사출성형시 굴절율 변화를 고려하기 위한 플라스틱 비구면 렌즈의 광선추적기법 (Ray Tracing of a Plastic Aspheric Lens by Considering Index Distribution Induced from Injection Molding)

  • The present study covers an integrated simulation method to evaluate optical performance of an aspheric plastic lens by connecting an injection molding analysis with a ray tracing simulation. Traditional ray tracing methods have based on the assumption that the optical properties of a lens are homogeneous throughout the entire volume. This assumption is to a certain extent unrealistic for injection-molded plastic lenses because material properties vary at every point due to the injection molding effects. To take into account the effects of the inhomogeneous optical properties of the molded lens, a numerical scheme is developed to calculate the distribution of refractive index induced from the injection molding process. This index distribution is then reflected onto CODE $V^{(R)}$ simulation and used to calculate ray paths in inhomogeneous media. The proposed tracing scheme is implemented on the tracing of an aspheric lens for a mobile phone camera module.

  • 광선 추적 기반의 렌더링은 래스터화 기반의 렌더링보다 훨씬 더 사실적인 이미지를 생성한다. 하지만 넓은 시야와 높은 디스플레이 갱신 속도를 요구하는 헤드 마운티드 디스플레이(HMD) 시스템을 대상으로 이를 구현할 때에는 여전히 많은 연산량으로 인하여 부담스럽다. 또한, HMD 화면에 고품질 이미지를 표시하기 위해서는 시각적으로 성가신 공간적/시간적 앨리어스를 줄이기 위해 픽셀당 충분한 수의 광선 샘플링을 수행해야 한다. 본 논문에서는 최근 Kim 등[1]이 제시한 선택적 포비티드 광선 추적법을 확장하여 주어진 HMD 시스템에서 고전적인 Whitted-스타일 광선 추적 수준의 렌더링 효과를 효율적으로 생성해주는 실시간 렌더링 기법을 제안한다. 특히, GPU의 광선 추적 하드웨어를 통한 가속과 시간 제한을 둔 렌더링 방법의 결합을 통하여 고속의 HMD 광선 추적에 적합한 사람의 시각 시스템에 매우 효율적인 적응적 광선 샘플링 방법을 제안한다.

  • This paper gives the way of analyzing internal noise of rolling stocks which is urgently required by civilians. Triangular beam method among ray tracing techniques is utilized to compute noise distribution of rolling stocks. Noise source and transmisstion loss of several sections from experimental work are included in this calculation. Ray tracing technique is found useful to compute big structures like rolling stocks.

  • Aspherical lens design method named ray reverse tracing method is introduced. Differently from the traditional design method, the ray reverse tracing method traces the shape and location of a real object by use of its virtual image. From the result, it was convinced that spherical aberration free aspherical lens could be designed by use of the ray reverse tracing method. Furthermore, it could reduce the degree of dependence of optical characteristics on designer's ability, because deformation terms and optimization can be eliminated, which has been performed in conventional lens design process.

  • The optic industry is a high value-added advanced technology industry combined with the precision machine industry and the digital electronics industry. The aspheric lens, one of optic parts, is a key technology having a significant influence on the performance of optic equipment. So this study relates to designing an aspheric lens to which a ray-tracing method is applied. In the ray-tracing method, a refractive index of material is used, which take an advantage that the location of a light source and incident angle can be fixed, unlike the ray back-tracing scheme.

Efficient Process Network Implementation of Ray-Tracing Application on Heterogeneous Multi-Core Systems

  • As more mobile devices are equipped with multi-core CPUs and are required to execute many compute-intensive multimedia applications, it is important to optimize the systems, considering the underlying parallel hardware architecture. In this paper, we implement and optimize ray-tracing application tailored to a given mobile computing platform with multiple heterogeneous processing elements. In this paper, a lightweight ray-tracing application is specified and implemented in Kahn process network (KPN) model-of-computation, which is known to be suitable for the description of real-time applications. We take an open-source C/C++ implementation of ray-tracing and adapt it to KPN description in the Distributed Application Layer framework. Then, several possible configurations are evaluated in the target mobile computing platform (Exynos 5422), where eight heterogeneous ARM cores are integrated. We derive the optimal degree of parallelism and a suitable distribution of the replicated tasks tailored to the target architecture.

광선추적법을 이용한 비파괴 내부 결함 모델 및 해석 (Modeling and Analysis of a Ray Tracing Method for Non-Destructive Testing for Internal Defects)

  • Modeling and analysis using a ray tracing method for internal defects were described. Reflection and refraction of rays on the interface of defects were modeled using the Harvey model and the Lambertian model. The diffraction on the interface of defects affected the incoming signals and it could evaluate any defects in the matter and its signal would be analyzed with the ray tracing simulation. The simulation results were compared with actual detecting signals and the ray tracing model was shown in good agreement with experimental data. This method has a possibility to be used as wave propagation modeling in non-destructive testing.

  • Ray-tracing algorithm can synthesize photo-realistic image, but its computational cost is high. Fast image synthesis based on ray-tracing is one of the most important topics in computer graphics. There are two methods for high speed ray-tracing. First this paper discusses various load distribution and scheduling of multiprocessor for high sped ray-tracing. Then this paper proposes load distribution strategies based on them, implements and evaluates it on multiprocessor. The experiment results show that the proposed method can solve the unbalanced load problem of dynamic load distribution, and scan line method and dot method among a kind of static load distribution strategies disperse the load efficiently.

가속 방법을 이용하는 전파 광선 추적법에 관한 연구 (A Study on Ray Tracing Method for Wave Propagation Prediction with Acceleration Methods)

  • 본 논문에서는 개선된 가시 트리 구조와 가시면 검색을 위해 효율적인 방법을 적용한 광선 추적법을 제안한다. 비슷한 특성을 갖는 트리의 노드를 재생성하지 않는 개선된 가시 트리 구조를 사용하였으며, 가시면 판별을 위해 묶음 광선(packet ray) 개념 검사점을 비균일하게 분포시키는 방법으로 경로 탐색 성능을 개선하였다. 충돌검사에서 묶음 광선를 사용함으로써 3.3배의 속도 개선을 이루었으며, 비균일 검사점 분포를 통해 1.11배의 성능향상을 이루었다. 본 광선추적법을 적용한 결과의 경우, 경로 손실에서 Rh4S 에러가 1.9 dB 발생하여 높은 정확도를 제공할 수 있음을 보였다.
