Implementation of AR Remote Rendering Techniques for Real-time Volumetric 3D Video

  • Recently, with the growth of mixed reality industrial infrastructure, relevant convergence research has been proposed. For real-time mixed reality services such as remote video conferencing, the research on real-time acquisition-process-transfer methods is required. This paper aims to implement an AR remote rendering method of volumetric 3D video data. We have proposed and implemented two modules; one, the parsing module of the volumetric 3D video to a game engine, and two, the server rendering module. The result of the experiment showed that the volumetric 3D video sequence data of about 15 MB was compressed by 6-7%. The remote module was streamed at 27 fps at a 1200 by 1200 resolution. The results of this paper are expected to be applied to an AR cloud service.

  • The traditional face detection method is to use difference picture method are used to detect movement. However, most do not consider this mathematical approach using real-time or real-time implementation of the algorithm is complicated, not easy. This paper, the first to detect real-time facial image is converted YCbCr and RGB video input. Next, you convert the difference between video images of two adjacent to obtain and then to conduct Glassfire Labeling.   • In recent years, a high-quality video input device has been generalized, and a central control system capable of simultaneously viewing video input in real time has become an essential element. At this time, there are attempts to access through the web without installing the program separately. However, if multiple high-quality videos are simultaneously viewed through the web browser, the web browser is terminated by force. In this paper, we propose a web-based HLS(HTTP Live Streaming) multi-view system for real-time high-definition video. We have reconstructed the multi-view screen as a screen by transcoding and implemented a system that can monitor multiple video inputs through a web browser on the fly without using security vulnerability ActiveX.

  • In this paper, we developed a new and robust algorithm for a practical and very efficient MPEG-4 video coding. The MPEG-4 video group has developed the video Verification Model(VM) which evolved through time by means of core experiments. And in the standardization process, MS-FDAM was developed based on the standard document of ISO/IEC 14496-2 and VM as a reference MPEG-4 coding system. But MS -FDAM has drawbacks in practical MPEG-4 coding and it does not have the VOP extraction functionality. In this research, we implemented a preprocessing system for a real-time input and the VOP extraction for a practical content-based MPEG-4 video coding and also implemented the motion detection to achieve the high compression rate of 180:1.

Delivering Augmented Information in a Session Initiation Protocol-Based Video Telephony Using Real-Time AR

  • Online video telephony systems have been increasingly used in several industrial areas because of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) spread. The existing session initiation protocol (SIP)-based video call system is being usefully utilized, however, there is a limitation that it is very inconvenient for users to transmit additional information during conversation to the other party in real time. To overcome this problem, an enhanced scheme is presented based on augmented real-time reality (AR). In this scheme, augmented information is automatically searched from the Internet and displayed on the user's device during video telephony. The proposed approach was qualitatively evaluated by comparing it with other conferencing systems. Furthermore, to evaluate the feasibility of the approach, we implemented a simple network application that can generate SIP call requests and answer with AR object pre-fetching. Using this application, the call setup time was measured and compared between the original SIP and pre-fetching schemes. The advantage of this approach is that it can increase the convenience of a user's mobile phone by providing a way to automatically deliver the required text or images to the receiving side.

  • Existing Android applications for streaming video in real time are dependent on the codec, which composes the encoding function, and the version of Android operating system. Also, for streaming video in real time, most applications should be connected with a separate desktop PC. To overcome these disadvantages, we propose a new application, which records and streams video in real time. Specifically, the proposed application uses the flash video file format, which is the common media file format supported by various versions of Android operating system. Through experiments, we show that it is possible for the proposed application to record the video screens more than 20 frames per second and to stream it in real time while using the existing video encoding methods.

  • This paper proposes the design of sub-pixel interpolation circuit for real-time multi-decoder supporting 4K-UHD video images. The proposed sub-pixel interpolation circuit supports H.264, MPEG-4, VC-1 and new video compression standard HEVC. The common part of the interpolation algorithm used in each video compression standard is shared to reduce the circuit size. An intermediate buffer is effectively used to reduce the circuit size and optimize the performance. The proposed sub-pixel interpolation circuit was synthesised by using 130nm standard cell library. The synthesized gate-level circuit consists of 122,564 gates and processes 35~86 image frames per second for 4K-UHD video at the maximum operation frequency of 200MHz. Therefore, the proposed circuit can process 4K-UHD video in real time.

The Effect of Nursing Students Academic Achievement in the COVID-19 On-Contact Learning Environment: Focusing on Video production class and Real-time video class (COVID-19 온택 학습환경에서 간호대학생의 학업성취감에 미치는 영향요인: 동영상 제작수업과 실시간 화상수업을 중심으로)

  • This study is tried to to identify factors affecting academic achievement depending on the quality of class, learning immersion, level of academic achievement, and class type according to video production classes and real-time video classes in the on-contact learning situation due to the COVID-19 epidemic. The subjects of the study were 122 students enrolled in the nursing department at two universities. As a result of the study, the quality of the class was high in real-time video classes (t=-2.69, P=0.02), learning immersion was high in video production classes (t=1.14, P=0.28), and academic achievement was high in video production classes (t=4.24, P=0.01). Depending on the type of class, the effect on academic achievement is learning immersion in production video classes (β=.37, p<.001) has the most influence, and in real-time video classes, class quality (β=.29, p<.001) had the most influence on academic achievement. Based on the results of this study, it is suggested that it is necessary to develop a strategy for instructional design suitable for class types to improve academic achievement in an on-contact environment.

  • In this paper, we present a DirectShow-based retrieval and playback subsystem of DVR(Digital Video Recorder), which supports real-time playback of stored video data and synchronized playback among several video channel data. The effectiveness of out proposed design is verified through experiments with a DVR system implementing the proposed design.

  • 3D GIS(Geographic Information System) processes, analyzes and presents various real-world 3D phenomena by building 3D spatial information of real-world terrain, facilities, etc., and working with visualization technique such as VR(Virtual Reality). It can be applied to such areas as urban management system, traffic information system, environment management system, disaster management system, ocean management system, etc,. In this paper, we propose video visualization technology based on 3D geographic information to provide effectively real-time information in 3D geographic information system and also present methods for establishing 3D building information data. The proposed video visualization system can provide real-time video information based on 3D geographic information by projecting real-time video stream from network video camera onto 3D geographic objects and applying texture-mapping of video frames onto terrain, facilities, etc.. In this paper, we developed sem i-automatic DBM(Digital Building Model) building technique using both aerial im age and LiDAR data for 3D Projective Texture Mapping. 3D geographic information system currently provide static visualization information and the proposed method can replace previous static visualization information with real video information. The proposed method can be used in location-based decision-making system by providing real-time visualization information, and moreover, it can be used to provide intelligent context-aware service based on geographic information.
