A Study on the Effect of Public Library Service Quality on User Satisfaction and User Loyalty according to Brady & Cronin's Three-Dimensional Service Quality Model (3차원 서비스품질 모형을 적용한 공공도서관 서비스품질이 이용자 만족도와 이용자 충성도에 미치는 영향)

  • This study aimed to develop and validate a research model to investigate how the service quality of public libraries, where a 3-dimensional service quality model was applied, impacts user satisfaction and loyalty. We collected 353 valid responses through a survey targeting public library users across 21 locations, considering various regional and library-specific characteristics. Our analysis revealed that physical environment quality (PQ), interaction quality (IQ), and outcome quality (OQ) of service quality influence user satisfaction (US). Additionally, outcome quality (OQ) of service quality impacts user loyalty (UL), and user satisfaction (US) affects user loyalty (UL). We also found that quality improvement is a leading factor for user satisfaction, user satisfaction is the primary factor of user loyalty, and the perception of service quality directly and indirectly affects user satisfaction and loyalty. We concluded that continuous research should be actively conducted to respond to the evolving needs of public library users.

Social Capital and Residents' Perception in Rural Tourism Development: Influence on Quality of life and Residents' attitude as a Collective Aspects (농촌관광개발에서 사회적 자본과 주민지각과의 관계 - 집단적 측면에서 삶의 질과 태도에 미치는 영향-)

  • This study explores influences of the relationship between social capital and residents' perception in a collective aspects, and also explores the differences of influence between two groups in 10 rural communities. This study conducts regression analysis with residents questionnaires, and analyzes the relationship of influence among the latent factors, and differences between the two groups. As a results, associational network and social trust factors of social capital are identified as the most important factor in the quality of life and residents' attitudes. In addition, the differences in socio-cultural factor of quality of life and residents' attitude between two groups are identified by comparison with the relationship between two groups, although the explanatory power of both groups is not high. To achieve a successful rural tourism based on the result of this study, rural tourism should consider the regional and demographic characteristics, such as age, occupations and education and so on. The major contribution of this study is to confirm that the impact of social capital on the residents' perception would be different by regions in comparison with two groups, and it will be able to provide useful implication for the rural tourism development in the future.

Dispersion of Maritime Air Pollutants from Harbor Area into Major Port Cities Considering Characteristics of Local Wind Circulation in Korea -A Case Study of Sea and Land Breezes during Summer- (지역 순환풍 발생 특성 이해를 통한 국내 주요항만 발생 대기오염물질의 항구도시 영향 범위 분석 -여름철 해륙풍 모사를 중심으로-)

  • Maritime air pollutants around port cities have gained a great deal of attention due to their direct impacts on regional air quality. This study aims to determine the geographical properties of sea/land breezes in different areas to discover overall ranges of maritime emission dispersion. The HOTMAC-RAPTAD modeling program was used to simulate regional-scale air dispersion considering non-linear and unsteady states during the general summer period for the target areas of the Yellow Sea (Incheon Port and Pyeongtaek·Dangjin Ports), archipelago region (Mokpo Port), South and East Sea (Busan and Masan Ports) and East Sea with mountainous area (Donghae·Mukho Ports). The resulting dispersion lengths of vessel emissions into the onshore regions around the target ports shed light on portal air quality management, because vessel emissions from the Incheon, Mokpo, Busan, and Donghae·Mukho ports were transported 27-31km (Western Seoul), 21-24km (Southern Muan), 20-26km (Gimhae and Yangsan), and 22-25km (Taebeak Mountains), respectively. Therefore, the results of this study provide useful data for regional air quality management and marine air pollution mitigation to improve the sustainability of port cities.

