한국인과 미국이민 한국인의 영적안녕과 지각된 건강상태 비교 (A Comparative Study on Spiritual Well-being and Perceived Health Status between Korean and Korean-American)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to compare spiritual well-being and perceived health status between Korean and Korean-American and to provide basic data that might develop comprehensive health care program including spiritual dimension. Method: The subject of the study were 411 adults chosen from religious organization located in Gyeongsang Province, Korea and Chicago, U.S.A.. The instruments used in the study were Spiritual Well-being Scale by Paloutizian & Ellison and Health Self Rating Scale by North Illinois University. Analysis of data was done by using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficient, ANCOVA, ANOVA and Duncan test with SPSS program. Result: 1) The mean score of spiritual well-being of Korean was 3.17 and Korean-American was 2.63, there was significant difference between two groups. 2) Perceived health status of Korean was 2.37 and perceived health status of Korean-American was 2.54, there was significant difference between two groups. Conclusion: According to this study, it is important to take into considerations spiritual aspects and cultural and environmental elements in developing the comprehensive health care program.

말레이시아 호텔 로비에 나타난 공간구성요소의 디자인 특성 (The Design Characteristics of Spatial Organization Elements Observed in Malaysian Hotel Lobbies)

  • The objective of this study was to identify the design characteristics of space components observed in Malaysian hotel lobbies. For this study, we conducted a case study on the facades and indoor space components of 15 hotel lobbies in Langkawi and Penang, and drew conclusions as follows. First, designs found in the facades and indoor space components of Malaysian hotel lobbies reflected all of traditional and colonial styles, religious styles including Islamic, and contemporary styles. Second, traditional designs showed rather the modernization of traditions than the preservation of traditions. Particularly in ceilings, walls and windows/doors, conservative or progressive modemization was observed frequently. Third, contemporary designs were mostly formative modernization, and materials and colors still adhered to traditions and nature. Fourth, in applied furniture, traditional wood sculptures were mixed or traditional material rattarn(stems of climbing palms) was utilized actively. Fourth, a large number of designs symbolized the Malaysian first religion Islam. Summing up these results, the common point of designs observed in the facades and indoor space components of Malaysian hotel lobbies was that they were transformed into Malaysian style regardless of whether they were traditional or colonial.

대학생들의 개인적 특성과 돈 태도 유형이 기부에 대한 소비자 태도에 미치는 영향 (The Influences Personality and the Attitudes Towards Money Play on the Act of Giving Money, by University Students)

  • The purpose of this study was to explore the influences of personality and the money attitude on the giving of money by university students. 275 questionnaires were used for the statistical analysis of this study. The questionnaire includes attitudes towards money and giving money, whether or not respondents had a NGO membership, the level of participation into volunteer service, and other demographic information. The results of the study show that, female, middle class students with no religious preference tended to be more positiveabout giving money. There was a positive relationship between citizenship and giving money attitudes. It means that more actively attended citizenship activities were by students, the more positive attitudes towards giving money they had. The compulsive & consumptive types were more sardonic than others. The managerial types perceived less negatively giving organization. Based on these results, the following have been suggested in order to expand personal giving attitudes, voluntary programs, and activities related to the civil society for students. There needs to be a financial management education program with a balance struck between expenditure categories of consumption and non-consumption, including giving money to others.

Reflections on Public Holidays and Productivity in Nigeria

  • Public holidays are periods set aside by nations or states to observe particular events like national days, independence anniversary or religious festivals. These days are different from the usual periods of statutory leave or vacation provided for workers in the collective agreement or rule of engagement at the point of entry. These periods of leave enjoyed by workers include annual vacation, casual leave, sick leave, maternity leave, paternity leave and others as may be recognized within an establishment. Individual worker's period of leave is personal and at the discretion of the worker or the organization as the case may be, but public holidays involve the stoppage of work by the entire workforce within the period it would last. Nigeria observes many public holidays some of which, at times, are unplanned for by the people. This has attracted arguments for and against on the basis that these holidays are too many and detrimental to productivity and the national economy. Using secondary data, this paper examines the issue and opines that there is the need to review these public holidays with a view to halting their negative effects on the nation's economy. Also, measures to manage these holidays in line with constitutional provisions are espoused.

