Finally we choose as a sample which is the real road condition where is around SK telecoms chunnam branch office in wolgok-dong, kwangsan-ku, kwangju and simulate proposition model then we demonstrate the relative superiority with comparing the results.

  • In this study, an efficient removal algorithm for specular reflections in a tooth color image is proposed to minimize the artefact interrupting color image segmentation. The pixel values of RGB color channels are initially reversed to emphasize the features in reflective regions, and then those regions are automatically detected by utilizing perceptron artificial neural network model and those prominent intensities are corrected by applying a smoothing spatial filter. After correcting specular reflection regions, multiple seeds in the tooth candidates are selected to find the regional minima and MCWA(Marker-Controlled Watershed Algorithm) is applied to delineate the individual tooth region in a CCD tooth color image. Therefore, the accuracy in segmentation for separating tooth regions can be drastically improved with removing specular reflections due to the illumination effect.

  • To predict the iris matching performance and guarantee its reliability, image quality measure prior to matching is desired. An analysis on iris image degradation factors which deteriorate matching performance is a basic step for iris image quality measure. We considered five degradation factors-white-out, black-out, noise, blur, and occlusion by specular reflection-which happen generally during the iris image acquisition process. Experimental results show that noise and white-out degraded the EER most significantly, while others on EER were either insignificant or degradation images resulted in even better performance in some cases of blur. This means that degradation factors that affect the performance can be different from those based on human perception or image degradation evaluation.

  • To characterize virtual reflection images of deep subsurface by the method of seismic interferometry, we analyzed effects of offset range, ambient noise, missing data, and statics on interferograms. For the analyses, seismic energy was simulated to be generated by a 5 Hz point source at the surface. Vertical components of particle velocity were computed at 201 sensor locations at 100 m depths of 1 km intervals by the finite difference method. Each pair of synthetic seismic traces was cross-correlated to generate stacked reflection section by the conventional processing method. Wide-angle reflection problems in reflection interferometry can be minimized by setting a maximum offset range. Ambient noise, missing data, and statics turn to yield processing noise that spreads out from virtual sources due to stretch mutes during normal moveout corrections. The level of processing noise is most sensitive to amplitude and duration time of ambient noise in stacked sections but also affected by number of missing data and the amount of statics.

  • Tri-stimulus values of CIE-XYZ and RGB values obtained by photographic film, CCD camera or scanner depend on the spectral sensitivity of imaging devices and the spectral radiant distribution of the illumination. It is important to record and reproduce the reflectance spectra of the object for true device independent color reproduction and high accurate recording of the scene. In this paper, a method to record the reflection spectra of the object is introduced and its application to spectral endoscopes is presented.

  • In this paper, we proposed multispectral image compression method using CIP (classified inter-channel prediction) and SVQ (selective vector quantization) in wavelet domain. First, multispectral image is wavelet transformed and classified into one of three classes considering reflection characteristics of the subband with the lowest resolution. Then, for a reference channel which has the highest correlation with other channels, the variable VQ is performed in the classified intra-channel to remove spatial redundancy. For other channels, the CIP is performed to remove spectral redundancy. Finally, the prediction error is reduced by performing SVQ. Experiments are carried out on a multispectral image. The results show that the proposed method reduce the bit rate at higher reconstructed image quality and improve the compression efficiency compared to conventional method.

  • The validity of the image model is investigated both analytically and experimentally in a half space with an infinite single reflecting surface present. This paper exploits the Sommerfeld integral that represents the exact solution for the reflected field in the half space. The solution is shown to be obtained by direct numerical integration which yields more accurate and stable results. The predicted results from the image model are compared to those from the direct numerical integration of the Sommerfeld integral. It is also experimentally demonstrated that the image model gives acceptably accurate results. It is of significance that this paper reveals analytical and experimental validation of using the image model except near-grazing incidence.

  • In television stereo system, to produce the sound image for spatial impression is too difficult because of the narrow distence between two speakers. A method of widening the sound image using precedence effect was introduced but it didn't work effectively in low frequency band. In this paper, we propose a new method to produce an expanded sound image in full band of audio requency in band sound is expanded by phase shifting method and a higher frequency band sound is expanded by reflection. In simulation and experiment, the proposed system guarantees useful effect of sound image expansion in television stereo system.

  • An underwater acoustic (UWA) communication in shallow water is strongly affected by the water surface and the seabed acoustical properties. Every reflected signal to receiver experiences a time-variant scattering in sea surface roughness and a grazing-angle-dependent reflection loss in bottom. Consequently, the performance of UWA communication systems is degraded, and high-speed digital communication is disrupted. If there is a dominant signal path such as a direct path, the received signal is modeled statistically as Rice fading but if not, it is modeled as Rayleigh fading. However, it has been known to be very difficult to reproduce the statistical estimation by real experimental evaluation in the sea. To give an insight for this scattering and grazing-angle-dependent bottom reflection loss effect in UWA communication, authors conduct experiments to quantify these effects. The image is transmitted using binary frequency shift keying (BFSK) modulation. The quality of the received image is shown to be affected by water surface scattering and grazing-angle-dependent bottom reflection loss. The analysis is based on the transmitter to receiver range and the receiver depth dependent image quality and bit error rate (BER). The results show that the received image quality is highly dependent on the transmitter-receiver range and receiver depth which characterizes the channel coherence bandwidth.

  • This paper proposes a biological iridescence BRDF(Bidirectional Reflectance Distribution Function) compression and rendering method. In the graphics technology, iridescence sometimes is named structure colors. The main features of these symptoms are shown transform of color and brightness by varying viewpoint. Graphics technology to render this is the BRDF technology. The BRDF methods enable realistic representation of varying view direction, but it requires a lot of computing power because of large data. In this paper, we obtain reflection map from iridescence BRDF, analyze color of reflection map and propose representation method by several colorfully concentric circle. The one concentric circle represents beam width of reflection ray by one normal vector. In this paper, we synthesize rough concentric by using several virtually optical normal vectors. And we obtain spectrum information from concentric circles passing through the center point. The proposed method enables IBR(image based rendering) technique which results is realistic illuminance and spectrum distribution by one texture from reduced BRDF data within spectrum.
