Instrumentation system in Concrete Face Rockfill Dam(CFRD) can give special attention to the deformation characteristics of the rockfill and behavior of the concrete membrane during construction, reservoir filling and subsequent phase of operation. It also contains data about vertical and transversal compressibility moduli of the rockfill, deflections in the concrete slab, and draws comparisons with other concrete face rockfill dams of recent construction. In this paper, the internal deformation data from D dam monitored by means of hydrostatic settlements cells are analyzed. Observations cover the construction stage, reservoir filling and up to March 1991. The above method can be concluded D dam was well constructed and maintained.

To get the possible for management and maintenance, it was analyzed the deformation characteristics, such as crest of embankment and concrete face slab, and leakage of concrete faced rockfill dams (CFRD). There are trends that embankment deformation depends on intact strength used rockfills rather than dam height, deformation normal to concrete face slab during the first reservoir filling is occurred more than 80% of the total deformation in general, and the magnitude and trend of concrete face slab deformation is similar to post-construction crest settlement. The results showed that the range of post-construction crest settlement suggested by Sherard and Cooke (1987), and Clements (1984) had a good agreement in the cases using rockfill with very high intact strength, but it had a trend which underestimated crest settlement in the cases using rockfill with medium to high intact strength. The maximum leakage rate in general was observed during the first reservoir filling and long-term leakage rate was rapidly increased when the dam height exceeds approximately 120m.
A gas fueling system composed of a gas reservoir, an on-off valve, and a gas transferring tube, which is the simplest construction for the pre-programmed gas puffing, was simulated by numerically solving the time-dependent one-dimensional gas flow equation. The purpose of the simulation is to establish the relationship between the gas flow pattern (the elapsed time to the maximum flow, the maximum flow rate, the gas pulse duration) and the system parameters (the filling pressure and the volume of the gas reservoir, and the length and the diameter of the gas transferring tube).
Low-level outlets are necessary to empty reservoir storage in case of emergency such as abrupt storage level rise due to storm, dam body inspection as well as initial reservoir storage filling. However, the Korean standard for low-level outlet should be complemented. In this study, the HEC-ResSim model is utilized to simulate and calculate the capacity of the outlets and the days of release in order to evacuate reservoir storage safely. Three cases are analyzed according to its capacity. As a large dam with more than $1,000{\times}106m^3$ total capacity, Soyanggang Dam is selected and as a medium dam between $100{\times}106m^3$ and $1,000{\times}106m^3$ total capacity, Habcheon Dam is selected. Finally as a small dam with a total capacity less than $100{\times}106m^3$, Daegok Dam is selected. The size of low-level outlet and days of storage evacuation is estimated and the applicability of the analysis method is studied.
Dams have a great importance on energy and irrigation. Dams must be evaluated statically and dynamically even after construction. For this purpose, Torul dam built between years 2000 and 2007 Harsit River in Gümüşhane province, Turkey, is selected as an application. The Torul dam has 137 m height and 322 GWh annual energy production capacity. Torul dam is a kind of concrete face rock fill dam (CFRD). In this study, static and pseudo seismic stability of Torul dam was investigated using finite element method. Torul dam model is constituted by numerical stress analysis named Phase2 which is based on finite element method. The dam was examined under 11 different water filling levels. Thirteenth stage of the numerical model is corresponding full reservoir condition which water filled up under crest line. Besides, pseudo static coefficients for dynamic condition applied to the dam in fourteenth stage of the model. Stability assessment of the Torul dam has been discussed according to the displacement throughout the dam body. For static and pseudo seismic cases, the displacements in the dam body have been compared. The total displacements of the dam according to its the empty state increase dramatically at the height of the water level of about 70 m and above. Compared to the pseudo-seismic analysis, the displacement of dam at the full reservoir condition is approximately two times as high as static analysis.
There has been a great interest in the use of titanium for fixed and removable prostheses in recent because of its excellent biocompatibility. However the high melting temperature and chemical reactivity of titanium necessitates casting systems different from those used in conventional casting. The current titanium casting systems are based on an electric-arc design for melting the metal in an argon atmosphere and its exclusive investment. Despite the new developments in Ti casting systems, inadequate mold filling and internal porosity are frequently observed casting defects. Therefore, the study on the fabrication technique including sprue design to solve these casting defects is still necessary. In this study to evaluate the effect of sprue design on the castability of simulated cast titanium crowns, 10 cylindrical cast crowns for each group with four different sprue design(Single group. Double group, Runner bar group. Reservoir group) were fabricated. An impression of the entire casting margin was made and cut at $90^{\circ}$ intervals, and the sections were photographed in a microscope at $100{\times}$ magnification to record marginal discrepancy. The internal porosities of the cast crowns were disclosed by radiographs. Within the limits of this study. the following conclusions were drawn. 1. The overall mean marginal discrepancies for each group were as follows: Double group, $43.65{\mu}m$; Reservoir group, $50.27{\mu}m$; Single group, $54.17{\mu}m$; Runner bar group, $58.90{\mu}m$ (p<0.05). 2. The mean of marginal discrepancies for wax patterns was $10.65{\mu}m$. 3 The numbers of internal porosity showed the most in Runner bar group followed by Single group, Reservoir group, and Double group.
We have performed to analyze the trophic state resulting of Lake Yongdam as a result of water quality and nutrient concentration. Lake Yongdam is artifitial multi-purpose Dam resulting from the floods of 2001. The water quality of Lake Yongdam may affect the status of the Geum river basin including the Daecheong reservoir. It is necessary to understand the trophic state to assess water quality until stability after flooding. Water quality was surveyed using depth and hydraulic condition analysis. Further density flow was estimated for stratification and trophic state of Lake Yongdam by chlorophyll ${\alpha}$ concentration (2001~2004). And Environmental factors on chlorophyll ${\alpha}$ concentration were analyzed statistically. Trophic state was evaluated as the oligotrophic state at the main stream of the reservoir and eutrophic state at the upper stream in 2001, but evaluated as eutrophic state in 2002 and 2003 by TSI of Aizaki. From the results of multiple regression analysis using stepwise method, chlorophyll ${\alpha}$ concentration was shown to be very significant when nutrient concentration is high upon initial filling of the Dam. Chlorophyll ${\alpha}$ concentration varied according to sample site, season and year. Concentration were high in the upper stream of Lake Yongdam 4, algae bloom in these watershed were affected by location and high nutrient levels in the summer season which have in turn increased phytoplankton bloom into the reservoir.
Objectives: This study was performed in order to evaluate the generation characteristics of airborne bacteria and fungi while operating a household humidifier, in consideration of user habits. Methods: Microbial samples were collected in a closed chamber with a total volume of 2.76 $m^3$, in which a humidifier was operated according to experimental strategies. A cultivation method based on the viable counts of mesophilic heterotrophic bacteria and fungi was performed. Experimental strategies were divided into three classes: the type of water in the water reservoir (tap water, cooled boiled water); the frequency of filling the reservoir (refill every day, no refill); and the sterilization method (sterilization function mode, humidifier disinfectants). Results: Significant increases in the concentration of airborne bacteria were observed while the humidifier was in operation. The concentration had increased to 2,407 $CFU/m^3$ by 120 hours when tap water filled the reservoir without any application of sterilization, while for cooled boiled water, it was merely 393 $CFU/m^3$ at a similar time point. Usages of disinfectant in the water tank were more effective in decreasing bioaerosol generation compared to sterilization function mode operation. Generation characteristics of airborne fungi were similar to those of bacteria, but the levels were not significant in all experiments. Calculated exposure factor can be used as an indicator to compare biorisk exposure. Conclusion: This study identified the potential for bioaerosol generation in indoor environments while operating a household humidifier. User practices were critical in the generation of bioaerosol, or more specifically, airborne bacteria. Proper usage of a humidifier ensures that any biorisks resulting from generated bioaerosol can be prevented.

