  • This study aimed to investigate the effect of a young children's happiness program in relation with the Nuri curriculum on young children's happiness and self-esteem. Study subjects included 37 children aged 5 (experimental group 20, comparative group 17) enrolled in A day care center and D day care center located in K district, Seoul. As for the research procedure, an experiment was conducted 48 times in 18 weeks, and the experimental group carried out the children's happiness program linked with the Nuri curriculum. In contrast, the comparative group conducted general activities focusing on the subjects according to the Nuri curriculum. Study results show that there was a significant difference amongst 9 sub-domains related to young children's happiness (health, emotion, immersion, recognition and achievement, parent-child relationship, teacher-child relationship, peer relationship, spirituality, life satisfaction) and 3 sub-domains related to self-esteem (start and spirit of independence, sociality emotionality, academic achievement). Results of this study prove that the children's happiness program in relation with the Nuri curriculum is effective for increasing young children's happiness and self-esteem, and could be used as preliminary data for the possibility of a happiness program in early childhood education settings and happiness education in the future.

Collected data were statistically analyzed using SPSS 12.0 Windows. Results of this study can be summarized as follows. The students were mostly satisfied with the learning environment and teaching methods of the institute. A significant difference was observed between male and female students for recognizing teaching methods and major recognition. Furthermore, the educational environment and major recognition of students were positively related with learning satisfaction. • Researchers and curricula continue to call for proof to serve a central role in learning of mathematics throughout kindergarten to grade 12 and beyond. Despite its prominence and recognition gained during past decades, proof is still a stumbling block for both teachers and students. Research efforts have been made to address issues related to teaching and learning of proof. An area in which such research efforts have been made is analysis of curriculum material (i.e. textbook analysis) with a focus on proof. This study is another research effort in this area of research through investigating the guidance offered in curriculum materials with the following research question: What is the nature (e.g., kinds of content knowledge, pedagogical content knowledge) of guidance is offered for teachers to implement proof tasks in grade 8 geometry textbooks? Results indicate that the guidance offered for proof tasks are concerned more with content knowledge about the content-specific instructional goals than with pedagogical content knowledge which supports teachers in preparing in-class interactions with students to teach proof.

  • The purpose of this paper is to show how much the subjects based on the mathematics and statistics contribute to the curriculum and the education of the students majoring in engineer of the Computer-Software department, and to recognize the roles of mathematics and statistics in the Computer-Software department. In order to advance the world-class Computer-Software department, it is necessary for Math/Stat to ensure the role as a basis for the Computer-Software majors as well as to extend its role to relate the core studies of the Computer-Software majors. Consequently, the recognition of Math/Stat in the Computer-Software major will enable to establish the short or/and long-tern plan for student education.

The survey was conducted to 130 alternative school students and 241 general school students in Gyeonggi province. In students' satisfaction on their school, there is appeared the highest at 'average'(38.6%) in general schools and 'satisfied'(40.8%) in alternative schools, showing that those in alternative schools have greater satisfaction on their schools(p<0.001). In the degree of recognition on Home Economics curriculum, the perception as an 'important subject' was average of 3.08/5 points in general school and 3.32/5 points in alternative school, indicating that the recognition in alternative schools was higher than general ones(p<0.05). Also, degree of satisfaction on practice and lecture class was higher in alternative than general schools. However, it was found that the use of audiovisual learning material in alternative schools was much smaller than that of general ones, and the former had poor facilities and practice labs. Regarding degrees of interest in Home Economics curriculum, 'average'(36.9%) in general school and 'rather interested in the subject'(38.5%) in alternative schools were most common. About the opinion that they needed to learn Home Economics subject, the answer 'it is needed' was 67.6% in general schools and 79.2% in alternative ones, presenting that the students in alternative schools more felt the need to learn the subject(p<0.05). Regarding the comparison of interest level for each area in Home Economics curriculum according to gender, there was only difference on the area of 'preparation and management for clothing'. On the area, the degree of interest was higher in girls than boys at all the schools(p<0.05). Therefore, in alternative schools, it is suggested that various uses of audiovisual learning materials at teaching and expansion of practice facilities should be provided and created desirable Home Economics class. Also in general schools, it is urgent that countermeasures to increase the practice classes are established in order to improve interest and satisfaction of Home Economics education.

  • In spite of the revisions of guideline for ICT curriculum and Informatics curriculum a lot of people have yet a negative sight and indifferent attitude about their changes. In this research, we used programming course to correct their wrong recognition on Informatics Education. Our experiment study is based on the hypothesis that pre-teachers recognize spontaneously an effect of programming. There are 3 steps that a preliminary questionnaire, a programming course, a post-questionnaire are conducted to 130 pre-teachers to see how recognition changes. There were several findings made in this study. It revealed that pre-teachers's understanding of programming and the need of programming education was extremely poor. However, after programming course, it was found that recognition of pre-teachers change statistically regarding concept of programming and a need of programming education.

  • Criticism has been raised that the way of teaching weights in the 3rd and 4th graders of elementary school is different between the 2015 revised math curriculum and the 2015 revised science curriculum, causing confusion among elementary school teachers and students. This study tried to confirm the social recognition that should be considered in the process of didactic transformation which means transformation from knowledge to used into knowledge to taught and to compare the variations of didactic transformations differently according to didactic intentions. The research analyzes and synthesizes the root of the meaning of weight, weight in the international standard system of units SI, weight implemented in Korean mathematics curriculum and textbooks, Singaporean mathematics curriculum and textbooks, USA mathematics curriculum and textbooks, and Korean science curriculum and textbooks. Through this analysis, a pedagogical perspective on how to define and teach weight in elementary school as knowledge to be taught was derived.