지역아동센터의 네트워크 연계기관수 및 네트워크 지속성, 서비스 지속성 영향요인 연구 - 전북지역을 중심으로 - (A Study on the Factors Influencing the Number of Network Organizations, Network Continuity and Service Continuity of Community Child Centers - Focusing on Chonbuk Province -)

  • The purpose of this study was to explore how the number of network organizations, network continuity and service continuity of community child centers were affected by the charge factors, organizational factors and environmental factors of community child centers. To better understand this, we researched 107 community child centers in Chonbuk Province. The key results are as follows. The interpersonal connections of the charge factors had a strong effect on the number of network organizations, but organizational factors and environmental factors appeared to have no effect on the number of network organizations. The operational type(religious group), organizational support level of the organizational factors and public-private cooperation, regular consultative group operation(no) of the environmental factors appeared to have an effect on the level of network continuity. The region(local), regular consultative group operation(yes) and public-private cooperation of the environmental factors appeared to have an effect on the level of service continuity. It was hoped that the results would enable us to explore how factors related to a network had an effect on the service continuity, the number of network organizations and clients referral network continuity, and they appeared to have an effect on the service continuity.

Sport and Culture: Application of Traditional and Contemporary Content

  • Purpose: This study started with an interest in sports culture-related content and aims to comprehend the application of traditional and contemporary cultural content to sport business. Research design, data, and methodology: The current study reviews related-documents, research papers, media reports, and a secondary data. The collected data were multiple reviewed via content analysis. Results: Findings are as follow. First, the study found that sports is born in religious rituals which are associated with human needs for survival and prosperity. Second, sports is sort of official format that inherent desire of human could be satisfied, representing play and game. Third, the current study discovered that sports could be cultural products such as literature and film. This is because sport has often been used as major themes in contemporary art production. Finally, this study included important cultural content categories, but could not cover all categories due to the limitations of the study. Conclusions: this study reviewed multiple literature to decode historical and anthropological meanings of sport. The finding presents the cultural traits and meaning of contemporary sport. Further implications were discussed.

한국과 독일의 통일교육 비교분석을 통한 한국 교육에의 시사점 탐색 (Exploring Implications for Korean Education through Comparative Analysis of Unification Education between Korea and Germany)

  • 이 논문의 연구 목적은 한국과 똑같은 분단국가에서 통일을 이룩한 독일 통일교육을 통해 한국통일교육의 시사점을 제시하는 데 있다. 독일은 통일교육을 정치교육이라고 명칭한다. 독일의 정치교육은 통일교육을 포함하여 민주시민교육, 평화교육, 민족 간 연대교육을 포함한다. 또한 학교 통일교육 뿐만 아니라, 시민단체와 정당들도 정치교육을 다루고 있다. 독일의 정치교육은 연방정부차원에서 큰 틀만 제시하고 세부적인 사항은 주정부와 여러 단체들이 역할을 분담하여 이루어지고 있다. 주지역의 특색과 정당, 시민단체의 색깔에 맞춰 적합내용을 담은 정치교육을 실시할 수 있다. 물론 연방정부는 이에 대한 행 재정적 지원을 아끼지 않는다. 이러한 상황에서 독일국민들은 거리감 없이 자연스럽게 정치교육을 수용하고 발전해 나갔다. 이러한 상황에서 한국에게 주는 시사점은 많다. 첫째, 통일교육의 체계적인 시스템이다. 한국은 통일부와 통일교육원을 중심으로 통일교육이 이루어지고 있다. 그러나 국민들에게 자연스럽게 다가가기 위해서는 시민단체와 지자체, 종교단체, 교육지자체를 종합한 체계적인 시스템이 구축되어야 할 것이다. 둘째, '다양성 인정 내에서의 통합'이다. 한국도 독일처럼 국가는 큰 틀만 제시하고, 세부적인 것은 여러 기관과 시민단체에서 이루어지는 다양성이 인정되어야 한다. 셋째, 통일교육의 통합교육전환이다. 독일은 통일교육을 정치교육이라고 하여 포괄적인 교육을 시키고 있다. 우리도 단순한 통일교육이 아닌 포괄적인 통합교육으로 전환하여 내용을 충원하여, 앞으로 다가올 통일을 대비하여야 할 것이다.

