  • Recently, there has been much development on burn-in models in reliability area. Especially, the previous burn-in models have been extended to more general cases. For example, (i) burn-in procedures for repairable systems have been developed (ii) an extended assumption on the failure rate of the system has been proposed and (iii) a stochastic model for burn-in procedure in accelerated environment has been developed. In this paper, recent extensions and advances in burn-in models are introduced and some issues to be considered in the future study are discussed.

  • Triggered star formation is not a new idea - it's been around for at least the last 30 years. Although it has never disappeared from the scene, it seems to be enjoying something of a renaissance in recent years, in both observational and theoretical studies. Here we give a brief discussion of the background of triggered star formation, describe some of our own recent observational efforts in this regard, and briefly mention some initial conclusions that may be drawn.

  • This paper presents a ship navigation system and automated equipments on ship board, whose technology has been quite rapidly developing in recent years. The ship owners and builders are much interested in ship automation systems, due to their comfort, safety and lower life cycle cost in ship operation. Here the basic technology and structure of the system are described, also taken into account is the future trend on the development of the system.

  • Overconsolidated clays have a different stress history according to the deposit environment. The stress history is classified into (i) rotation angle of stress path, (ii) overconsolidation ratio, and (iii) magnitude of length of recent stress path. Stress-strain behaviour of overconsolidated clays strongly depends on these stress history. In this study a series of drained stress path tests were carried out. Test results indicated that stress-strain behaviour of overconsolidated clay(focused on strain rate) depends on OCR and length of recent stress path, especially rotation angle.

  • Primary liver carcinomas have classified classified into hepatocellular carcinoma, cholangiocarcinoma, and combined hepatocellular-cholangiocarcinoma (CHC). CHC is a tumor containing unequivocal, intimately mixed elements of both hepatocellular carcinoma and cholangiocarcinoma. It forms a small but significant proportion of primary liver carcinomas. The origin and pathogenesis of CHC have not been well established. According to the 2010 WHO classification, CHCs are categorized into 2 groups: the classical type and a subtype with stem cell features. This review describes recent progress in pathology and classification of CHC.

  • The objective of numerical analysis is to devise and analyze efficient algorithms or numerical methods for equations arising in mathematical modeling for science and engineering. In this article, we present some recent topics in computational mathematics, specially in the finite element method and overview the development of the mixed finite element method in the context of second order elliptic and parabolic problems. Multiscale methods such as MsFEM, HMM, and VMsM are included.

  • Recent desalination plant system are being operated by applying one of the technologies as like MSF, MED and, or RO. The production cost of pure water from sea water by the desalination plant was U$9/m$^3$ in 1960, but now has been reduced to U$1/m$^3$ at present. The Power and Desalination Plant Project in Al Cobar of Saudi Arabia gave good chance to us export the similar plant systems actively to the world market. 1Hidd IWPP Project in Bahrain, Taweelah B Extension Project in Abu Dhabi of UAE and Ras Laffan B IWPP of Qatar are the recent large scale desalination projects under construction.

  • Many kinds of fluorescent polypyridine compounds including bpy and dppz derivatives are described in understanding the recent current of fluorescent materials having photofuctionality. Those polypyridine compounds have the photofunctionality such as the fluorescence recognition and/or photo-switching. Furthermore, those compounds are applicated for the construction of long ranged photoinduced electron/energy transfer system. Various fluorescent ${\pi}-conjugation$ systems connected by amide or imine bond as well as the simple fluorescent bpy derivatives are introduced in this review paper.
