  • A novel order-reduction technique for model predictive control(MPC) is proposed based on the singular value decomposition(SVD) of a pulse response circulant matrix(PRCM) of a concerned system. It is first investigated that the PRCM (in the limit) contains a complete information of the frequency response of a system and its SVD decomposes the information into the respective principal directions at each frequency. This enables us to isolate the significant modes of the system and to devise the proposed order-reduction technique. Though the primary purpose of the proposed technique is to diminish the required computation in MPC, the clear frequency decomposition of the SVD of the PRCM also enables us to improve the robustness through selective excitation of frequency modes. Performance of the proposed technique is illustrated through two numerical examples.

Development of Image Processing Technique for Determining Wood Drying Schedules

  • Image processing technique was adapted for exploring the more convenient ways to investigate the drying characteristics of wood. The acquisition of information about drying characteristics is indispensable for the development or improvement of dry-kiln schedules. A small internal fan type wood dry kiln was combined with image-processing and data-acquisition systems to monitor continuously the formation of checks and moisture reduction during drying. All the images and data were analyzed to improve or estimate the dry-kiln schedules and predict the drying time which would be required to dry green wood to 10% moisture content in internal fan type kiln. Samples of 20 mm- and 50 mm-thick Metasequoia glyptostrobodies, Paulownia coreana Uyeki, Pinus densiflora Sieb. Et Zucc., Platanus occidentalis L., Quercus acutissima and Robinia pseudo-acacia were used to verify the potentiality of this technique.

  • This paper deal with the harmonic reduction technique in three-phase square-wave inverter system formed by single-phase inverter. To reduce the harmonics six single-phase inverters are used for forming multi-phase inverter and zig-zag connected output transformer for eliminating the harmonic 6(2k-1)$\pm$1 orders. And an ac filter is furnished at output side. Computer simulations show that the THD of the output voltage can be reduced immensely.

  • In this paper, we proposed a simultaneous switching noise(SSN) reduction technique in muti-layer beards(MLB) for high-speed digital applications and analyzed them using the Finite Difference Time Domain(FDTD) method. The new method by conductive dielectric substrates reduces SSN couplings and resonances, significantly, which cause series malfunctions in the modem high-speed digital applications.

  • The paper describes a new PWM technique, which is suitable for brushless servo drives. By taking into consideration the armature electromotive force, an appropriate switching voltage vector can be selected to enable switching rate reduction. Simulation results show better steady-state performance of this method than that of the classical technique.

고관절 자기공명영상 검사 시 multitransmit 기법의 적용에 따른 검사시간 단축의 유용성 (An effectiveness of multitransmit parallel technique on scan time reduction in hip joint MRI)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 MRI 검사 시 multitransmit 기법의 적용으로 인한 검사시간 단축의 유용성을 알아보고자 하였다. 연구방법은 2015년 7월부터 동년 9월까지 고관절 MRI 검사를 시행한 환자를 대상으로 multitransmit 기법 적용 전-후 고관절의 T1, T2 강조영상을 획득하여 대퇴골두와 장요근의 SNR과 CNR, 그에 따른 검사시간을 비교 평가하였다. 연구결과, multitransmit 기법 적용 전-후 T1, T2 강조영상 모두 SNR과 CNR은 유의한 차이가 없었으며, 검사시간은 적용 전에 비해 T1 강조영상은 42.8%, T2 강조영상은 49.7%로 감소하였다. 결론적으로 MRI 검사 시 본 연구와 같이 multitransmit 기법을 적용하면, 기존의 검사시간 단축관련 연구들에서 문제가 되었던 영상의 질 저하 없이 검사시간을 획기적으로 줄일 수 있으며, 향후 다양한 검사에 multitransmit 기법을 적용한다면 MRI 검사의 고질적 문제인 검사시간을 단축할 수 있어 매우 유용하리라 사료된다.

