Web-Based Integrated Database system Implementation for Diabetes Research (당뇨 연구를 위한 웹기반 통합 데이터베이스 시스템 구현)

  • 오늘날 생물학 데이터베이스 시스템은 끊임없이 증가하고 복잡하게 연결되는 데이터를 처리해야 할 필요성과 데이터양의 증가만큼이나 빨리 성장하는 사용자들의 요구에 부응해야 하는 필요성에 직면해 있다. 이 논문에서는 기존의 생물학 데이터베이스 시스템의 특징을 살펴본 후, 현재 당뇨 관련 데이터베이스가 존재하지 않으므로 당뇨 연구를 위한 포괄적인 정보 제공과 사용의 편의를 제공하기 위하여 생물학 관련 데이터베이스를 교차 참조한 당뇨 연구용 데이터베이스를 설계하였다. 본 논문에서 설계한 데이터베이스는 Genetic Information, Protein Information, In Silico digestion, 그리고 Chemical Information 4개의 메뉴로 구성하였다. Genetic Information과 Protein Information은 Cross-Reference를 통한 관련 데이터베이스와 연결시켰고, Protein Information에서 PDB 코드가 존재할 경우 3차원 분자 구조를 제공한다. 아울러 단백질 동정시에 활용할 수 있는 선택된 효소처리 후의 펩타이드의 이론적 질량값을 계산하도록 구현(In Silico Digestion)하였으며, 당뇨 관련 주요 단백질의 화합물들의 구조를 제공하였다.

  • In order to guarantee the safety of the facility systems, one of the essential components is information on mechanical properties of materials used for the construction. However, acquisition or accumulation of the mechanical property data in industrial fields is limited because this operation does not yield profit, excepting few materials production companies. Corresponding to the urgent needs and poor economical features, the MOCIE has founded the National Center for Standard Reference Data in the KRISS and also designated the Data Center of Mechanical Properties for Metallic Materials (DCMP) as a principal operating section. The DCMP plays roles of collection, edition and evaluation of the mechanical data and development of reference standards. In this study, several functions of the DCMP and standardization procedures of mechanical properties data will be introduced the prospective of standard reference researches will be discussed based on active feedbacks from industrial fields.

Cody Recommendation System Using Deep Learning and User Preferences

  • As AI technology is recently introduced into various fields, it is being applied to the fashion field. This paper proposes a system for recommending cody clothes suitable for a user's selected clothes. The proposed system consists of user app, cody recommendation module, and server interworking of each module and managing database data. Cody recommendation system classifies clothing images into 80 categories composed of feature combinations, selects multiple representative reference images for each category, and selects 3 full body cordy images for each representative reference image. Cody images of the representative reference image were determined by analyzing the user's preference using Google survey app. The proposed algorithm classifies categories the clothing image selected by the user into a category, recognizes the most similar image among the classification category reference images, and transmits the linked cody images to the user's app. The proposed system uses the ResNet-50 model to categorize the input image and measures similarity using ORB and HOG features to select a reference image in the category. We test the proposed algorithm in the Android app, and the result shows that the recommended system runs well.

Issues pertaining to Mg, Zn and Cu in the 2020 Dietary Reference Intakes for Koreans

  • In the current years, it has now become necessary to establish standards for micronutrient intake based on scientific evidence. This review discusses issues related to the development of the 2020 Dietary Reference Intakes for Koreans (KDRI) for magnesium (Mg), zinc (Zn), and copper (Cu), and future research directions. Following issues were encountered when establishing the KDRI for these minerals. First, characteristics of Korean subjects need to be applied to estimate nutrient requirements. When calculating the estimated average requirement (EAR), the KDRI used the results of balance studies for Mg absorption and factorial analysis for Zn, which is defined as the minimum amount to offset endogenous losses for Zn and Mg. For Cu, a combination of indicators, such as depletion/repletion studies, were applied, wherein all reference values were based on data obtained from other countries. Second, there was a limitation in that it was difficult to determine whether reference values of Mg, Zn, and Cu intakes in the 2020 KDRI were achievable. This might be due to the lack of representative previous studies on intakes of these nutrients, and an insufficient database for Mg, Zn, and Cu contents in foods. This lack of database for mineral content in food poses a problem when evaluating the appropriateness of intake. Third, data was insufficient to assess the adequacy of Mg, Zn, and Cu intakes from supplements when calculating reference values, considering the rise in both demand and intake of mineral supplements. Mg is more likely to be consumed as a multi-nutrient supplement in combination with other minerals than as a single supplement. Moreover, Zn-Cu interactions in the body need to be considered when determining the reference intake values of Zn and Cu. It is recommended to discuss these issues present in the 2020 KDRI development for Mg, Zn, and Cu intakes in a systematic way, and to find relevant solutions.

