The purpose of this study is to develop a Korean word analysis system, which can improve performance of IRS, based on various methods of word analysis. In this study we focused on maximizing the speed of Korean word analysis, modulizing each functional system and analyzing Korean morpheme precisely. The system, developed in this study, implemented optimal algorithm to increase the speed of word analysis and to verify speed and performance of each subsystem. In addition, the numeral analysis processing was achieved to reduce a system burden by avoiding recursive analysis of compound nouns, based on numeral pattern recognition.
New methods to register multiple hemispheric slices of the postmortem brain to anatomically corresponding in-vivo MRI slices within a 3D volumetric MRI are presented. Gel-embedding and fiducial markers are used to reduce geometrical distortions in the postmortem brain volume. The registration algorithm relies on a recursive extraction of warped MRI slices from the reference MRI volume using a modified non-linear polynomial transformation until matching slices are found. Eight different voxel similarity measures are tested to get the best co-registration cost and the results show that combination of two different similarity measures shows the best performance. After validating the implementation and approach through simulation studies, the presented methods are applied to real data. The results demonstrate the feasibility and practicability of the presented coregistration methods, thus providing a means of MR signal analysis and histological examination of tissue lesions via coregistered images of postmortem brain slices and their corresponding MRI sections. With this approach, it is possible to investigate the pathology of a disease through both routinely acquired MRls and postmortem brain slices, thus improving the understanding of the pathological substrates and their progression.

DNS(Domain Name System) is a huge distributed database that converts host name to IP address. We are expecting the importance of DNS is more increased because many Internet application services appear according to the continuous increase of Internet users and nearly all the Internet application services use DNS. To prevent the interruption of DNS service, DNS server is configured with primary DNS server and a secondary DNS server which takes the place of primary DNS server in case of the service interruption. But this scheme is difficult for providing DNS service constantly in case of DDoS attack, which brings about much network load or network problems in DNS server group. Therefore, This paper proposed the scheme to locally distribute load of DNS server, and the use of address system to group the distributed DNS servers. Also, it proposed the authentication scheme of the correspondent server in case the server is changed in DNS server group having grouping address. In this paper, it is shown that the prosed scheme guarantees the improved service reliability with maintaining the present service performance through the evaluation. Through this, we can expect the high improved DNS service can be provided in the Internet environment in the future.
This paper presents relative navigation using intermittent laser-based measurement data for spacecraft flying formation that consist of two spacecrafts; namely, chief and deputy spacecrafts. The measurement data consists of the relative distance measured by a femtosecond laser, and the relative angles between the two spacecrafts. The filtering algorithms used for the relative navigation are the extended Kalman filter (EKF), unscented Kalman filter (UKF), and least squares recursive filter (LSRF). Numerical simulations reveal that the relative navigation performances of the EKF- and UKF-based relative navigation algorithms decrease in accuracy as the measurement outage period increases. However, the relative navigation performance of the UKF-based algorithm is 95 % more accurate than that of the EKF-based algorithm when the measurement outage period is 80 sec. Although the relative navigation performance of the LSRF-based relative navigation algorithm is 94 % and 370 % less accurate than those of the EKF- and UKF-based navigation algorithms, respectively, when the measurement outage period is 5 sec; the navigation error varies within a range of 4 %, even though the measurement outage period is increased. The results of this study can be applied to the design of a relative navigation strategy using the developed algorithms with laser-based measurements for spacecraft formation flying.

Quantile regression proposed by Koenker and Bassett (1978) is a statistical technique that estimates conditional quantiles. The advantage of using quantile regression is the robustness in response to large outliers compared to ordinary least squares(OLS) regression. A regression tree approach has been applied to OLS problems to fit flexible models. Loh (2002) proposed the GUIDE algorithm that has a negligible selection bias and relatively low computational cost. Quantile regression can be regarded as an analogue of OLS, therefore it can also be applied to GUIDE regression tree method. Chaudhuri and Loh (2002) proposed a nonparametric quantile regression method that blends key features of piecewise polynomial quantile regression and tree-structured regression based on adaptive recursive partitioning. Lee and Lee (2006) investigated wage determinants in the Korean labor market using the Korean Labor and Income Panel Study(KLIPS). Following Lee and Lee, we fit three kinds of quantile regression tree models to KLIPS data with respect to the quantiles, 0.05, 0.2, 0.5, 0.8, and 0.95. Among the three models, multiple linear piecewise quantile regression model forms the shortest tree structure, while the piecewise constant quantile regression model has a deeper tree structure with more terminal nodes in general. Age, gender, marriage status, and education seem to be the determinants of the wage level throughout the quantiles; in addition, education experience appears as the important determinant of the wage level in the highly paid group.