기초 설계를 위한 고속철도 교량-열차 상호작용 해석의 부구조화 기법 (Sub-structuring Technique of High-speed Train-bridge Interaction Analysis for Foundation Design)

  • 본 논문에서는 고속철도 교량-열차 상호작용 해석을 위한 단순 3 차원 상호작용 해석모델을 기반으로 하여 정식화한 부구조화 기법 적용 상호작용 해석모델을 제시한다. 부구조화 기법에서는 철도 교량의 상부 구조와 지지 구조를 각각 부구조로 모델링하고, 열차-교량 상호작용 해석을 효율적으로 수행할 수 있다. 열차 해석 모델로는 2차원 열차 모델을 사용하고, Lagrange 운동방정식을 적용하여 2차원 열차의 운동방정식을 유도한다. 부구조화 기법에서는 응축 방법을 사용하여 자유도(Degree of freedom)의 수를 줄일 수 있으므로 고유 값 및 고유 벡터 계산을 위한 소요 시간 및 비용과 후속 계산의 소요시간 및 비용이 줄어든다. 본 논문에서는 부구조화 기법으로 Guyan 감소 방법을 사용한다. 단순 3 차원 교량-열차 상호작용 해석과 Guyan 감소 방법을 결합하여 효율적이고 정확한 교량-열차 상호작용 해석을 수행할 수 있다.

전원무결성 해석에 의한 PCB 전원안정화 설계기법 연구 (A study on Source Stability Design Method by Power Integrity Analysis)

  • 본 논문에서는 전원무결성(Power Source Integrity) 해석을 기반으로 PCB(Printed Circuit Board)내부 전원 선로의 RLC 공진(Resonance)현상을 해석하고 PCB내부 공진현상 감쇄를 위한 설계기법을 제시한다. 제시하는 기법은 PCB의 구조적 특성으로 형성되는 공진주파수를 예측하며, 공진현상 감쇄를 위한 디커플링 캐패시터의 적용위치 및 용량을 결정할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 산업용 제어기 내부의 메인보드 회로 시뮬레이션 모델을 통해서 PCB 공진현상 감쇄 설계기법에 대한 타당성을 검증하였다. 본 연구결과는 향후, PCB 회로 설계에서 PDN(Power Delivery Network)구조의 안정도 향상에 기여할 것으로 기대된다.

Mechanism on suppression in vortex-induced vibration of bridge deck with long projecting slab with countermeasures

  • The wind tunnel test of large-scale sectional model and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) are employed for the purpose of studying the aerodynamic appendices and mechanism on suppression for the vortex-induced vibration (VIV). This paper takes the HongKong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge as an example to conduct the wind tunnel test of large-scale sectional model. The results of wind tunnel test show that it is the crash barrier that induces the vertical VIV. CFD numerical simulation results show that the distance between the curb and crash barrier is not long enough to accelerate the flow velocity between them, resulting in an approximate stagnation region forming behind those two, where the continuous vortex-shedding occurs, giving rise to the vertical VIV in the end. According to the above, 3 types of wind fairing (trapezoidal, airfoil and smaller airfoil) are proposed to accelerate the flow velocity between the crash barrier and curb in order to avoid the continuous vortex-shedding. Both of the CFD numerical simulation and the velocity field measurement show that the flow velocity of all the measuring points in case of the section with airfoil wind fairing, can be increased greatly compared to the results of original section, and the energy is reduced considerably at the natural frequency, indicating that the wind fairing do accelerate the flow velocity behind the crash barrier. Wind tunnel tests in case of the sections with three different countermeasures mentioned above are conducted and the results compared with the original section show that all the three different countermeasures can be used to control VIV to varying degrees.

Horizontal instability after acromioclavicular joint reduction using the two-hole technique is preferred over the loop technique: a single-blind randomized clinical trial

  • Background: Most acromioclavicular joint (ACJ) injuries are caused by direct trauma to the shoulders, and various methods and techniques are used to treat them; however, none of the options can be considered the gold standard. This study examines the horizontal stability of the ACJ after a complete dislocation was repaired using one of two Ethibond suture techniques, the loop technique and the two holes in the clavicle technique. Methods: In this single-blind, randomized clinical trial, 104 patients diagnosed with complete ACJ dislocation type V were treated using Ethibond sutures with either the loop technique or the two holes in the clavicle technique. Horizontal changes in the ACJ were radiographically assessed in the lateral axial view, and shoulder function was evaluated by the Constant (CS) and Taft (TS) scores at intervals of 3, 6, and 12 months after surgery. Results: The horizontal stability of the ACJ was better with the two-hole technique than the loop technique at all measurement times. CS and TS changes showed a significant upward trend over time with both techniques. The mean CS and TS at the final visit were 95.2 and 11.6 with the loop technique and 94.0 and 11.9 with the two-hole technique, respectively. The incidence of superficial infections caused by the subcutaneous pins was the same in the two groups. Conclusions: Due to the improved ACJ stability with the two-hole technique, it appears to be a more suitable option than the loop technique for AC joint reduction.