Study on the fast nearest-neighbor searching classifier using distance approximation (거리 근사를 이용하는 고속 최근 이웃 탐색 분류기에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, we propose a new nearest-neighbor classifier with reduced computational complexity in search process. In the proposed classifier, the classes are divided into two sets: reference and non-reference sets. It reduces computational requriement by approximating the distance between the input and a class iwth the information of distances among the calsses. It calculates only the distance between the input and the reference classes. We convert a given classifier into RCC (reduced computational complexity but smal lincrease in misclassification probability of its corresponding RCC classifier. We designed RCC classifiers for the recognition of digits from the NIST database. We obtained an RCC classifier with 60% reduction in the computational complexity with the cost of 0.5% increase in misclassification probability.

Reference Particles-based LTE Base Station Positioning

  • A new positioning technique for positioning of LTE base stations is proposed. The positioning information of the base station is absolutely necessary for model-based wireless positioning, and is required in some of the various merhodologies for estimating signals in an uncorrected area when construnting a database for fingerprinting-based positioning. Using the acquired location-based Reference Signal Received Power (RSRP) information to estimate the location of the base station, it is impossible with the existing trilateration methods. Therefore, in this paper, a method using reference particles is proposed. Particles are randomly generated in the application area, and signal propagation modeling is performed assuming that a base station is located in each particle. Based on this, the errors of measurements are calculated. The particle group with the minimum measurement errors is selected, the position of the base station is estimated through weighted summation, and the signal propagation model of the corresponding base station is built at the same time. The performance of the proposed technology is verified using data acquired in Seocho-dong, Seoul.

  • The importance of factual database is becoming larger and larger as the application of computer in design and processing is increasing. To follow up and support this demand and tendency, construction of factual database is necessary. The goal of this research project is to construct a factual database about the creep properties of high temperature materials. A factual database on the creep properties of 25 kinds of high temperature materials was constructed. Domestically produced data which were appeared in journals, theses, reports, etc., were collected and used as a input data source. Evaluation on these collected data will be done during the 2nd year of this project. In addition to this database construction, an experimental facility to produce creep crack propagation data was set up.

A comparison of three design tree based search algorithms for the detection of engineering parts constructed with CATIA V5 in large databases

  • This paper presents three different search engines for the detection of CAD-parts in large databases. The analysis of the contained information is performed by the export of the data that is stored in the structure trees of the CAD-models. A preparation program generates one XML-file for every model, which in addition to including the data of the structure tree, also owns certain physical properties of each part. The first search engine is specializes in the discovery of standard parts, like screws or washers. The second program uses certain user input as search parameters, and therefore has the ability to perform personalized queries. The third one compares one given reference part with all parts in the database, and locates files that are identical, or similar to, the reference part. All approaches run automatically, and have the analysis of the structure tree in common. Files constructed with CATIA V5, and search engines written with Python have been used for the implementation. The paper also includes a short comparison of the advantages and disadvantages of each program, as well as a performance test.

  • Motif databases are used in the function and structure prediction of proteins which appear on new and rapid release of raw data from genome sequencing projects. Recently, the frequency of use about these databases increases continuously. However, existing motif databases were developed and extended independently and were integrated mainly by using a web-based cross-reference, thus these databases have a heterogeneous search result problem, a complex query process problem and a duplicate database entry handling problem. Therefore, in this paper, we suppose physical motif resource integration and describe the integrated search method about a family-based protein prediction for solving above these problems. Finally, we estimate our implementation of the motif integration database and prediction system for predicting protein motifs.

Ice Hockey Research Data Platform from Official Records Data and Verification

  • In this study, a database was established by analyzing the record data research produced in ice hockey sports. The deployed data verification with Ice hockey reference service was demonstrated with ice hockey officials and players. This research utilized the data stored in the KNSU Datanest data repository and developed PDF parsers for batch processing of records. Among the types of records, the game summary, team roster, team statistics, and player statistics files were collected, and tables were extracted from the records. PDF records were converted to text in CSV format which are converted to DataFrame and loaded into the database. Out of the total 22 types of records, 4 types were constructed with OO data parsed as element values. Data verification has found no problems with the quality of the data deployed, showing a high satisfaction with providing 66 factors against the 30 factors provided by the service previously used.
