In this paper we propose the compact three-layer EBG structure. The unit cell of the proposed EBG structure is composed of a square patch in the upper layer and a square ring stripline in the lower layer that are connected to the ground plane through conducting vias. Reflection phase analysis method and tangential transmission method were considered to accomplish effective EM simulation and measurement. EM simulation results indicate that bandgap characteristics of the EBG structure using both methods is nearly identical. Parametric studies have been performed with the EM simulator to analyze the properties of the EBG structure by investigating the phase shift of the normally incident plane wave, and the transmission measurements between simple monopole antennas positioned near the EBGstructure have been done. The operating fiefuency bandgap of the proposed EBG structure is about 34 $\%$ lower than the conventional EBG structure with the same size. Measured results show bandgap from 0.930 GHz to 0.945 GHz.

In this paper, the design and fabrication of a transmit/receive(T/R) module for Ka-band phased array radar is presented. A 5bit digital phase shifter and digital attenuator were used in common for both transmitter and receiver considering unique Ka-band characteristic. The circulator was excluded in the T/R module and was placed outside T/R module. The transmitting power per element antenna is designed to be about 1 W and the noise figure is designed to be below 8 dB. The designed T/R module RF part has a compact size of $5\;mm{\times}4\;mm{\times}57\;mm$. In order to implement the T/R module, MMICs used in T/R module was separately assessed before assembly of the designed T/R module. The transmitter of the fabricated T/R module shows about 1 W at 5 dBm unit module input power and the receiver shows a gain of about 20 dB and a noise figure of below 8 dB as expected in the design stage.
This study was conducted to develop an algorithm for determination of abnormal body temperature in piglets through skin and core temperature database at normal condition. 5 piglets (mean BW : 46 kg) were employed for the experiment. They were adapted in the individual metabolism cage set at $22.5{\pm}2.0^{\circ}C$ of room temperature for 2 weeks before the measurement of body temperature. Ear, neck, head and subcutaneous neck temperature (as core temperature) of piglets were measured for every 1 minute during 30 consecutive days through 1mm k-type thermocouple wire and NI-devices (National Instruments Corporation, Austin, Texas, USA). Body temperature data were accumulated and integrated into the 1 day unit. Change of daily mean skin and core body temperatures in piglets were lowest at around 06:00, highest at around 14:00 and gradually decreased until the day after 06:00. Each skin temperatures were varied with the measuring site and largely depended on the room temperature changes. Established database of skin and core body temperature in piglets through this study can be applied to develop an algorithm for monitoring and determining the abnormal condition of animal by using radio frequency identification.

