A connecting rod is a crucial part for transmitting an explosive force to the crankshaft in the engine. Stress concentration in connecting rod due to the accumulation of the repeated load may initiate micro crack and result in a crucial break down of the component. Two approaches are adopted to obtain a robust design of connecting rod. Inner and outer array matrix based on combinations of control factors and noise factors are constructed for using Taguchi method. Calculated stress results for each element of matrix are plotted in the Goodman diagram. Robust design approach by Taguchi method reduces stress concentration occurred in small end fillet area of the default model. Variable stress approach using Goodman diagram also confirms a robust design by Taguchi method.
This paper proposes a method for evaluating the work of manufacturing workers using MediaPipe as a risk factor for musculoskeletal diseases. Recently, musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) caused by repeated working attitudes in industrial sites have emerged as one of the biggest problems in the industrial health field while increasing public interest. The Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency presents tools such as NIOSH Lifting Equations (NIOSH), OWAS (Ovako Working-posture Analysis System), Rapid Upper Limb Assessment (RULA), and Rapid Entertainment Assessment (REBA) as ways to quantitatively calculate the risk of musculoskeletal diseases that can occur due to workers' repeated working attitudes. To compensate for these shortcomings, the system proposed in this study obtains the position of the joint by estimating the posture of the worker using the posture estimation learning model of MediaPipe. The position of the joint is calculated using inverse kinetics to obtain an angle and substitute it into the REBA equation to calculate the load level of the working posture. The calculated result was compared to the expert's image-based REBA evaluation result, and if there was a result with a large error, feedback was conducted with the expert again.
In this paper, we propose the design technique of the vehicle's load weight measuring system using tire pressure, which is one of the physical elements of tires. The proposed technique consists of four processes: noise correction by load and vibration, gas flow correction, data mixer and weight conversion. Noise correction by load and vibration eliminates noise that increases the tire's internal pressure due to external shocks and vibrations produced by the vehicle while it is in motion. In the gas flow correction process, the noise of the internal pressure of the tire is increased due to the temperature rise of the ground with respect to the data obtained through the noise correction process due to the load and vibration. In the data mixer process, the load and pressure on the tolerances the empty, median and the full load are classified according to the change in pressure of the tire that is delivered perpendicular to the tire in the event of cargo. In the weight conversion process, weight is expressed by weight through weight conversion algorithms using noise correction results by load and vibration and gas flow correction. The weight conversion algorithm calculates the weight conversion factor, which is the slope of the linear function with respect to the load and pressure change, and converts the weight. In order to evaluate the accuracy of the loading weight measurement system of the vehicle using the tire pneumatic system technique proposed in this paper, we propose the design technique of the vehicle's load weight measuring system using tire pressure, which is one of the physical elements of tires.. Noise correction results by load and vibration and gas flow data correction results showed reliable results. In addition, repeated weight precision test showed better weight accuracy than the standard value of 90% of domestic companies.

Since the paved road suffers from various types of repeated loads for the duration of it's life, it is likely to cause permanent deformation and fatigue finaly destroying the pavement performance. Accordingly, if we are to keep the pavement performance in good condition, it is required to take staps to prevent such troubles from happening in each stage of pavement, and thus to improve the stability of pavement. We find it is quite important to settle the problems such as permanent deformation and fatigue rupture by repeated loads both on subbase course and on subgrade. In this regard, we examined the deformation characteristics of soil cements, on which repeated loads are applied. For the effective examination, we chose to use soil-cements made of cohesive soil and sandy soil respectively, which had $20kg/cm^2$ of unconfined compression strength, at the age of 7 days. The experimental results are: 1. The elastic modulus of soil cement from sandy soil is higher than that of soil cement from cohesive soil. 2. The elastic modulus thends to decrease as the repeated loads rund up to 1,000 times, while increasing between 1,000 times and $1{\times}10^5$ times. 3. Unconfined compression strength is seen to increase about 30%.
Liquefaction refers to a phenomenon in which excessive pore water pressure occurs when a dynamic load such as an earthquake rapidly acts on a loose sandy soil saturated with soil, and the ground loses effective stress and becomes liquefied. The indoor repeated test for liquefaction evaluation can be confirmed through the repeated triaxial compression test and the repeated shear test. In this regard, this study tried to confirm the liquefaction resistance strength according to the relative density and particle size distribution of sand using the repeated triaxial compression test. As a result of the experiment, it was confirmed that the liquefaction resistance strength increased as the relative density increased regardless of the soil classification, and the liquefaction resistance strength according to the particle size distribution of the sand was confirmed that the liquefaction resistance strength of the SP sample close to SW was significantly higher. In addition, as a result of analyzing 30% of fine powder compared to 0% of fine powder, as the relative density increased to 40~70%, the liquefaction resistance strength decreased by 5~20%, and the domestic weathered soil ground had a fine liquefaction resistance strength compared to Jumunjin standard sand. When the minute was 10%, it was measured to be 30% or more, and when the fine particle was 30%, it was measured to be less than 50%.
The study presents the results of an experimental program concerning the shear force transfer between reinforced concrete (RC) jackets and existing columns with damages. In order to investigate the effectiveness of the repair method applied and the contribution of each shear transfer mechanism of the interface. It includes 22 concrete columns (core) (of 24,37MPa concrete strength) with square section (150mm side, 500 mm height and scale 1:2). Ten columns had initial construction damages and twelve were subjected to initial axial load. Sixteen columns have full jacketing at all four faces with 80mm thickness (of 31,7MPa concrete strength) and contain longitudinal bars (of 500MPa nominal strength) and closed stirrups spaced at 25mm, 50mm or 100mm (of 220MPa nominal strength). Fourteen of them contain dowels at the interface between old and new concrete. All columns were subjected to repeated (pseudo-seismic) axial compression with increasing deformation cycles up to failure with or without jacketing. Two load patterns were selected to examine the difference of the behavior of columns. The effects of the initial damages, of the reinforcement of the interface (dowels) and of the confinement generated by the stirrups are investigated through axial- deformation (slip) diagrams and the energy absorbed diagrams. The results indicate that the initial damages affect the total behavior of the column and the capacity of the interface to shear mechanisms and to slip: a) the maximum bearing load of old column is decreased affecting at the same time the loading capacity of the jacketed element, b) suitable repair of initially damaged specimens increases the capacity of the jacketed column to transfer load through the interface.

