  • The relaxation behavior of aligned electric dipoles in a mixed polymer of P2ANS with P(VDF-TrFE) is studied with optical second harmonic generation (SHG). In this work, a macroscopic noncentrosymmetry of the spin coated film was achieved by an electrical poling. The relaxation of induced polar order of nonlinear optic(NLO) chromophores after poling leads to an insufficient long-term stability of NLO properties. In this work, we develop a new technique to suppress such kind of dipole relaxation in a poled polymer. We found that the poled dipoles in a NLO polymer were effectively immobilized by the internal electric field created by a thermally annealed ferroelectric polymer. The long-term stability in a mixed system of NLO polymer/ferroelectric polymer was successively accomplished by a series of thermal treatments applied to the mixed polymer system at a temperature of $140^{\circ}C$ for at least 1hour after poling.

  • Synaptosomal plasma membrane vesicles (SPMV) were isolated from fresh bovine cerebral cortex. The effects of barbiturates on the rotational relaxation time of 1.6-diphenyl-1, 3, 5-hexatriene (DPH) in intact SPMV and model membranes of total lipids (SPMVTL) and phosphlipids (SPMVPL) extracted from SPMV were examined. Barbiturates decreased the rotational relaxation time of DPH in intact SPMV in a dose-dependent manner. In contrast, they did not affect the rotational relaxation time of DPH in SPMVTL and even dose-dependently increased the rotational relaxation time of DPH in SPMVPL.

  • Dielectric relaxation measurements on 3-nitrotoluene (3-NT) mixture of dimethylacetamide (DMA), dimethylformamide (DMF) and dimethysulphoxide (DMSO) have been carried out across the entire concentration range using Time domain reflectometry technique at 15, 25, 35 and $45^{\circ}C$ over the frequency range from 10 MHz to 20 GHz. For all the mixtures, only one dielectric loss peak was observed in this frequency range and the relaxation in these mixtures can be well described by a single relaxation time using Debye model. Bilinear calibration method is used to obtain complex permittivity ${\varepsilon}^{*}({\omega})$ from complex reflection coefficient ${\rho}^{*}({\omega})$ over frequency range 10 MHz to 20 GHz. The excess permittivity, excess inverse relaxation time, Kirkwood correlation factor, molar energy of activation are also calculated for these mixtures to study the solute-solvent interaction.

  • This paper represents a relaxation matching algorithm based on global structure constraint satisfaction. Relaxation matching algorithm is a conventional approach to the matching problem. However, we confronted some problems such as null-matching and multi-matching problems by just using the relaxation matching technique. In order to solve the problems, in this paper, the matching problem is regarded as constraint satisfaction problem, and a relaxation matching algorithm is proposed based on global structure constraint satisfaction. The proposed algorithm is applied a landslide picture to show the effectiveness. When the algorithm is processed at landslide inspecting and monitoring system, motion parameters such as displacement area and its direction are computed. Once movement is recognized, displacements are estimated graphically with statistical amount in the image plane. Simulation has been done to prove the proposed algorithm by using time-sequence image of landslide inspection and monitoring system.

  • The problem of welding stresses and fatigue behavior is the main concerns of welding research fields. The residual stresses and distortion of structures by welding is exert negative effect on the safety of mechanical structures. That is, expansion of material by high temperature and distortion by cooling during welding process is caused of tensile and compressive residual stresses on welding material, and this residual stresses reduce fracture and fatigue strength of welding structures. The accurate prediction of residual stress and relaxation due to loading and post weld heat treatment of weld zone is very important to improve the quality of weldment. In this study, a finite element modeling technique is developed to simulate the relaxation of residual stresses due to loading and post weld heat treatment of weld zone. The accuracy of finite element models is evaluated based on experimental results and the results of the analytical solution.

  • Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) and solvent swelling technique have been applied for identifying physical transition temperatures in the macromolecular structure of coals. The transition processes seem to be associated with physical relaxation of the coal structure and are irreversible processes. In Pittsburgh No. 8 high volatile bituminous (hvb) coat one physical transition was noted at 250-30$0^{\circ}C$ (at 8$^{\circ}C$/min) without any significant accompanying weight loss. Coals of higher rank than high volatile bituminous, i.e., Upper Freeport medium volatile bituminous (mvb) and Pocahontas No.3 low volatile bituminous (lvb) coals, exhibit structural relaxation just before the major thermal decomposition process and a sharp increase in solvent swellability accompanies this relaxation. In the case of both the Pittsburgh No.8 and the Upper Freeport coat structural relaxations at around 36$0^{\circ}C$ seem to coincide with release of "guest molecules".les".uot;.

  • A zero-dimensional direct simulation Monte Carlo(DSMC) model is developed for simulating diatomic gas including vibrational kinetics. The method is applied to the simulation of two systems: vibrational relaxation of a simple harmonic oscillator and translational-rotational-vibrational energy exchange process under heating and cooling. In the present DSMC method, the variable hard sphere molecular model and no time counter technique are used to simulate the molecular collision kinetics. For simulation of diatomic gas flows, the Borgnakke-Larsen phenomenological model is adopted to redistribute the translational and internal energies.

  • This paper addresses the modified Dynamic Relaxation algorithm, called mdDR by minimizing displacement error between two successive iterations. In the mdDR method, new relationships for fictitious mass and damping are presented. The results obtained from linear and nonlinear structural analysis, either by finite element or finite difference techniques; demonstrate the potential ability of the proposed scheme compared to the conventional DR algorithm. It is shown that the mdDR improves the convergence rate of Dynamic Relaxation method without any additional calculations, so that, the cost and computational time are decreased. Simplicity, high efficiency and automatic operations are the main merits of the proposed technique.

  • To obtain more accurate result in the finite element analysis for electric machinery, it is important to have a mesh being of good quality. This paper describes a new technique of mesh generation for the finite element method. When the list of points defining the region of analysis is given, an appropriate distribution of interior points is generated first. Secondly the points are connected to from the trianlges. Finally the connectivity data are used to reposition the interior points using Laplacian smoothing and mesh relaxation technique. In this paper, a mesh searching technique of Lawson which modifies the start mesh is proposed in addition to the above three steps. This algorithm is simple and produces the meshes being of good quality with high speed in comparison with the existing one.

  • In this paper, the return link of interactive GEO satellite network providing multimedia services is considered. First, we classify data by delay characteristics, and analyze the numbers of expected lost packets and expected delay packets for each data class of each terminal. Next we mathematically formulate optimal rate scheduling model to minimize the weighted sum of the numbers of expected lost packets and expected delay packets considering priority of each data class. We also suggest a dynamic rate scheduling scheme based on Lagrangean relaxation technique and subgradient technique to solve the proposed model in a fast time. Extensive experiments show that the proposed scheme provides encouraging results.
