Selfies are a popular form of photography. However, due to physical constraints, the compositions of selfies are limited. We present algorithms for creating virtual portraits with interesting compositions from a set of selfies. The selfies are taken at the same location while the user spins around. The scene is analyzed using multiple selfies to determine the locations of the camera, subject, and background. Then, a view from a virtual camera is synthesized. We present two use cases. After rearranging the distances between the camera, subject, and background, we render a virtual view from a camera with a longer focal length. Following that, changes in perspective and lens characteristics caused by new compositions and focal lengths are simulated. Second, a virtual panoramic view with a larger field of view is rendered, with the user's image placed in a preferred location. In our experiments, virtual portraits with a wide range of focal lengths were obtained using a device equipped with a lens that has only one focal length. The rendered portraits included compositions that would be photographed with actual lenses. Our proposed algorithms can provide new use cases in which selfie compositions are not limited by a camera's focal length or distance from the camera.
In the fields of the cultural properties, the Infrared TV camera is being initiated to use instead of the Infrared photo film fo a better means to detect the description of drawings of the paintings. Seeing from the effect of transillumination, the Infrared TV camera with its long wave of visible spectrum that makes less absorption by the pigments and with the reflection rays passing through the base of colour layers makes it able to findbase drawing and letters. The detection range of transillumination by the infrared rays depends on the kinds of pigments, lines of the base drawing and wave length of the infrared rays. In our country, it was the first time to detect by our Conservation Science Dep't of The Research Institute of Cultural Properties by means of using Infrared TV camera to determine the mural paintings on the Josadang, Busuk Temple, resulted in an epoch-making success, that we have come to know the painting technique methods, how to treat for its conservation and making replica, reproduction, etc.
WDR(Wide Dynamic Range) camera has been recently introduced to provide good detailed information for the extremely dark or white area. The double shuttering camera acquires two pictures with different exposure time for the same scenes so that each image has its unique information as for the bright/dark area. Those images are combined internally to produce an image with enough details. This paper proposes a NN based method to control the exposure time of the WDR camera. Our goal is to develop a method to automatically control the exposure time like human decision. A neural model is trained to determine to increase/decrease shutter time for the given situation. The ability to adapt to unknown situation is shown for the sample cases.
In this study, the radiometric signal modeling is performed for the high resolution earth observation system in visible spectral range from space. The medeling includes solar radiation as a source of the radiometric energy, atmosphere and surface albedo of earth, and the spaceborne camera characteristics for the integrated modeling. The final output of the radiometric modeling is the number of electron produced by the detector of electro-optical camera.
In this paper, we describe reconstructed 3D-urban modeling techniques for laser scanner and CCD camera system, which are loading on the vehicle. We use two laser scanners, the one is horizon scanner and the other is vertical scanner. Horizon scanner acquires the horizon data of building for localization. Vertical scan data are main information for constructing a building. We compared extraction of edge aerial image with laser scan data. This method is able to correct the cumulative error of self-localization. Then we remove obstacles of 3D-reconstructed building. Real-texture information that is acquired with CCD camera is mapped by 3D-depth information. 3D building of urban is reconstructed to 3D-virtual world. These techniques apply to city plan. 3D-environment game. movie background. unmanned-patrol etc.
In a multi-camera measurement system, the determination of the external parameters is one of the vital tasks, referred to as the calibration of the system. In this paper, a new geometrical calibration method, which is based on the theory of the vanishing line, is proposed. Using a planar target with three equally spaced parallel lines, the normal vector of the target plane can be confirmed easily in every camera coordinate system of the measurement system. By moving the target into more than two different positions, the rotation matrix can be determined from related theory, i.e., the expression of the same vector in different coordinate systems. Moreover, the translation matrix can be derived from the known distance between the adjacent parallel lines. In this paper, the main factors effecting the calibration are analyzed. Simulations show that the proposed method achieves robustness and accuracy. Experimental results show that the calibration can reach 1.25 mm with the range about 0.5m. Furthermore, this calibration method also can be used for auto-calibration of the multi-camera mefasurement system as the feature of parallels exists widely.

The purpose of this paper is to develope the analytical calibration model and to present its efficiency and problems for elimination of systematic errors. For this purpose, lens distortion in close-range photogrammetry is analized. From the obtained accuracy of object space coordinates, it is found that the calibration model included only $K_1$ term is effective for metric camera, and film deformation has to be considered not only in non-metric camera but also in metric camera.

A key component of autonomous navigation of intelligent home robot is localization and map building with recognized features from the environment. To validate this, accurate measurement of relative location between robot and features is essential. In this paper, we proposed relative localization algorithm based on 3D reconstruction of scale invariant features of two images which are captured from two parallel cameras. We captured two images from parallel cameras which are attached in front of robot and detect scale invariant features in each image using SIFT(scale invariant feature transform). Then, we performed matching for the two image's feature points and got the relative location using 3D reconstruction for the matched points. Stereo camera needs high precision of two camera's extrinsic and matching pixels in two camera image. Because we used two cameras which are different from stereo camera and scale invariant feature point and it's easy to setup the extrinsic parameter. Furthermore, 3D reconstruction does not need any other sensor. And the results can be simultaneously used by obstacle avoidance, map building and localization. We set 20cm the distance between two camera and capture the 3frames per second. The experimental results show :t6cm maximum error in the range of less than 2m and ${\pm}15cm$ maximum error in the range of between 2m and 4m.

This study had been aimed to conduct the camera calibration on VLBI antenna in the Space Geodetic Observation Center of Sejong City with a low-cost digital camera, which embedded in a mobile phone to determine the three-dimension position coordinates of the VLBI antenna, based on stereo images. The initial values for the camera calibration have been obtained by utilizing the Direct Linear Transformation algorithm and the commercial digital photogrammetry system, PhotoModeler $Scanner^{(R)}$ ver. 6.0, respectively. The accuracy of camera calibration results was compared with that the camera calibration results, acquired by a bundle adjustment with nonlinear collinearity condition equation. Although two methods showed significant differences in the initial value, the final calibration demonstrated the consistent results whichever methods had been performed for obtaining the initial value. Furthermore, those three-dimensional coordinates of feature points of the VLBI antenna were respectively calculated using the camera calibration by the two methods to be compared with the reference coordinates obtained from a total station. In fact, both methods have resulted out a same standard deviation of $X=0.004{\pm}0.010m$, $Y=0.001{\pm}0.015m$, $Z=0.009{\pm}0.017m$, that of showing a high degree of accuracy in centimeters. From the result, we can conclude that a mobile phone camera opens up the way for a variety of image processing studies, such as 3D reconstruction from images captured.
In this paper, we propose a high-resolution disparity map generation method using a low-resolution time-of-flight (TOF) depth camera and color camera. The TOF depth camera is efficient since it measures the range information of objects using the infra-red (IR) signal in real-time. It also quantizes the range information and provides the depth image. However, there are some problems of the TOF depth camera, such as noise and lens distortion. Moreover, the output resolution of the TOF depth camera is too small for 3D applications. Therefore, it is essential to not only reduce the noise and distortion but also enlarge the output resolution of the TOF depth image. Our proposed method generates a depth map for a color image using the TOF camera and the color camera simultaneously. We warp the depth value at each pixel to the color image position. The color image is segmented using the mean-shift segmentation method. We define a cost function that consists of color values and segmented color values. We apply a weighted average filter whose weighting factor is defined by the random walk probability using the defined cost function of the block. Experimental results show that the proposed method generates the depth map efficiently and we can reconstruct good virtual view images.