In this paper, we propose a new sequential message-passing decoding algorithm of low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes by partitioning check nodes. This new decoding algorithm shows better bit error rate(BER) performance than that of the conventional message-passing decoding algorithm, especially for small number of iterations. Analytical results tell us that as the number of partitioned subsets of check nodes increases, the BER performance becomes better. We also derive the recursive equations for mean values of messages at variable nodes by using density evolution with Gaussian approximation. Simulation results also confirm the analytical results.
This paper describes a new method of calculating expected energy generation and loss of load probability (L.O.L.P) for electric power system operation and expansion planning. The method represents an equivalent load duration curve (E.L.D.C) as a mixture of cumulants approximation (M.O.C.A), which is the general case of mixture of normals approximation (M.O.N.A). By regarding a load distribution as many normal distributions-rather than one normal distribution-and representing each of them in terms of Gram-Charller expansion, we could improve the accuracy of results. We developed an algorithm which automatically determines the number of distribution and demarcation points. In modelling of a supply system, we made subsets of generators according to the number of generator outage: since the calculation of each subset's moment needs to be processed rapidly, we futher developed specific recursive formulae. The method is applied to the test systems and the results are compared with those of cumulant, M.O.N.A and Booth-Baleriaux method. It is verified that the M.O.C.A method is faster and more accurate than any other methods.

We propose a novel method of selecting key VOPs from MPEG-4 compressed domain without fully decoding the compressed data. Approximated shapes of VOPs are obtained from the shape coding mode and then VOPs are clustered by shape similarity to generate key VOPs. The proposed method reduces the computation time of shape approximation, compared with Erol's method. Nevertheless, the resulting VOPs have a good summarizing capability of a video sequence. NMHD (normalized mean Hausdorff distance) values are 2-means clustered to generate key VOPs. In the video search, the MHD of a query VOP from key VOPs are computed and the VOP with the lowest distance is returned. Tests on standard MPEG-4 test sequences show that the computational complexity is very low. Recursive clustering proved to be very effective for generating suitable key VOPs.

Asymptotic analysis is a powerful tool for the mathematically rigorous design and analysis of anisotropic beam structures. However, it has a limitation in that the asymptotic approach requires asymptotically correct boundary conditions for higher-order solutions, which are often needed for beams weak in shear. A method utilizing Saint-Venant's principle was proposed in a previous work to improve the stress state of isotropic beams and plates. In this paper, such a method is generalized for anisotropic beams, so that one does not need to consider the asymptotically correct boundary conditions for higher-order solutions. Consequently, solving the recursive system equations is not necessary, which makes the method very efficient in terms of accuracy and computational effort.
Purpose: Double sampling $T^2$ chart is a useful tool for detecting a relatively small shift in process mean when the process is controlled by multiple variables. This paper finds the optimal design of the double sampling $T^2$ chart in both economical and statistical sense under Weibull failure model. Methods: The expected cost function is mathematically derived using recursive equation approach. The optimal designs are found using a genetic algorithm for numerical examples and compared to those of single sampling $T^2$ chart. Sensitivity analysis is performed to see the parameter effects. Results: The proposed design outperforms the optimal design of the single sampling $T^2$ chart in terms of the expected cost per unit time and Type-I error rate for all the numerical examples considered. Conclusion: Double sampling $T^2$ chart can be designed to satisfy both economic and statistical requirements under Weibull failure model and the resulting design is better than the single sampling counterpart.
