Using time domain reflectometry, the complex dielectric spectra between 10 MHz to 20 GHz has been measured in the whole composition range at 10, 20, 30 and $40^{\circ}C$ for the binary mixtures of ethylene glycol and dimethyl sulfoxide. For all the mixtures, only one dielectric loss peak was observed in this frequency range. The relaxation in these mixtures can be described by a single relaxation time using the Debye model. A systematic variation is observed in dielectric constant (${\varepsilon}_0$) and relaxation time (${\tau}$). The excess permittivity (${\varepsilon}^E$), excess inverse relaxation time $(1/{\tau})^E$, Kirkwood correlation factor (g) and thermodynamic parameters viz. enthalpy of activation (${\Delta}H$) and Gibbs free energy of activation (${\Delta}G$) have been determined, to confirm the formation of hydrogen bonded homogeneous and heterogeneous cooperative domains, the dynamics of solute - solute interaction and the hindrance to molecular rotation in the hydrogen bonded glass forming ethylene glycol - dimethyl sulphoxide system.
The scaling relationship of the longest relaxation time of a single chain of semiflexible biological polyelectrolyte has been investigated by performing well-established coarse-grained Brownian dynamics simulations. Two kinds of longest relaxation times were estimated from time-sequences of chain trajectories, and their behaviors were interpreted by applying the scaling law for different molecular weights of polyelectrolyte and Debye lengths. The scaling exponents for longest stress relaxation and rotational relaxation are found in the ranges of 1.67-1.79 and 1.65-1.81, respectively, depending on the physicochemical interaction of electrostatic Debye screening. The scaling exponent increases with decreasing screening effect, which is a special feature of polyelectrolytes differing from neutral polymers. It revealed that the weak screening allows a polyelectrolyte chain to follow the behavior in good solvent due to the strong electrostatic repulsion between beads.
Stress relaxation behaviors of the cucumber under bending moment were tested with UTM at three levels of loading rate and initial deflection ratio. Sample cucumber was selected from three cultivars of cucumber, Cheongjangmadi, Baekdadagi, and Gyeousalicheongjang, because these cultivars are the most popular grown cultivars in Korea. When the bending moment was applied to the cucumber sample, the effective span between simple supports was held a constant value of 116mm with consideration of the selected sample length. The objectives of this study were to develop the rheological models such as linear and nonlinear models of the stress relaxation for the cucumber samples, and to investigate the effects of loading rate and initial deflection ratio on the stress relaxation behavior of the cucumber. The results of this study may be summarized as follows : 1. Stress relaxation behavior of the cucumber could be well described by the generalized Maxwell model for each level of deflection ratio. But the stress relaxation behavior of the sample was found to be initial deflection ratio and time dependent, and it was represented the nonlinear viscoelastic model as a function of initial deflection ratio and time. 2. Stress relaxation behavior of the cucumber samples was very highly affected by the loading rate and the initial deflection ratio. The more loading rate and initial deflection ratio resulted in the more initial bending stress and after stress relaxation progressed more rapidly. 3. At the same test conditions, it was found that the stress relaxation rate of Cheongjangmadi was faster than that of other cultivars.

The relaxation and elimination characteristics of polarization-photoinduced dichroism have been investigated in amorphous chalcogenide thin films deposited having normal(0。) and obique (80。) vapor incident angles. The dark relaxation kinetics of dichroism from a saturation point(D\ulcorner\ulcorner) to a certain relaxation point(D\ulcorner\ulcorner) grew to be longer on subsequent cycles of switching on and off of the inducing light, and these decays are changed from simple exponential decay to stretched exponential decay. The dichroism induced by a long time(~3.3 hrs) exposure exhibited the characteristics of longer time maintenance and smaller decreasing rate, in contrast with that by a short time (~min) exposure. In addition, the dichroism was eliminated by the exposure of non-polarized He-Ne laser.
Structural change in an amorphous alloy was measured by applying a load below the global yield stregth at ambient temperatures. It was observed that the magnitude of the apparent structural change occuring in the amorphous alloy is determined by the compatative relationship between the stress-induced disordering process and the thermally-activated relaxation process. Structural disorder was observed to take place even at a stress well below the global yield, and the degree of the disorder was increased abruptly at the earlier stage of loading and saturated with time. In the mean time, unlike the previous belief, the relaxation process was observed to occur even at embient temperatures, and the degree of the relaxation was observed to increase linearly with time. The analytical equation predicting the structural change was proposed.
