This study is to examine the causes of research misconduct such as plagiarism, forgery, redundant publication, unfair author expression, and incapacitation of the research ethics system of university researchers and to suggest improvement plan. It basically relied on literature research. In order to supplement the deficiencies in literature research, I sought advice from an expert professor who had experience working in a research-related field in university or who is currently in a position related to research ethics through the delphi-method. As a result of the study, from the perspective of individual researchers, the complacent attitude, dishonesty, and greed for research funds were identified as the main reasons. In terms of organization, it was analyzed for reasons such as lack of detail and application of regulations, lack of verification system, and performance-oriented research environment. In order to overcome research misconduct caused by the researcher's personal reasons, regularization, increase in the number of research ethics education, and strengthening personal penalties were suggested. As a way to overcome irregularities arising from institutional reasons, the reinforcement of the verification system, the reinforcement of the whistle-blower's personal protection system, the omission of promotion, and the quality and quantitative balance of research evaluation was suggested.
Due to its role in maintaining the health of scientific societies, research ethics (or integrity) is notably receiving attention by academia, governments and even individuals who are not engaged in scientific researches. In this paper, I will introduce some valuable papers dealt with plagiarism as a representative research misconduct. In general, researcher's results that will soon be published must meet the crucial scientific criteria: originality, accuracy, reproducibility, precision and research ethics. The definition of plagiarism is "appropriation of another person's ideas, processes, results, or words without giving appropriate credit." Compared to fabrication and falcification, plagiarism is often considered as a minor misconduct. With intentionality, however, plagiarism can be corresponding to 'theft of intellectual product'. The context of plagiarism is not restricted to the stage of publication. It can be extended to prior stages of proposing (i.e. preparing the research proposal) and performing (executing the research), and reviewing (writing the review papers). Duplicate publication is regarded as a self-plagiarism in broad interpretation of plagiarism. To avoid dangers of plagiarism, earnest efforts from all members of scientific community are needed. First of all, researchers should keep 'transparency' and 'integrity' in their scientific works. Editorial board members and reviewers should keep fairness and well-deserved qualification. Government and research foundations must be willing to provide sufficient financial and policy support to the scientific societies; Up-graded editorial services, making good use of plagiarism detection tools, and thorough instruction on how to write a honest scientific paper will contribute to building up a healthy basis for scientific communities.
Hwang's scandal give us opportunity to aware about the research ethics, but that can not be established firmly in researcher or the researcher communities. This study analyse the case of research misconduct in order to establish research ethics that was appeared in Assembly hearing process for the candidate of the minister of education(MOE) in July 9, 2014. Based on the analytic results, this study is proposed that provide the institutions to promote responsible conduct of research, implement the research ethics education to all researchers and improve the laboratory culture and evaluation system. This study has the limitations because a single case study. The study is expected to have interest in research ethics and to be up to empirical generalizations through quantitative research.
Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the experiences and awareness of Korean Medicine professors towards research ethics issues and curriculum development. Methods: Electronic mails for requesting the survey participation were sent to 531 professors who were listed in the DB of Association of Korean Medicine. Professors who agreed to participate in the survey were connected to the self-administered questionnaire site, and the responses were stored in real time. Professors were asked the experience of research misconduct cases, the necessity, contents and evaluation method of research ethics education, etc. ANOVA was performed to test the differences of ethics education effects among sub-groups of respondents. Results: Of 137 professors who opened the e-mail, 127 completed the questionnaire. Most professors (87.4%) reported to witness the research misconduct cases, and felt the necessity of research ethics education for professors as well as students. 31.4% of respondents preferred the practice-focused course, and 43.3% preferred the PASS/FAIL basis evaluation system. Professors with shorter education career and professors majoring basic Korean Medicine expected higher effect of ethics education than others. For detailed items of research ethics education, 'ethical writing' and 'ensuring research integrity' were prioritized in the aspects of both personal ethics and social demand. Conclusions: In this study, detailed matters of research ethics education in Korean Medicine area were drawn. Further study and policy development are needed to facilitate the introduction of formal education of research ethics.

Objectives: This study aims to supplement the limitations of the preliminary study and expand the use of the Child-Adolescent Functional Assessment Scale by providing standardized T-scores for measuring function in different areas, as well as guidelines for their interpretation. Methods: The Child-Adolescent Functional Assessment Scale and Korean-Child Behavior Checklist were administered to a total of 623 individuals, including 467 parents of emotionally and behaviorally disturbed elementary school students, 45 parents of emotionally and behaviorally disturbed middle school adolescents and 111 parents of elementary school students with developmental disorders, as well as to a control group consisting of 186 parents of mainstream elementary school children in the Seoul metropolitan area. Results: In contrast to the preliminary study, the emotional domain was disassociated into two factors, negative affect and emotion regulation, and the coefficient of determination for misconduct was increased significantly. Also, the overall reliability and validity of the Child-Adolescent Functional Assessment Scale were similar to those in the preliminary study, and the item structure was consistent. This study provides standardized T-scores of function in different areas based on the revised scale, and provides guidelines for their interpretation. Conclusion: The Child-Adolescent Functional Assessment Scale can assist the Child Global Assessment in Functioning in providing the information necessary for case management and treatment planning by comparing the impairment severity in each area of functioning, and also determining changes in behavior and function after treatment interventions. On the other hand, this scale has yet to clearly distinguish between rebellious behavior and misconduct. Further research is necessary to provide standards for more diverse age groups and for its utilization.
