  • The purpose of this study is to explore the effect of K-university professors' perception of the university on job satisfaction. To do this, correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis were applied on job satisfaction and university perception (curriculum, lecture, research support, research system, undergraduate(major), organizational communication, personnel system, welfare system) data of 81 professors at K-University. As results, each factor showed a statistically significant correlation, and it was found that the perception of lectures, the perception of research support, the recognition of the research system, and the perception of personnel system had a significant positive effect on job satisfaction. Based on the results of this study, policy measures to help increase job satisfaction were suggested.

  • This study was conducted to identify the current situation of home care nursing research and to propose future research in the area of home care nursing in Korea. The design was a retrospective descriptive study based on 171 studies. The studies were collected from nursing academic magazines, the national library web site and dissertations on home care. The data were classified according to the independent and dependent variables which were represented in the research title. The final category classification was defined by considering the research objectives and content as found in the 171 studies. Eight categories were created to describe the results of home care nursing research in Korea. They included: home care needs. home care services. home care costs. development of home care programs and equipment. management of home care services. effectiveness of home care services, development of an educational curriculum for home care, and recognition of home care services. Based on our research we have identified other future research areas that need to be developed such as community needs assessment, standards and guidelines for home care nursing, quality assurance and quality improvement for controlling home care quality, home care informatics. and a system of home care cost and ethics.

  • Purpose: This study was performed to identify nursing students' fall prevention activities, health beliefs of falling and factors associated with fall prevention activities among nursing students. Methods: 149 nursing students from a university completed self-administered questionnaires including participants' characteristics, fall prevention activities, and health belief of falling. Hierarchical multiple regression analysis was used to determine significant independent factors of fall prevention activities. Results: The score for fall prevention activities was $62.40{\pm}9.78$, which was relatively high. The regression model had an adjusted $R^2$ of .16, which indicated that perceived susceptibility was a factor affecting fall prevention activities of nursing students. Conclusion: To increase perceived susceptibility, repetitive fall prevention education including various examples of falls could help nursing students to promote fall prevention activities. Nursing faculty should develop contents to increase recognition of obligation and responsibility regarding fall prevention in curriculum for nursing students.

  • A big difference is seen in the perception of self-responsibility concerning safety, as a result of my survey on the safety measures taken in the pipeline construction at workers level between Japan and Indonesia. Specifically, when an accident occurs, a worker in Indonesia will think that the responsibility depends on the person who causes it. However a worker in Japan will think that safety is can only be protected by law and regulations. There is also another difference in the understanding of construction period. It is alright in Indonesia to take 5 times longer period than it takes in Japan if the cost is less. The idea of punctual delivery is very strong in Japan. Through this survey, points which construction industry in Japan could learn from Indonesia came to surface. In addition, over the recent years, several nasty accidents at Japanese sites were caused due to human error to disregard the law. Japanese should arouse the awareness of self-responsibility in this regard. Risk management should be upon self-recognition of each individual worker in both countries. What is important is the "work attitude education", "to grow sense of self-responsibility by thinking on one's own for one's self" in the education curriculum of man to man learning as in technical educational program.

  • Objective: This study aimed to reveal early childhood teachers' perceptions of teacher competency for ESD using concept mapping and demonstrating its importance. Methods: 16 early childhood teachers in charge of 3-5 year olds conducted statement writing, and then the importance of selected statements were rated by 160 early childhood teachers in charge of 3-5 year olds. Selected statements were analyzed through multidimensional scaling and hierarchical cluster analysis. Results: Early childhood teachers perceived teacher competency for ESD in early childhood as concept mapping with two-dimensions and six clusters. The following six clusters were established (1) ethics for sustainable development, (2) willingness to participate in ESD, (3) development and operation of a sustainable development curriculum, (4) recognition and practice of environmental issues, (5) realization of value for sustainable development, and (6) practical thinking for ESD. And then among the six clusters, the most important cluster was recognized as 'ethics for sustainable development', and among the statements 'having an open mind to understand multiculturalism and the disabled' was considered relatively important Conclusion/Implications: Based on these results, we discussed the importance of teacher competency for ESD in early childhood, development of teacher competency scale, and preparation of a teacher education plans for each competency.

  • This study aims at seeking the effective career guidance and operational plan. We collected data from questionaries to 305 students of vocational school, and 135 students on vocational course for the recognition of and request for vocational home economics curriculum. Collected data were analysed by frequency, percentage, and X(sup)2, and SPSS/PC(sup)+ program are used for the statistical analysis. 1. The main considerations of students in their decision of course were the accessibility of getting a job, or a higher education aptitude, interest, and so on. They made their own decision in choosing their course, relatively were satisfied with their choices. As for the course after graduation they hoped to come by a job related to their major in order to have3 an opportunity for further education, and teachers stood up for the large extent to which their students are satisfied with vocational training by answering that there would be higher possibility of using their major. 2 The results of the investigation into the desirable home economics vocational training in future showed that students of vocational schools desired for the scientific teaching and learning method. Students on vocational curse requested that the educational system should be supported. And new curricula were those for gerontology. interior design, and cookery and bakery.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the needs for new teacher education systems. Through this needs analysis, teachers can evolve in the educational environment in a new learning era based on the substance of novice teacher educational systems. Based on the various pedagogical needs in the field of education, we have to supplement the current teacher education systems in the areas of educational philosophy, teachers' teaching abilities, recognition and understanding for the importance of educational content (curriculum creation), and diversity about communication methods between teacher and student.

  • The business of fortifying teachers' abilities to utilize information is in progress in various ways such as ICT(Information & Communication Technology) training for teachers, the intensification of ICT application, and training teachers who are responsible for information education of school. And teachers' ICT training is being expanded progressively. Therefore, the purposes of this study are to find out the general situation of ICT training for teachers in preparation for the rapidly changing knowledge-information society, and to investigate teachers' recognition about how the training influences on teaching & learning and on the works they are charge in. Also, we analyze the utilization rate of ICT ruining curriculum in relation to activities of teaching and learning and the works teachers' are charge in. On the basis of these, we propose improvement methods for ICT training, thus improve the fundamental quality of education.

  • A capstone design is regarded as one of cap courses in undergraduate engineering education because it requires most prerequisites and makes students experience real engineering design processes. There have been case studies to show how this subject should be organized, practiced, and optimized. This study shows one of the case studies by focusing offshore wind power, one of newly recognized renewable energy resources, especially targeting for the design of wind turbine foundation and submarine power cable protectors mainly because of current energy and global warming crisis. To pinpoint engineering design, the students'activities during the project and design procedures are monitored, evaluated, and recommended; hence, core factors are addressed to develop successful aim, theory, practice, and other necessities. These factors include creative problem solving abilities; recognition of engineering curriculum; selection of project theme based on significance, ripple effect, and education purpose; team organization by the full brain model; systematization of project process; realization of engineering design; and synthesis of evaluation. In the end, the aftermath and future works are discussed.

  • The purpose of this study is to propose education program development models for improving communication competencies of engineering undergraduates in Korea based on practical research with empirical data on engineering undergraduates communication abilities. This study can help many universities to develop communication curriculum for undergraduates in engineering. Because of practical research on 355 engineering undergraduates empirical data, this study can provide new guideline of teaching communication skills (reading, writing, speaking and listening). Future research could examine and develop more possibilities and limitations of these studies through expansion of research to the many universities and students.