한국전통주거(韓國傳統住居)에 나타난 가택신앙(家宅信仰)과 공간구성(空間構成)에 관한 연구(硏究) (A Study on the Shamanistic House Sprits and Spatial Organization of Korean Traditional Houses)

  • Living spaces are the results of social environment and also the reflection of the viewpoints by their residents toward human culture and society. Therefore, in studying living spaces, the true essence of the spaces could be easily distorted when cultural and symbolic motives and values are disregarded and only their apparent characteristics are looked into. Hence, it's necessary to simultaneously understand both physical dwelling spaces from architecture's view points and social ideas, simultaneously, of people who form and interact with the spaces. Hence, this paper tries to study housing religion which is one of shamanistic religions which, in turn, have been the fundamental element of ancient religions and came into existence on the basis of dwelling spaces. This study presumes that house religion may have been permeated with its creators' ideas about living and those ideas could be one of those factors which plays a role in organizing of dwelling spaces. As such, with these prior analyses, this thesis attempts to understand the meaning of various dwelling spaces via the characteristics and functionalities of various house spirits which are mentioned in a local house religion and also will find out spatial harmony of Korean traditional living spaces by way of corelations among living spaces, people, and personalized house spirits. Almost all traditional Korean houses have assigned a house spirit to their individual dwelling space. This means a traditional house was considered as a scared space in a secular world called human society and the space was actually intended to protect sacredness of dwelling places from earthliness outside. So when the hierarchy of house spirits in housing religion is projected to a Korean traditional house, it can be shown that a dwelling house as a building was personified to a respectable human status. In other words, it can be concluded that each space was synonymous with a dwelling place for each house spirit and was considered a sacred godly place. In a nutshell, not only each space in a Korean traditional house was a physical and functional space, but also it formed a scared spatial place along with the concept of house spirits intending to ward off disasters and enjoy a comfortable life through those religious symbols and meanings. Housing shamanistic religion which has long been existing with residents and their lives is seeped with the viewpoints of the residents toward life, and hence understanding the meanings and organization of Korean traditional housing can reveal commonly practiced principles of spatial organization of the traditional houses. Therefore an analysis of Korean traditional housing on the basis of humanistic social ideas will help learn Korea's traditional houses which need to be understood in various methods.

국제화에 따른 한국내 자생테러 발생 가능성과 대응전략 (A Study on the Possibility of Homegrown Terrorism in Korea Depending on Internalization and Strategy to Cope with the Terrorism)

