The recycled washwater, which has different water quality and is produced about 5 to 20% of the total water volume treated, affects the unit operation of water treatment, especially coagulation process. However, the effects of recycled washwater on unit operation of water treatment have not been fully investigated. In this study, effects of recycled washwater on coagulation process were investigated to find the optimum coagulation condition by analyzing turbidity, $UV_{254}$, TOC removal efficiencies. In addition, effects of recycled washwater on residual Al after coagulation were studied by analyzing soluble and particulate Al. The size distribution and fractal dimension of coagulated also analyzed. The recycled washwater was lower pH than the raw water. And the recycled washwater had higher $UV_{254}$, TOC and residual Al concentration than the raw water. Residual Al concentration of recycled washwater was about 50 times higher than that of raw water. Optimum coagulant dosages on the blending recycled washwater and the raw water for turbidity, $UV_{254}$ and Al removal were lower than that on the raw water. However, TOC removal increased by increasing coagulant dosage. The size and fractal dimension of coagulated particle produced in the blending recycled washwater were larger, which imply faster settling velocity, than those produced in the raw water only.

ThThe purpose of this study is to investigate the compressive strength properties of fly ash using water eluted from recycled coarse aggregate. When fly ash come into contact with water, they have not a autonomously chemical reaction. But fly ash is a pozzolan reaction when fly ash come into contact with water and calcium hydroxide(Ca(OH)2) in alkaline environment. For that reason, if water eluted from recycled coarse aggregate use mixture water, fly ash is expected to reaction of pozzolan reaction property in early stage. According to the experimentation result, ICP-MS analysis showed water eluted from recycled coarse aggregate has a high alkali-ash value of pH of 12 and over. And mixing ratio 30% fly ash mortar using water eluted from recycled coarse aggregate showed a similar strength of plain mortar due to the pozzolan reaction. Also, poor strength in initial age, disadvantage of mortar using fly ash, can be improved as hydration in early age is expedited due to calcium hydroxide(Ca(OH)2) and unhydrated cement component eluted from recycled aggregate mortar.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the compressive strength property of concrete with Ground granulated blast furnace slag(GBFS) using wash water from recycled aggregate. When GBFS is reacted with water, it doesn't happen to hydraulic reaction but GBFS becomes latent hydraulic property in alkaline environment. For this reason, if it is possible to use wash water from recycled coarse aggregate as mixture water, GBFS have the advantage of early strength due to effect of activation. We investigated the compressive strength properties of GBFS concrete using wash water from recycled aggregate. According to the experimentation result, ICP-OES showed wash water from recycled coarse aggregate has a high alkali value of pH of 12. Also, compressive strength in early age using wash water can be improved as an activation.

The effects of polymer-cement ratio and recycled aggregate content on the continuous void ratio, coefficient of permeablity, compressvie, tensile and flexural strengths of water-permeable polymer-modified concretes using recycled aggregate are examined. As a result, the continuous void ratio and coefficient of permeablity of the water-permeable polymer-modified concretes tend to decrease with increasing polymer-binder ratio. Regardless of the recycled aggregate content, the compressvie, tensile and flexural strengths of the water-permeable polymer-modified concretes wtend to increase with increasing polymer-cement ratio.
Recently, the amount of disposed construction materials like demolished concrete is growing fast and the shortage of natural concrete aggregates is becoming serious. Therefore, recycling of aggregates extracted from the demolished concrete is getting important and use of the recycled aggregates for concrete has been seriously considered. However, the use of the recycled aggregates even for low performance concretes is very limited because there are few rational standard evaluation criteria for recycled aggregates which should be different from that for natural aggregates. In this study, rational evaluation criteria for the recycled aggregates are proposed for their use as concrete aggregates. The study also shows that the performance for both the recycled aggregates and the recycled concrete manufactured with the recycled aggregates can be evaluated effectively according to water absorption ratio of recycled aggregates.
The present work looks at the possibilities of recycling more than once demolished concrete as coarse aggregates, to produce new concrete. Different concrete mixes were made with substitutions of 50%, 75% and 100% of recycled concrete aggregates respectively as coarse aggregates. The physico-mechanical characterization tests carried out on the recycled concrete aggregates revealed that they are suitable for use in obtaining a structural concrete. The resulting concrete materials had rheological parameters, compressive strengths and tensile strengths very slightly lower than those of the original concrete even when 100% of two cycles recycled concrete aggregates were used. The durability of the recycled aggregates concrete was assessed through water permeability, water absorption and chemical attacks. The obtained concretes were thought fit for use as structural materials. A linear regression was developed between the strength of the material and the number of cycles of concrete recycling to anticipate the strength of the recycled aggregates concrete. From the results, it appear clear that recycling demolished concrete represents a valuable resource for aggregates supply to the concrete industry and a the same time plays a key role in meeting the challenge for a sustainable development.