The trust toward the researchers and their study activities in society has faltered, in the wake of the paper fabrication event of researcher, Hwang Woo-Suk's doctor research team. After the event, researcher community and scientific community have experienced many changes through the self-reflection or the process of insight meditation. Until now, we have experienced that when researcher community leads the way to try to show their efforts to eliminate the raised doubts throughly, the public support toward researcher community and the trust in its study activity have not faltered. Nevertheless, the path for the researchers to go is still far and rough because the opposite cases coping with research misconducts passively are much more. Therefore It's urgent that misconducts in the research and learning should be avoided from unnecessary overinterpretation. To practice it, above all it's important how well researcher or learner should be equipped with a system where decision is made autonomously and reasonably, regardless of the interests from all fields including politic, economic and social etc. It's also required that their systems should be meticulous enough to prevent such irrationality in advance before the misconduct instances are depreciated. In this context, I will investigate the reason why research and development on norms in research ethics and learning ethics is meaningful, not in a posteriori but a priori dimension, as the way to have researcher and learner prepare autonomous self-purification systems. It's essential that for the progress of an obvious argument, first, what research ethics and learning ethics are should be established and defined distinctly(2). Then in the process, it is also examined why research ethics and learning ethics need norms(3). Subsequently I will conclude the paper, arguing the reason why research ethics and learning ethics should be justified(4), if the norms in research ethics and learning ethics can be formulated(5).
Objectives : This study was to propose the improved instruction for authors and research ethic regulations by the comparative analysis of those of the domestic journals, for the purpose of enhancing the citation rate of Journal of Korean Acupuncture and Moxibustion Society. Methods : Narrative review method was used for comparatively analyzing instruction for authors of 34 domestic journals, especially focused on how to write a reference. Thereafter, in order to elucidate the drawbacks of current instruction for authors and research ethic regulations of the acupuncture and moxibustion society, the well prepared instructions and research ethic regulations was selected from them, which were compared with the present instructions for authors and research ethic regulations of the acupuncture and moxibustion society. Results : As a result of the comparative analysis of instruction for authors in the 34 domestic journals, style for references was based largely on that of National Library of Medicine and vancouver at the same time. The number of reference was limited according to types of writings. for example, the original article and case report was frequently limited to 40 and 20 references respectively. Authors were mostly listed up to six. If there are more, the first three or six authors were listed with 'et al'. it was generally recommended that using abstracts as references should be avoided and References to papers accepted but not yet published should be designated as 'in press' or 'forthcoming', and that the names of journals should be set in italics and abbreviated according to the List of Journals Indexed for Medline (formerly Index Medicus) published by the National Library of Medicine or koreanmed or WHO-IST, etc. In addition, citation of electrical literature, English writing of reference and obligational citation of more than two articles in the journals were encouraged. In consequence of comparison between well prepared instructions and research ethic regulations of the selected journals and those of current instructions for authors and research ethic regulations of the acupuncture and moxibustion society, the followings were needed to be added or revised. 1. Requirements for case reports were not mentioned. 2. Reporting Guidelines for Specific Study Designs were not included. 3. Previous Orthography of herbal prescription should be revised. 4. Orthography of authors and guidelines for writing article constituents such as title, abstract, introduction, method, statistics, results, discussions were not presented. 5. How to write a reference was so simplified. 6. Definition of Research Ethical Misconduct was omitted and establishment, management and members of committee for research ehtics were not mentioned, 7. Information, reception and investigative procedures of Research Ethical Misconduct was not specified. Conclusions : For the development of Journal of Korean Acupuncture and Moxibustion Society, apporopriate revision of the instruction for author and research ethic regulations should be made based upon the above findings. English writing of reference were believed to be one of the alternatives enhancing citation rate.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to remind the importance of research ethics in research and publication, and to suggest the direction of research ethics by taking examples of research ethics recently implemented by KJFHC. Research design, data and methodology: With reference to the research of existing researchers, why research ethics is important, what are the violations of research ethics, and the efforts of the editorial committee of KJFHC to strengthen research ethics are presented as an example. Results: It is a reality that the concept of research ethics is becoming more complex and important with the introduction of various new academic fields. At this point in time, researchers need to pay more attention to the easily overlooked concept of research ethics. In research ethics, the most important thing is not punishment through monitoring and supervision, but prevention activities of research ethics that can prevent research misconduct before it occurs. As a preventive activity for research ethics, it can be said that the most important is the establishment of a systematic education system and active educational activities of universities and related institutions. Conclusions: This study avoids the general status and solutions for research ethics, and explains the case of the actual academic journal KJFHC and suggests alternatives.

The purpose of this study is to suggest the direction of korean universities' research ethics guidelines in line with the changing research environment. To this end, the relationship between research data management and research integrity was identified by analyzing domestic and international research ethics guidelines and principles related to research integrity, and the current status of research data-related guidelines of overseas research colleges was confirmed. Comparing the results of this analysis with the statistical results of the contents related to "research data" in the university research ethics guidelines for 204 four-year universities in Korea, this study drew implications for securing research ethics, which are national research ethics guidelines, and for aspects related to research data in each university's research ethics guidelines.