Recently, the radio navigation method utilizing the GPS(Global Positioning System) satellite information is widely used as the method to measure the position of objects. As GPS applications become wider and fields based on various positioning information emerge, new methods for achieving higher accuracy are required. In the case of autonomous vehicles, the INS(Inertial Navigation System) using the IMU(Inertial Measurement Unit), and the DR(Dead Reckoning) algorithm using the in-vehicle sensor, are used for the purpose of preventing degradation of accuracy of the GPS and to measure the position in the shadow area. However, these positioning methods have many elements of problems due not only to the existence of various shaded areas such as building areas that are continually enlarged, tunnels, underground parking lots and but also to the limitations of accumulation-based location estimation methods that increase in error over time. In this paper, an efficient positioning method in a large underground parking space using Fingerprint method is proposed by placing the AP(Access Points) and directional antennas in the form of four anchors using WLAN, a popular means of wireless communication, for positioning the vehicle in the GPS shadow area. The proposed method is proved to be able to produce unchanged positioning results even in an environment where parked vehicles are moved as time passes.
The environment in the ICU leads to negative changes in a patient's usual sleep pattern and so contributes negatively to the patient's health condition as compared to patients in general wards. Therefore, it is thought that an important nursing intervention would be to identify the relation between noise and sleep patterns which play an important role in illness recovery. The purpose of the present study was to explore the relationship between noise in the ICU and the sleep pattern of patients admitted to the ICU. A descriptive correlation design was used to examine the relationship. Thirty-four subjects were recruited from a Medical ICU (MICU), Surgical ICU (SICU) and Coronary Care Unit (CCU) at a large university hospital in Suwon. Data were collected from September 28 to October 31 in 1999. In the present study, noise was categorized into noise level and patients' perception of noise. The objective noise level was measured using the A-Weighted Sound Level Meter. The patients' preception of noise was measured using a self-reported questionnaire developed by the researcher. Sleep patterns in this study includes both quantity and quality of sleep. These were measured using open ended questionnaires and the 'Korean Sleep Scale A' developed by Oh, Song, Kim(1998). The data was analyzed using the SPSS-WIN to test the research question, Pearson product moment correlation coefficient was run. Ancillary analysis were conducted with demographic variables to determine their relation to the main study variables. For the ancillary analysis, t-test and one-way ANOVAs were performed. The results of the present study are summerized as follows : 1. The total mean of objective noise level (10pm-6am) was 56.2dB. The means for night time noise level in individual ICUs for the SICU, MICU and CCU, were 58.7dB, 58.6dB and 48.3dB, respectively. The total mean for patients' noise perception was 42.8 out of a maximum possible score of 76. For item means of noise perception, the one ranked highest was "conversations between doctors and nurses" (3.2). The one ranked lowest was "noise from the radio" (1.2). Regarding the degree of perception for each type of noise source, the one ranked highest was "equipment noise" (2.6), the second was "conversation between medical staff" (2.4), the third was "conversation between patients, caregivers and visitors" (2.3), and the one ranked lowest was "environment noise" (1.8). 2. Looking at quantity of sleep of ICU patients, the mean nocturnal sleep time was found to be 4.9 hours. The total mean of sleep quality for ICU patients was 21.0 out of a maximum possible score of 40. 3. The relationship between perception of noise and quantity of sleep was statistically significant(r= - .41, p<.05). The relationship between perception of noise and quality of sleep was also statistically significant(r= - .47, p<.01). The results of the study indicate that personal perception of noise is related to sleep patterns. Therefore, it is suggested that nursing interventions be developed to reduce the degree of personal perception of noise and, thus, decrease sleep pattern disturbances in patients in the ICU.

A high-capacity battery installed in a hybrid vehicle or electric vehicle is used to power, or as a power supply for, electric sub-assemblies. In order to use a high-capacity battery as a power supply for electric sub-assemblies, such as an electronic control unit or for lighting, radio, and navigation, there is a need for a DC converter that changes a high voltage of 240-400V to a low voltage of 12-14V, which is done with a low-voltage DC-DC converter (LDC). An LDC undergoes long-term aging so as to reduce latent defects in the production process. With regard to the usual aging method, an LDC is a DC-DC converter. So, a DC power supply is connected and used as input, and a programmable DC electronic load is the output. For stable operation, a product having a larger capacity by 10% (compared to an LDC) is used, and has a structure where electric power is dissipated into 100% heat. So, there is a problem with volume, based on the use of two pieces of equipment to test the LDC, and another problem based on the generation of heat in the programmable DC electronic load. Hence, this paper suggests a load test method as a way of recycling, where a significant portion of the electricity dissipated as heat in a load tester is returned as input. The method realizes savings of 80% or more in the electricity dissipated as heat through improvement in the efficiency of the recycling load tester.