To resolve the problem which is demand and supply imbalance of fine aggregate by the shortage of natural fine aggregate and the environment regulations, the studies for the application of recycled fine aggregate made from waste concrete have been recently carried out. The objective of this study is to shed light on the mechanical properties and durability performance of concrete using recycle fine aggregate with various water to cement ratios and unit water contents. And it is intend to propose the fundamental data for structural application of recycled concrete. In particular, the effects according to the variations of water to cement ratios and unit water contents in recycled concrete with recycled fine aggregate replacement of 100 percent are discussed by the test results, such as air content, slump, time of set, compressive strength, tensile strength, carbonation, chloride penetration.

The purpose of this study is the hydration properties of motar using Blast-Furnace Slag(BFS) with water elured from recycled coarse aggregate. The results of the experiment show that the water eluted from recycled coarse aggregate mixed with blast furnace slag has comparatively higher hydration activity than the mortar not mixed with one in early-age mortar causing the calcium hydroxide in the recycled coarse aggregate to work on as a stimulus to the hydration of ground granulated blast furnace slag. BFS mixed with the eluting water the hydration reaction was a promotion.

Pervious concrete is a tailored-property concrete with high water permeability which allow the passage of water to flow through easily through the existing interconnected large pore structure. This paper reports the results of an experimental investigation into the development of pervious concrete with reduced cement content and recycled concrete aggregate for sustainable permeable pavement construction. High fineness ground granulated blast furnace slag was used to replace up to 70 % cement by weight. The properties of the pervious concrete were evaluated by determining the compressive strength at 7 and 28 days, void content and water permeability under falling head. The compressive strength of pervious concrete increased with a reduction in the maximum aggregate size from 20 to 13 mm. The relationship between 28-day compressive strength and porosity for pervious concrete was adversely affected by the use of recycled concrete aggregate instead of natural aggregate. However, the binder materials type, age, aggregate size and test specimen shape had marginal effect on the strength-porosity relationship. The results also showed that the water permeability of pervious concrete is primarily influenced by the porosity and not affected by the use of recycled concrete aggregate in place of natural aggregate. The empirical inter-relationships developed among porosity, compressive strength and water permeability could be used in the mix design of pervious concrete with either natural or recycled concrete aggregates to meet the specification requirements of compressive strength and water permeability.

In this study, a laboratory model test on utilization of recycled aggregates and crushed stone as vertical drains to use alternative material of sand in soft ground is performed. The vertical and horizontal coefficient of permeability of the recycled aggregates and crushed stone showed largely 1.2~4.0 times and 3.0~3.3 times greater than sand, respectively. Therefore, it showed enough to be an alternative material to the sand which had been being used as the vertical and horizontal drainage material before. The variations of pore water pressure with time showed constantly regardless of the load in all vertical drainage materials. When water level drops suddenly, the pore water pressure of the recycled aggregate and crushed aggregate is reduced to nearly zero. Therefore, it was applicable to the field because discharge capacity was similarity to that of sand. The settlement in crushed aggregates and recycled aggregate decreases gradually with the load increase. When water level drops suddenly, earth pressure in all drains materials was evaluated the equivalent drainage capacity similarity to sand because it show approaching the nearly zero.
