A Study on the Torsional Frequency Response Characteristic of $4\times2$ Heavy Duty Truck Powertrain ($4\times2$ 대형 트럭 구동계의 비틀림 주파수 응답 특성 연구)

  • In recent truck industry, ride quality improvement as well as payload capacity is a very important subject. In order to achieve this goal, it is necessary to study several sub-systems (powertrain, suspension, engine mount, exhaust, etc) of truck which are major components of vehicle. In this research, torsional vibration reduction method of 4$\times$2 truck powertrain is demonstrated by using computer simulation and experiment. First, truck powertrain is modeled as a vibration system and validity of developed model is verified by comparing free vibration results with experiment results. Second, Most key parameters which influence torsional resonance are examined utilizing mode analysis. Finally, frequency responses of truck powertrain are obtained and reduction counterplans of torsional vibration are suggested.

  • Pollution load allocation can likely be much controversial, which is essential to formulate the total water pollution load management plan. Existing rules(or guidances) in Korea, can provide no specific criteria for load allocation. Therefore, this paper studied(comprehensively) possible standards how or why to choose any particular allocation method, which was applied in the Gwangju City's load allocation for the satisfaction of set water quality goal. This load allocation is basically focused on the load reduction of domestic wastewater rather than industrial wastewater, because the land-use is strictly regulated and larger sources of pollution are few in the Gwangju City. This paper recommends the city to increase the capacity of sewage treatment plants, promote sewerage maintenance, and set higher effluent standards.

  • Grounding electrode design is an important part in lightning protection, and the limit of hazardous voltages (step and touch voltages) below the permissible voltage for human body has been the main goal of grounding electrode design. In this paper, the grounding electrode for the reduction of hazardous voltages was designed and evaluated newly. It was known that the inclined auxiliary grounding conductors installed outside the grounding mesh grid are very effective to reduce the step and touch voltages.

  • Citrus farming become one of highly potent area for the farmer s income in the Asia region. Because of its favorable taste and distinctive aroma, attractive color, and nutritional values, market demand has increased steadily along with the income increases in the region. However, realization of the potent have been constrained due to poor orchard management, frequent occurrences of pest and diseases, and a high cost in production besides of the market failures. Cutting down of production cost should be an operational goal to obtain mope profit where marketing structure has yet been underdeveloped. The objective of this study was to provide a comparative information to those program efforts of searching comparative advantage in production. For the three countries, reduction of labor cost by reduction of chemical application frequency was recommended while pursuing further mechanization in those operation such as in pruning, harvesting and pest control. Adoption of the IPM (integrated pest management) will be useful to reduce the number of spraying chemicals with changed knowledge and attitude of the farmers.

  • The air pollutant emission from the railroad diesel locomotive is still a significant environmental concern in many countries including Korea and Unites States. The emission characteristics of the railroad diesel locomotive were extensively studied in this study. Particulate matter (PM) and nitrogen oxides ($NO_x$) emitted from a large locomotive engine (2-cycle, 16-cylinder, and 3,000-horsepower) under various engine-rating conditions was analyzed with a scanning mobility particle sizer and a gas stack sampler by using a dilution tunnel. We could gain the emission values of 2.1 g/horsepower-hour for PM and 42.7 g/horsepower-hour for $NO_x$. We proposed the emission reduction goal of the railroad diesel locomotive for Korea in comparison with the regulation of United States.

  • In this study, computer simulation program was using to identify the effects of road traffic noise propagation depending on the road types which are very variable in dense city. To achieve this goal, the roads should adjacent to housing complex were categorized into 7 types and propagation noise level should predicted then after simulation of noise exposure population calculation are carried out. Followings the results. First, the road types producing the higher noise level are R1, R2, R3 and R7. The lowest one is R6. And R4, R5 showed that some amount of noise level reduction. Second. the R6 road type which is tunnel shaped showed the highest noise level reduction in vertical distance gap. Last, the order of noise exposure population ratio is R1>R2>R7 and R6 showed the lowest.

  • Temperature reduction in the manufacturing of asphalt mixtures is highly desirable from a number of aspects. Reduced fumes and emissions, and reduced energy consumption, are important environmental reasons to continue pursuing the goal of temperature reduction. There are important construction and performance advantages as well. For instance, improved workability results in better compaction; lower production and placement temperatures may improve prospects for cold weather paving; and lower temperatures will result in less binder aging and possibly better cracking resistance.   • Most advanced countries are researching to apply light weight materials far rolling stock because weight reduction for railway body derives cost-saving, energy-saving, and high-speed. Likewise, current Korea rolling stock field makes arduous effects of weight-reduction, miniaturization, and high-efficiency to achieve a high-speed railway. Aluminum becomes suitable material for these projects because it is much lighter than steel or stainless. Manufacturing the railway car body by using the Aluminum is increasing because Aluminum is not bringing the corrosion by unique oxidation-passivate. Aluminum extrusion profile far railway body requires a high mechanical property, accurate shape dimension, and stable quality because the railway body is composed with many different kinds of extruded profiles. Therefore, it is necessary to research about Aluminum precision-extrusion technology to maintain exit temperature and die load. The goal of this project is applying the Aluminum extrusion profile to next-generation railway car body by developing the Aluminum extrusion profile according to precision-extrusion technology which may maintain isothermal exit temperature.

  • Acute laryngeal trauma is a rare injury, but it threatens both the quality and maintenance of life. The optimal goal of treatment for acute communited laryngeal fracture is restoration of the skeletal framework and epithelial lining of endolarynx. But though the diagnostic skill has been developed, decision making for treatment of laryngeal trauma such as operating tim, open exploration versus closed reduction and stenting is very difficult and controversial. Recently, the authors experienced two cases with severe communited fractures of laryngeal framework and endolaryngeal avulsion injuries who were treated successfully with open surgical repair without stenting. So we report these two cases with review of the literatures.

  • The purpose of this paper is to discuss the methodology of optimizing delivery route scheduling using a capacity integer linear programming problem model developed to a previous case study. The methodology suggests a two-stage decision: the first, automatic, where the manager will obtain guidance generated by the solution of the linear programming model, later they could use post-optimization techniques to fine tune to the best operational solution. This study has the goal to reduce the size of service companies' ground transportation fleets, aiming not only to reduce costs and increase competitive advantages but also to lower levels of air pollution and its consequences, traffic and, therefore, the levels of carbon dioxide, allowing for a reduction in envir onmental disasters.