The water proton relaxation rates increase linearly with concentrations of contrast agents, and could be expressed as a function of the concentrations. In this paper, we have investigated MR properties of two different contrast agents, $GdCl_3$ and $CoCl_2$. Relaxivity coefficients were calculated from individual contrast agent solutions, and used for predicting relaxation rates at mixtures of two contrast agents. From the experimental results, we have discussed the feasibility of constructing water solutions with the desired relaxation times using specific mixtures of contrast agents.
The dielectric relaxation study for aniline-dimethylsulphoxide (DMSO) and aniline-dim.ethylformamide(DMF) has been carried out using the Time domain reflectometry (TDR) technique, at different temperature and concentrations, in the frequency range of 10 MHz to 10 GHz. The dielectric parameters viz. static permittivity, relaxation time, the Kirkwood correlation factor, excess permittivity, excess inverse relaxation time and thermodynamic parameters have been obtained. The calibration method based on least squares fit method has been used. The dielectric parameters show systematic change with temperature and concentrations.
A time-resolved probe beam deflection (PBD) technique was employed to study the energy relaxation dynamics of photofragments produced by photodissociation of $CH_3I$ at 266 nm. Under 500 torr argon environment, experimental PBD transients revealed two energy relaxation processes; a fast relaxation process occurring within an acoustic transit time (less than 0.2 ㎲ in this study) and a slow relaxation process with the relaxation time in several tens of ㎲. The fast energy relaxation of which signal intensity depended linearly on the excitation laser power was assigned to translational-to-translational energy transfer from the photofragments to the medium. As for the slow process, the signal intensity depended on square of the excitation laser power, and the relaxation time decreased as the photofragment concentration increased. Based on experimental findings and reaction rate constants reported previously, the slow process was assigned to methyl radical recombination reaction. In order to determine the rate constant for methyl radical recombination reaction, a theoretical equation of the PBD transient for a radical recombination reaction was derived and used to fit the experimental results. By comparing the experimental PBD curves with the calculated ones, the rate constant for methyl recombination is determined to be $3.3({\pm}1.0)\;{\times}\;10^6\;s^{-1}torr^{-1}$ at 295 ± 2 K in 500 torr Ar.

In MR, the iodine CT contrast medium reduces the T1 and T2 relaxation times of the substance, resulting in a change in signal intensity. This study aimed to measure the relaxation rate of MR contrast medium with or without diluting CT contrast medium and analyzed the effect of CT contrast medium. Undiluted Gadoteridol solution was diluted with saline to prepare MR contrast medium phantoms with various levels of Gadoteridol concentrations. Moreover, undiluted Iomeprol was mixed with the prepared MR contrast medium phantoms at 1:1 ratio to make MR contrast medium phantoms with containing CT contrast medium for the experiment. T1 and T2 mappings were conducted to quantitatively evaluate the relaxation time and relaxation rate of these phantoms. The results showed that the T1 and T2 relaxation time and relaxation rate of MR contrast medium diluted with CT contrast medium were significantly (p<0.05) shorter than those of MR contrast medium not diluted with CT contrast medium. The results of this study imply that, when MR contrast medium shall be used after injecting CT contrast medium, CT contrast medium should be discharged enough. Moreover, it would be desirable to conduct CT test after taking MRI test in order to reduce the effects of CT contrast medium on MR contrast medium.
In this paper the transient electron transport in GaAs bulk is simulated by using ensemble Monte Carlo method. To analyze the transient electron transport the 10000 electrons in the .GAMMA. valley are simulated simultaneously for 10 picoseconds. The electric field-velocity relation is obtained. The high impurity density reduces the negative differential resistance effect. The result of transient average velocity shows the electron velocity in the transient state is faster than that in the steady state. This transient velocity overshoot is caused by the intervalley scattering mechanism. And we confirmed the fact that the energy relaxation time is longer than the momentum relaxation time.