Due to the following reasons, the management of curtain wall parts and material is very Important. Firstly, curtain wall work is one of the main works in High-rise building construction for it takes about $10{\sim}15%$ of the total construction cost. Secondly, the whole process of curtain wall work including manu acture, delivery, storage, installation and maintenance is very complicated and sometimes more than 30 companies involve in the process. Thus there are many control points for curtain wall units. Thirdly, there are not enough space on site for material storage and this situation is more serious for sites in urban area. The purpose of this research is to validate an information systems using RFID technology that is developed to manage the curtain wall units following the process of curtain wall work. For the validation, the cycle times of curtain wall work before and a ter the system was used. The results show that using the systems shorten the cycle time of the curtain wall work. Thus it is concluded that the system can increase the efficiency of managing curtain wall work.
This study has been conducted on the nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design in quasi experimental basis and newly born premature infants from intensive care unit of G Medical University Hospital in Inchon Metropolitan were selected in two groups of 21 infants each. The first group for experimental and the other for control. Data has been collected form October 30, 1997 to August 29, 1998. For the experimental group tactile and kinesthetic stimulation was applied 2 times a day for 10 days(10 : 00~11 : 00 hours in the morning and 17 : 00~18 : 00 in the afternoon). As a weight weighing instrument. electronic indicator scale(Cas Co. korea) was used. To determine urine cortisol concentration level in stress hormone, radio immune assay method was used. And high performance liquid chlomatography was used to determine urine norepinephrine, concentration level To determine behavior status, tools developed by Anderson et at(1990) and remodeled by Kim Hee-Sook(1996) were used. Collected data were analyzed with the SAS program using x$^2$-test, student t-test, repeated measures ANOVA and paired t -test. The result were as follow. 1. As for the daily weight gain. the experimental group showed first change in weight and this group also showed higher weight in the average weight than the control group. Statistically, however, there was no significant factor between the two group. 2. The cortisol concentration in urine showed decrease in the experimental group norepinephrine concentration in urine showed increase in both experimental and control groups. No statistical significance was shown between the two groups. 3. In the aspect of behavior status. the experimental group showed statistical significance by showing inactive in the state of alert and conversion to a positive state than the control group. In conclusion, the sensory stimulation in this study showed a positive aspect through there was no statistical significance in the weight gain and urine stress hormone concentration. In the behavior status, there was statistical significance in the frequency of staying inactive in the state of alert and conversion to a positive state.
This study was performed to develop an active tire pressure control system that can adjust tire pressure to the optimum level according to traveling and working condition of agricultural tractor. For the development of active tire pressure control system, pneumatic supplier, solenoid valve block including pneumatic supply line, infinite rotation type pneumatic supplier with rotary joint unit, tire pressure transceiver module and control algorithm were developed. Also, tire simulator was developed. Using this tire simulator, the feasibility of each part constructing actual system was tested by checking the performance. The average communication success ratio was 98.3% between tire pressure transmitter and receiver module according to the various tire rotational speed and data receipt position of receiver module. The communication performance of the developed transmitter and receiver module was very stable in any condition. The tire pressure control system was accomplished by using the proportional control algorithm in this study. Also tire pressure control performance of developed control system was analyzed by using the tire simulator. As a result of control performance analysis to the developed system, the developed control system took 307 seconds to inflate agricultural tractor's tire from 50 kPa to 180 kPa. In opposite case, it took 210 seconds. Also it was able to control the tire pressure accurately under ${\pm}0.9%$ (FS) in any condition.

The drastic growth of mobile communication and spreading of smart phone make the significant attention on Location Based Service. The one of most important things for vitalization of LBS is the accurate estimating position for mobile object. Focusing on IMU deployed in smart phone, we develop a hybrid positioning estimation framework with a combination of WPS. The developed approaches can strengthen the advantages of independent indoor applicability of IMU. The estimation of IMU is efficiently compensated by radio fingerprint based Wi-Fi Positioning System. We put a focus especially on the hybrid algorithmic framework. Compared on the existing approaches of WPS or IMU, we achieve the comparable higher performance on both of average error of estimation and deviation of errors. Furthermore test-bed based on smart phone platform is practically developed and all data have been harvested from the actual measurement of test indoor area. This can approve the practical usefulness of proposed framework.