  • 테러 조직은 비밀스럽고 점조직으로 전환하는 양상을 보이고 있으며, 테러의 불예측성으로 테러대응은 점점 어려워지고 있다. 자생테러는 자연적으로 생성된 테러리즘으로 테러의 준비, 시행, 효과 등 국내에 국한된 테러리즘이다. 한편 최근들어 세계적인 경제침체와 자유화의 열기로 인하여 중동, 아프리카의 정치혁명, 유럽의 반사회적 저항, 미국의 월가점령 등 폭력과 과격시위가 가열, 확산추세를 보이고 있다. 미국은 물론 영국, 스페인 등 다수의 국가에서 자생적 테러가 발생하고 있으며, 한국에서도 자생적 테러의 가능성에 대한 경고가 전문가들에 의해서 제기되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 국내에서의 국제화의 진전에 따른 다양한 형태의 외국인 국내 유입으로 급속하게 다문화 사회로 전환되어 가는 상황에서 발생할 수 있는 자생테러 가능성을 전망하고, 이에 대한 대응방안을 제시하였다. 그리고 한국이 처해 있는 자생테러 환경과 위협을 분석하였다. 자생테러에 대한 대응방안은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 인터넷을 통한 자생테러 급진주의 전파 차단. 둘째, 테러조직과 잠재 자생테러주의자의 연계 차단. 셋째, 정부와 시민, 종교단체간의 자생 테러 예방 협력. 넷째, 다문화 사회에 대한 열린 접근. 다섯째, 새로운 갈등원인에 대한 체계적 관리 마지막으로 자생테러에 대한 장기적 접근이다. 우리가 이러한 노력을 게을리 한다면 국내의 테러 환경은 새로운 국면을 맞이할 수 있으며, 이에 대한 국가적, 사회적 비용도 커질 수밖에 없을 것이다.

기독병원과 일반병원의 조직문화 특성에 따른 조직성과 분석 (Analysis on Organization Performance Based on Hospital Culture)

  • Our study attempt is to see organizational performance according to the differences between types of hospital cultures. To determine theoretical relationship between the organizational culture and the performance, we select two hospitals in Pusan which are different in the purposes and shapes of establishment. We surveyed their members on a questionnaire based on the type of the organizational culture of the two institutions, analyzed, and review its organizational effectiveness. For the survey with questionnaires, which had been preliminary studied to raise its validity, question forms were distributed to 528 persons in April, 1999 based on the self-responses and recollected within 48 hours. The recollection rate was high(89.96%) and the quantity of questionnaires used for our final analysis was 430(81.44%). The Cronbach Coefficient Alpha of the questionnaires was 0.742. Regarding statistical techniques for analysis of the written materials, dispersion analysis(ANOVA) was adapted to test the organizational effectiveness of the two hospitals having the different organizational cultures, and Pearson Correlation was applied to determine correlations was among all variables. T-test was performed to test organizational effectiveness based on the differences in the extent of sharing the culture, organizational committment and work satisfaction between the two health institutions. From our analysis, we obtain the following conclusions. First, concerning with organizational culture of the two hospital, one of which is a christian hospital and the other is a private foundation hospital, the former is conservative and human-oriented but the latter focuses on renovation and accomplishment. Second, the private establishment has a relatively higher organizational effectiveness that the religious hospital as a result of analyzing the extent of sharing culture, organizational committment and work satisfaction. Third, it has been found that the correlations between the extent of the sharing culture and the organizational committment, the extent and work satisfaction, and the committment and the satisfaction are respectively positive influencing organizational effectiveness, especially work satisfaction. Fourth, cultural factors by which the christian hospital is affected more positively including human relations among its members, belief, its idea of establishment, tradition, work responsibility, power, and wage. On the other hand, factors such as director's leadership, personnel management, wage, hospital regulations and department managers' management ability have been seen as negative influences in order. And fifth, for the private foundation hospital human relations among its members, wages, work responsibility, director's leadership and department managers' management ability were positive in their sequence while wages, personnel management, hospital regulations, welfare and department managers' management ability were considered as negative influences in order. As these results of this study, the higher extent of sharing organizational culture, the more increasing in both organization committment and work satisfaction, the higher the effectiveness. Although it was somewhat difficult to generalize the results whose subjects were the two hospitals only, it was obvious that organizational culture was an important influential factor of organizational effectiveness. It is questionable that the extent of sharing organizational culture, organizational committment and work satisfaction as variables affecting the effectiveness have their validity, but this study has its significance in that it provided an approaching to evaluate the organizational culture of individual hospitals making allowances for such variables related to the general activities in its hospital. We hope the results of the study could be useful for the managerial strategies of the institutions.
