  • In this paper, we propose some nonparametric subset selection procedures for scale parameters based on rank-likes. The proposed procedures are compared to the Gupta-Sobel's parametric prcedure through a small-sample Monte Carlo study. The results show that the nonparametric procedures are quite robust for heavy-tailed distributions, but they have somewhat low efficiencies.

  • A direct method for fitting analysis-of-variance models to unbalanced data is presented. This method exploits sparsity and rank deficiency of the matrix and is based on Gram-Schmidt orthogonalization of a set of sparse columns of the model matrix. The computational algorithm of the sum of squares for testing estmable hyphotheses is given.

  • Since our physical world cannot be modeled as rigid body, deformable object models are important. For real-time simulation of elastic object, it must be guaranteed by its exact solution and low-latency computational cost. In this paper, we describe the boundary integral equation formulation of linear elastic body and related boundary element method(BEM). The deformation of elastic body can be effectively solved with 1ow run-time computational costs, using precomputed Green Function and fast low-rank updates based on Capacitance Matrix Algorithm.

  • It is interesting to know the behavior of a network from its structure. One interesting topic is to find a relation between the existence of a positive equilibrium of the reaction network and its structure. One approach to study this topic is using the concept of deficiency. In this work, we develop an algorithm and show an elementary proof of the relation based on the algorithm and deficiency.

  • In this paper we introduced a new score generating function for the rank dispersion function in a multiple linear model. Based on the new score function, we derived the asymptotic relative efficiency, ARE(11, rs), of our score function with respect to the Wilcoxon scores for the generalized F distributions which show very flexible distributions with a variety of shape and tail behaviors. We thoroughly explored the selection of r and s of our new score function that provides improvement over the Wilcoxon scores.

  • Experimenters often want to test whether a specific treatment is really better than the others. In such a problem we derive the likelihood ratio test and compare the result with other multiple comparisons procedures. A nonparametric procedure based on ranks is also considered. Pitman efficiency of the rank-sum procedure relative to the likelihood ratio test is computed.

  • This paper proposes a new framework for control system design, called the data-based control approach or data space approach, in which the input and output data of a dynamical system is directly and solely used to analyze or design a control system without the employment of any mathematical models like transfer functions, state space equations, and kernel representations. Since, in this approach, most of the analysis and design processes are carried out in the domain of the data space, we introduce some notions of geometrical objects, e.g., the openloop and closed-loop data spaces, which serve as the system representations in the data space. In addition, we establish a relationship between the open-loop and closed-loop data spaces that the closed-loop data space is contained in the open-loop data space as one of its subspaces. By using this relationship, we can derive the data-based stabilization condition for a linear time-invariant discrete-time system, which leads to a linear matrix inequality with a rank constraint.

  • This article is to analyze the service efficiency of public sector using Data Envelopment Analysis(DEA). We tried to measure the public service quality and overall satisfaction by using several DEA models, degree of combination and top2box which is a little bit different methodology from traditional ones. We used CCR, Super-efficiency and Slack based measure(SBM) model in DEA to measure public service efficiency of the 16 public institutions(7 City Halls and 9 Provincial offices). Since the traditional method based on the measurement model(CCR, BCC) has the fundamental problems without taking account of the existence of slacks inputs and outputs in several efficient units, we suggest to measure the exact amount of efficiency and inefficiency of the public sector and rank analysis many efficient units exactly through the slacks-based measure model(SBM)

  • To retrieve complex data such as images in multimedia information, we need the content-based retrieval methods based on the visual properties rather than keywords. In this paper, a contrent-based image retrieval system is desinged and implemented to retrieve images using the features of images such as colors, lines and intensity vetor features when a visual query inputs. The contents for image retrievals are the color features extracted from the color component of 16 blocks of the image, th eline features extracted form 4 lines in the image and the shape features extracted from the intensity vectors of the 16 blocks. We can either use a whole image or a sketch image for query. As the experimental results demonstrate the precision 91% the recall 33% and the average rank 3.1 the retrieval performance is found to be high. The experimental results indicate that the retrieval using the weighted features have led to substantial improvement in the percision and performance of system.

  • Compared with traditional itinerary planning, intention-oriented itinerary recommendations can provide more flexible activity planning without requiring the user's predetermined destinations and is especially helpful for those in unfamiliar environments. The rank and classification of points of interest (POI) from location-based social networks (LBSN) are used to indicate different user intentions. The mining of vehicles' physical trajectories can provide exact civil traffic information for path planning. This paper proposes a POI category-based itinerary recommendation framework combining physical trajectories with LBSN. Specifically, a Voronoi graph-based GPS trajectory analysis method is utilized to build traffic information networks, and an ant colony algorithm for multi-object optimization is implemented to locate the most appropriate itineraries. We conduct experiments on datasets from the Foursquare and GeoLife projects. A test of users' satisfaction with the recommended items is also performed. Our results show that the satisfaction level reaches an average of 80%.
