The purpose are to demonstrate the pain, stiffness, and physical function by the Korean Western Ontario MacMaster University(KWOMAC) score of the patients with varus deformity osteoarthritis of the knee after treatment period. Twenty outpatients with knee osteoarthritis(OA) were randomized and divided into the control(n=10) and wedge(n=10) groups. The remission scores of the KWOMAC index of severity for knee OA were compared between the groups. The result of repeated two-way ANOVA's revealed that a contact lateral-wedged insole with strapping produced significantly differences in the pain and physical function score between groups after treatment period(P<0.05), but it was not significant differences in the stiffness score between groups(P>0.05). These results suggest that the pain relief and improvement in function reported by patients with osteoarthritis while using lateral-wedged insole with strapping may be achieved by a reduction in external varus moment and medial compartment load.

5년 전 침윤기태(invasive mole)로 진단받았던 43세 여자가 심폐 바이패스 하에 응급 폐색전 제거술을 시행 받았다. 우측 주폐동맥뿐 아니라 좌하엽 폐동맥에도 종양이 침범되어 완전절제는 얻을 수 없었다. 종양 조직검사에서 융모막 암종으로 확진된 후 환자는 6개월 동안 항암치료를 받았고 완전관해 되었다. 드물지만 가임기 여성에서 폐색전이 있을 때 감별진단으로 융모막 암종을 고려해야 한다.

A 2-year-old female lop-eared rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus) was presented to the veterinary clinic at a zoo with pruritus, alopecia, and crusting of the ear. Examination of skin scrapes revealed an infestation with the rabbit ear mite, Psoroptes cuniculi. Weekly subcutaneous ivermectin injection over a three-week period resulted in remission of the clinical signs and improvement of the overall conditions of the rabbit.

In the proportional hazard model with the beta process prior, the posterior computation with the discrete approximation is considered. The time period of interest is partitioned by small intervals. On each partitioning interval, the likelihood is approximated by that of a binomial experiment and the beta process prior is by a beta distribution. Consequently, the posterior is approximated by that of many independent binomial model with beta priors. The analysis of the leukemia remission data is given as an example. It is illustrated that the length of the partitioning interval affects the posterior and one needs to be careful in choosing it.

A clinical study for thymectomy for 23 patients in Myasthenia Gravis was done between May, 1982 and July, 1989. at the department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, College of Medicine, Han Yang University. Among Z3 patients, male to female ratio was 11: 12 and Age of onset was ranged from 15 years-old to 52 years-old. Previous symptom duration from diagnosis until operation was ranged from 2 months to 96 months, and Mean duration was 28.74 months. The severity of disease was classified by Osserman`s classification preoperatively. In histopathology of thymus, Thymic hyperplasia 7 cases, Thymoma 7 cases, Invasive thymoma 3 cases, Within Normal Limit 5 cases, and Thymic Atrophy 1 case. Correlation between preoperative symptom duration and postoperative clinical course was statistically significant. The shorter of preoperative symptom duration, The better of postoperative clinical course. Grading of postoperative course was classified by Papatestas in 1975. Follow-up for postoperative course was ranged from 3 months to 7 year and 4 months, Cases of complete remission 1 year postoperative period were 9 cases and cases of Improvement were 8 cases, So totally 17 cases among 23 cases[73.91%] found good results.

Clinical analysis were performed on 68 cases of subcutaneous emphysema, those were visited at the emergency center of Chosun university hospital during the period form 1992 to 1994. The following result was obtained. 1 The incidence of subcutaneous emphysema was 0.16%, and male was dominant [M:F=6.9:1 .2 The age distribution of subcutaneous emphysema was from 4 to 77 years old and mean age was 49.6$\pm$17.8 years[$\pm$SD 3 The most presenting symptoms were chest pain[49% , and the proceeding cause was traffic accident[38% . 3 The most associated disease was a ipsilateral pneumothorax[59% . 4 Conservative management is an indication in the majority of cases of subcutaneous emphysema because it is usually a self-limited condition and spontaneous remission usually occurs. We conclude that initial effort must be made to detect the underlying cause of the subcutaneous emphysema in order that appropriate management may be undertaken.

Myasthenia 8ravis is a disorder of neuromuscular function due to a reduction of available acetylcholine receptors at the neuromuscular junction. Typically, the muscle weakness is worse after effort and improved by rest. In 1939, Blalock and associated reported a case of patient with myasthenia gravis who was successfully treated by thymectomy. Since then, operation has become increasingly important in the management of this disease. From 1968 to 1983, 10 cases of myasthenia gravis were operated at the Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery,College of Medicine, Seoul National University. 1.Among 10 cases, 4 were male and 6 were female. 2.Thymectomy was performed in 9 cases, and 1 case of malignant thymoma with deeply infiltration to adjacent structure was not resectable. 3.There was 1 operative mortality with respiratory failure. 4.During follow-up period, most of them showed symptomatic improvement, but complete remission was not noticed in any case.

Psoriasis is a common, chronic, recurrent, immune-mediated inflammatory disorder of skin. Although conventional topical and systemic therapies yield remission for a while, they carry a risk of many side effects that limit the long term use of these agents and the disease recurs generally in a short period of time after cessation of therapy. An increasing number of psoriatic patients are using herbal products as a treatment to control their disease with less side effects. Clinicians should be aware of plants used in psoriasis and side effects related with them. The aim of this article is to review the different herbs used in psoriasis treatment.

Paranasal sinusitis is a common disease in the otorhinolaryngology area. It is the change of inflammation at the mucous membrane which surrounds paranasal sinus. Chronic paranasal sinusitis is a chronic inflammation disease with purulent, mucous rhinorrhea, postnasal drip and cough. The attacked period continues above three months and it repeats exacerbation and remission. We diagnosed and treated an outpatient who complains postnasal drip of chronic paranasal drip of chronic paranasal sinusitis based on the Oriental medical theories and had good result.

Shoulder Hand Syndrome is used to describe painful disabilities of the upper extremity due to disturbances of sympathetic nerve supply. A 72 year old male developed hemiplegia on left side on the 5 days after open heart surgery of aortic valve replacement. Three months later, the patient complained of severe pain in the left upper extremity involving shoulder. The left hand showed swelling and flaccid paralysis. Thereafter the left stellate garglion block with 10 ml of l% lidocaine produced prompt pain relief. Thereafter the patient received 94 stellate ganglion block during 7 months which produced permanent remission of pain throughout a 1 year follow period. We recommand sympathetic block for of Shoulder Hand Syndrome following hemiplegia.
