's functions and duplication relations in the community, it is regarded that there were 33~40 ground buildings, 40~45 pitting buildings, storages or 15~30 other purpose buildings, and 5~7 public buildings around No, 210 building in Bupyeong-office town.

  • This study aims to comprehend architectural peculiarity of the hermitage as the one of Buddhist architectural type in Korea. Although it has not defined properly, it has been demanded the architectural respondence according to the environment of times since the introduction from other countries. Gimryong-sa temple, founded in 1635, and the hermitages are the most appropriate objects for analysis because there are many documents still remained. It is possible to find out that there are some architectural peculiarity after review of the document and the field survey about Geumseon-am(金仙庵=金仙臺), Hwajang-am(華藏庵), Daeseong-am(大成庵), Yangjin-am(養眞庵). In the late of Joseon Dynasty, the group of buddhist proceeded the economical development and the extension of authority based on the family culture. The hermitage functioned for the self-discipline, the meeting of family, the enshrinement of portraits, the memorial ceremony of family at this point. In response to that, the architectural space which had combined residence and rite became preferred such as Inbeopdang(因法堂). And a Large Ondol room called Daejungbang(大重房) was applied and Ru(樓)-Maru was added as the place for rest.

Methods: Data were collected through a structured questionnaire targeting general characteristics, behavior styles, stress levels, stress coping methods, and college adjustment, and were analyzed with descriptive statistics, ANOVA, t-tests, and Pearson correlation using the SPSS program. Results: Stress was related to perceived physical health status, satisfaction with school life, and behavior style. Problem-focused coping was related to exercise, satisfaction with school life, and behavior style. College adjustment was related to place of residence, personality, perceived physical health status, motivation for entrance, and satisfaction with school life. College adjustment had significant positive correlations with stress and problem-focused coping. The relationship between college adjustment and hopeful-thought coping had a significantly negative correlation. Conclusion: These results suggest that identifying the effects of self-understanding programs on stress management and college adjustment is required.

  • This work is for the design study of natural gas reformer (40 $m^3/hr$ over). We used experimental kinetic data from literature. After that, we set up theoretical model based on experimental reaction kinetic data. The shape of reactor is 1.7 m long and 200 mm dia. with cylinder geometry. Volume of reactor is 53.4 liter. Average flow velocity of gases in the reactor has been determined 0.272 m/sec and residence time is 9.26 sec. Reaction temperature is $850^{\circ}C$, with pressure 9.3 Bar. Used natural gas volume is about 9.21 $m^3/hr$. Produced hydrogen is 43.7 $m^3/hr$ with no change of pressure. Unreacted natural gas is 0.09 $m^3/hr$ and the amount of steam is 26.9 $m^3/hr$. Steam to $CH_4$ (s/c ratio) is 2.91. Reforming reaction take place from the reactor entrance to 120 cm region of cylinder type reactor. After the entrance of reacting gases to 120 cm region, the reaction reaches equilibrium which is close to products. This study can be applicable to design various reactors. Output data is in good agreements with the data in literatures1).