Effects of the Plane of Nutrition on Physicochemical Characteristics and Sensory Quality Traits of the Muscle in Finishing Pigs

  • This study was performed to examine the feasibility of using the low plane of nutrition (LPN) as a means of improving the meat quality of crossbred finishing pigs with a medium weight gain potential. Twenty-four barrows and 24 gilts weighing approximately 48 kg were placed on LPN [a finisher (2.86 Mcal ME/kg and 0.67% lysine) for 91 d] or on a high plane of nutrition [HPN; a commercial grower for 38 d and a finisher (3.35 Mcal ME/kg and 0.9% lysine) for 46 d]. Five barrows and five gilts per treatment weighing approximately 125 kg were slaughtered after the indicated days on the respective diets, followed by physicochemical analysis and sensory evaluation on their muscles. Overall average daily gain was 12.6% less in the LPN group vs. the HPN group (p<0.05). The redness ($a^*$) of fresh longissimus muscle (LM) from the loin as well as from Boston butt was greater in the LPN group vs. HPN whereas the shear force for fresh LM from these primals and semimembranosus muscle was lower in the former. In sensory evaluation for cooked LM, no treatment effect was detected in any of the quality traits examined, except for a lower color score in the LPN vs. HPN group. Results suggest that meat quality of the finishing pigs can be improved to some extent by using LPN. However, the present pigs, whose backfat thickness was 24 mm at 125 kg, are thought not to be lean enough to be fattened over 120 kg.

Applicability of screenings for shotcrete's combined aggregates (숏크리트용 혼합골재로서 스크리닝스의 활용성 연구)

  • In the mix proportion of shotcrete, it was analyzed as required in terms of eco-friendly technology to take advantage of the screenings. Screenings of recycling can be a solution in order to overcome the quality degradation due to the recent lack of good quality sand as well as the utilization of waste materials. Five regional screening and screening replaced fine aggregates for physical characteristics were analyzed to evaluate the usability screenings as shotcrete's combined aggregate. It was analyzed the effect of particle size distribution in the combined aggregate for shotcrete and maximum replacement was estimated according to the type of screenings.

Analysis of flow rate-SS discharges characteristics and causes during rainfall season in Daegi-cheon Watershed (대기천 유역에서의 강우기 유량-SS배출 특성 및 원인분석 연구)

  • The Daegi-cheon watershed is located in the upper part of the Han River, which has the representative highland vegetable growing complexes. This watershed has a large impact on the water quality and aquatic ecosystem in the upstream of the Han River by discharging a large amount of turbid water during rainfall season. For proposing an efficient turbid water management and policy, the analysis of the characteristics of flow rate and SS and its causes needs to be carried out preferentially. In this study, the relationship between flow rate and SS concentration was analyzed in the Daegi-cheon watershed, and in turn the turbidity characteristics were analyzed. As a result of the study, in the normal flood flow condition, it was shown that SS concentration changed arbitrarily due to various environmental factors. On the other hand, the SS concentration was considerably high in the very high flow condition. Based on the field survey, this could be the reason why the effects of the steep valley and slope collapse according to the very high flow rate as well as the source in the agricultural fields were greatly contributed. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a structural best management practice that can stabilize the steep slope and reduce river bed loss along with the typical source managements plans.

Study on Major Mineral Distribution Characteristics in Groundwater in South Korea (국내 지하수의 주요 미네랄 분포 특성에 관한 연구)

  • In order to support effective usage of groundwater as an alternative water resource in future, we investigated distribution characteristics of minerals related with human health. While recent studies tended to focus on small scale, this study broadened research area up to nationwide scale to understand groundwater hydrology and regional, geological distributions of minerals in wide area; we investigated mineral distributions of national groundwater monitoring networks, developed GIS-based mineral maps, and reviewed correlation with geological features. As a result, calcium showed the highest concentration among 5 minerals (Ca, Mg, Na, K, Si) and potassium showed the lowest. Calcium concentration in limestone and sedimentary zone was the highest, and that in pore-volcanic-rock zone was the lowest. While calcium, magnesium and sodium showed differences in concentrations in intrusive-igneous-rock and sedimentary zone, potassium was not within geological features. When we studied regional differences, there were no tendency, but Jeju and Gangwon area showed differences in concentrations of calcium and silica.