Tribological properties of nanoporous structured alumina film was investigated. Alumina film (AAO: anodic aluminum oxide) of $60{\mu}m$ thickness having nanopores of 45 nm diameter with 105 nm interpore-diatance was fabricated by mild anodization process. Reciprocating ball-on-flat sliding friction tests using 1 mm diameter steel ball as a counterpart were carried out with wide range of normal load from 1 mN to 1 N in an ambient environment. The morphology of worn surfaces were analyzed using scanning electron microscopy. The friction coefficient was strongly influenced by the applied normal load. Smooth layer patches were formed on the worn surface of both AAO and steel ball at relatively high load (100 mN and 1 N) due to tribochemical reaction and compaction of wear debris. These tribolayers contributed to the lower friction at high loads. Extremely thin layer patches, due to mild plastic deformation of surface layer, were sparsely distributed on the worn surface of AAO at low loads (1 mN and 10 mN) without the evidence of tribochemical reaction. Delaminated wear particles were generated at high loads by fatigue due to repeated loading and sliding.
A load-following operation in APR+ nuclear plants is necessary to reduce the need to adjust the boric acid concentration and to efficiently control the control rods for flexible operation. In particular, a disproportion in the axial flux distribution, which is normally caused by a load-following operation in a reactor core, causes xenon oscillation because the absorption cross-section of xenon is extremely large and its effects in a reactor are delayed by the iodine precursor. A model predictive control (MPC) method was used to design an automatic load-following controller for the integrated thermal power level and axial shape index (ASI) control for APR+ nuclear plants. Some tracking controllers employ the current tracking command only. On the other hand, the MPC can achieve better tracking performance because it considers future commands in addition to the current tracking command. The basic concept of the MPC is to solve an optimization problem for generating finite future control inputs at the current time and to implement as the current control input only the first control input among the solutions of the finite time steps. At the next time step, the procedure to solve the optimization problem is then repeated. The support vector regression (SVR) model that is used widely for function approximation problems is used to predict the future outputs based on previous inputs and outputs. In addition, a genetic algorithm is employed to minimize the objective function of a MPC control algorithm with multiple constraints. The power level and ASI are controlled by regulating the control banks and part-strength control banks together with an automatic adjustment of the boric acid concentration. The 3-dimensional MASTER code, which models APR+ nuclear plants, is interfaced to the proposed controller to confirm the performance of the controlling reactor power level and ASI. Numerical simulations showed that the proposed controller exhibits very fast tracking responses.

The parking brake is an essential unit embedded in the track-driving motor of an excavator. The parking brake plays an important role in keeping the excavator in place not only when it is parked, but also during the digging operation. In fact, the load placed on the parking brake during the digging operation is significantly higher than the parking load, because the impact and rating loads caused by the bucket digging force cycle frequently and have very high load ranges. Therefore, the load conditions during the digging operation should be taken into account in the parking brake certification test. In this study, a series of experiments was carried out in which various operating pressures were applied to the parking brake, where repeated loads were reciprocally placed on the brake by locking the multifriction disc and releasing the hydraulic cylinder. The characteristics of the parking brake were investigated by comparing the obtained experimental results and the theoretical design specifications.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of increase in barbell weight on closely related variable to the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury which are knee joint kinematics, joint load, joint moment, and maximum load attainment point during snatch of the weight lifting. Method: The subjects of the study were 10 male Korean national weight lifting athletes (69 kg 5, 77 kg 5; age: $21.80{\pm}3.91yrs.$, height: $168.00{\pm}4.06cm$, weight: $75.00{\pm}4.02kg$, career: $7.8{\pm}3.99yrs.$, snatch records: $168{\pm}4.06kg$). The weight of the barbell during the snatch operation was set at 70%, 75% and 80% of the highest records for each subject studied. Results: The result obtained from the one-way repeated measure ANOVA are as follows: With increased barbell weight, the extension moment of the left knee joint was higher in the 80% condition than the 70% (p<.001). However, other variables were not statistically significant difference. According to the factor analysis of the variables related to maximum load attainment point of the ACL major injury variables, the first sub-factor was the internal shear force, the posterior shear force, the abduction moment, and the muscle activity of the VL. The second sub-factor was the extension moment of the knee joint, compressive force, adduction moment, and the third sub-factor was the muscle activity of BF. Conclusion: These results indicate that the possibility of ACL injury can be lowered when performing a stable snatch movement.