Earth and rock fill dam is our typical dam because of their inherent flexibility and adaptability to various fundation conditions. In order to secure structural safety, rockfill materials are used angular particles obtained by blasting parent rock or rounded particles collected from river beds. Concrete-faces rockfill dams(CFRD) and Concrete-faces gravelfill dams(CFGD) have become popular in the last 20 years as s result of their good performance and low cost compared with the rockfill dam. These Dams are also constructed by the materials. A key factor in the design of the dams is the deformations induced during construction and upon reservoir filling. These can be predicted using the stress-strain and strength properties can be adequately define. However the stress-strain properties of rockfill are difficult to determine because the properties are affected by such factors as particle grading, size and shape of particles, stress conditions, and particle crushing. In our study, testing of the behavior of the rockfill materials are essential prerequisites to the realistic analysis and design of the CFGD. This paper deals with laboratory testing of particle crushing among the study.

Recently, Point-of-care (POC) testing microdevices enable to do the patient monitoring, drug screening, pathogen detection in the outside of hospital. Immunochromatographic strip (ICS) is one of the diagnostic technologies which are widely applied to POC detection. Relatively low cost, simplicity to use, easy interpretations of the diagnostic results and high stability under any circumstances are representative advantages of POC diagnosis. It would provide colorimetric results more conveniently, if the genetic analysis microsystem incorporates the ICS as a detector part. In this work, we develop a reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) microfluidic device integrated with a ROSGENE strip for colorimetric influenza H1N1 virus detection. The integrated RT-PCR- ROSGENE device is consist of four functional units which are a pneumatic micropump for sample loading, 2 ${\mu}L$ volume RT-PCR chamber for target gene amplification, a resistance temperature detector (RTD) electrode for temperature control, and a ROSGENE strip for target gene detection. The device was fabricated by combining four layers: First wafer is for RTD microfabrication, the second wafer is for PCR chamber at the bottom and micropump channel on the top, the third is the monolithic PDMS, and the fourth is the manifold for micropump operation. The RT-PCR was performed with subtype specific forward and reverse primers which were labeled with Texas-red, serving as a fluorescent hapten. A biotin-dUTP was used to insert biotin moieties in the PCR amplicons, during the RT-PCR. The RT-PCR amplicons were loaded in the sample application area, and they were conjugated with Au NP-labeled hapten-antibody. The test band embedded with streptavidins captures the biotin labeled amplicons and we can see violet colorimetric signals if the target gene was amplified with the control line. The off-chip RT-PCR amplicons of the influenza H1N1 virus were analyzed with a ROSGENE strip in comparison with an agarose gel electrophoresis. The intensities of test line was proportional to the template quantity and the detection sensitivity of the strip was better than that of the agarose gel. The test band of the ROSGENE strip could be observed with only 10 copies of a RNA template by the naked eyes. For the on-chip RT-PCR-ROSGENE experiments, a RT-PCR cocktail was injected into the chamber from the inlet reservoir to the waste outlet by the micro-pump actuation. After filling without bubbles inside the chamber, a RT-PCR thermal cycling was executed for 2 hours with all the microvalves closed to isolate the PCR chamber. After thermal cycling, the RT-PCR product was delivered to the attached ROSGENE strip through the outlet reservoir. After dropping 40 ${\mu}L$ of an eluant buffer at the end of the strip, the violet test line was detected as a H1N1 virus indicator, while the negative experiment only revealed a control line and while the positive experiment a control and a test line was appeared.