Effects of Dietary Energy Level and Slaughter Weight on Growth Performance and Grades and Quality Traits of the Carcass in Finishing Pigs (비육돈에서 사료의 에너지 수준과 도살체중이 성장성적과 도체의 등급 및 육질특성에 미치는 영향)

  • (Y $\times$ L) $\times$ D-crossbred gilts and barrows weighing $80.2\pm0.2$ kg were fed a "medium-energy" (ME) or "low-energy" (LE) diet (3.2 vs 3.0 M cal DE/kg) and slaughtered at 110, 125, or 138 kg, after which physicochemical and sensory quality traits of major primal cuts of resulting carcasses were analyzed, under a 2 (sex) $\times$ 2 (diet) $\times$ 3 (slaughter weight; SW) factorial arrangement of treatments. The ADG and ADFI were greater (P<0.01) in barrows than in gilts and also in 125- and 138-kg vs 110-kg SW. Moreover, ADG and gain:feed were greater in ME vs LE (P<0.01), whereas ADFI was greater in LE vs ME (P<0.01). Backfat thickness, which increased with increasing SW (P<0.01), was not affected by sex or diet. Carcass marbling score was greater (P<0.01) in gilts and LE than in barrows and ME, respectively. Carcass quality grade, which was superior in LE vs ME, was not affected by SW, whereas the yield grade decreased abruptly between 125- and 138-kg SW primarily due to the upper limit of carcass weight imposed on the A and B grades. Physicochemical characteristics including pH, drip loss, and variables pertaining to color of belly, ham, and loin were not affected significantly by any of the treatment factors, albeit statistically significant in some cases, in terms of quality criteria. In sensory evaluation, the acceptability of fresh belly was not influenced by any of the treatment factors. Marbling score of fresh ham was greater in LE vs ME (P<0.01) and tended to increase between 110- and 125-kg SW (P=0.10); in loin, the increase of this variable between the two SW was significant (P<0.01). Following cooking, LE was superior to ME in the acceptability in belly and ham, but the effect of SW was insignificant in any of the sensory quality traits evaluated in this study in any of the three major primal cuts. In conclusion, the present results suggest that SW can be increased to up to 138 kg without compromising carcass quality and that LE has some beneficial effects on quality of the whole carcass and the major primal cuts.

  • Local malt barleys have been examined for the quality characteristics. Regional differences in quality characteristics of malt barley were observed in a single variety. Promising barley varieties for brewing, in terms of protein contents, germinating power and diastic power were Sacheon No. 2,6,9, Mokpo 11 and 12. Possible use of certain malt barleys is suggested and discussed.

Influence of Social Support and Social Network on Quality of Life among the Elderly in a Local Community (지역사회 거주 일반노인의 사회적지지, 사회적관계망이 삶의 질에 미치는 영향)

  • Objective : The purpose of this study is to identify the impact of the social support and social network on the quality of life of the elderly residing in a local community. Method : The subjects of this study were 75 healthy old men and women of 13 sites of welfare centers for the disabled and public health centers and senior welfare centers in Busan and Gyeongju. A survey was conducted with a questionnaire that include general characteristics, cognitive ability, social support, social network and quality of life. The analysis was made on 63 replies except 12 subjects who had been excluded by the subject selection criteria. Result : As a result of analyzing correlation of variables affecting life quality, there was positive correlation in contact frequency(p<.05), intimacy(p<.001), and social support(p<.001). Finally, it was analyzed that the variable of intimacy (p<.001) affected life quality of general aged people living in regional community. Conclusion : It was found that intimacy of general aged people living in regional community was a major variable to affect life quality. It could be identified that intimacy which is qualitative feature of social, relational network for the aged who live passive life was important.
