  • The aim of this study draws out the Green Index of a Seaport (GIS) that is comprehensive and coordinated approach to diminish the negative impacts of port operations using a Factor Analysis (FA) which can evaluate the level of cleanness of seaport. For this purpose, the questionnaires were sent to the experts and port stake holders, and received 75 out of 100. In this survey, Cronbach's alpha has the numerical value 0.76. Thus it means that this survey has internal consistency reliability. Overall, 15 components were selected from the literature review and five factors were extracted by factor analysis.

  • Non-working days owing to climatic factors have been negatively affected in productivity of construction, such as delays of project completion times, decrease productivity of construction. Especially non-working days of steel erection work is about 58 days, it is influenced deleteriously to estimating uncertain construction duration. To solve this problem, Construction Factory(CF) and sliding roof system installed CF's upper side are developed in korea recently. This study is proposed the design of sliding roof system through assess relation of requirements and technical characteristics using Quality Function Deployment(QFD). The basis data for applying QFD is collected from literature reviews and questionnaires/interviews targeting system developer, experts and researchers.

  • This study develops the evaluation model for e-Business company using analytic hierarchy process. As the first step of this study, we derived the appraisal standards based on the previous literature and the knowledge of experts from venture capitalists, security companies, credit evaluation companies, and consulting firms. In order to validate the evaluating factors in the models, this study was supported by analysts of top ranked venture capitalists in Korea. Through their assistance, this study can determine necessary evaluating factors that refined and deepened the models. Four expert groups, such as venture capitalists, credit analysts, analysts of security company and e-Business consultants, provide their knowledge for the determination of the weights of evaluating factors in the hierarchical model through the questionnaires and interviews. The results show that the weights of the evaluating factors differed by the maturity of e-Business company.

  • Tourism is one of the key economic drivers not only in Vietnam but also in the world. This study explores the awareness and perceptions of key stakeholders such as local residents, tourism businesses, and tourists on sustainable tourism development in the Mekong Delta in Vietnam. Both quantitative and qualitative research approaches have been used with the secondary and primary data to provide insights on the subject. The secondary data is from vast sources, including the governmental department of tourism, statistical departments, annual all-level governmental reports, businesses, and others. The primary data is from the survey by questionnaires with 230 enterprises, 720 local residents, and 670 tourists and from the semi-structured and in-depth interviews conducted with local residents, businesses, tourists, local authorities' officers, and especially with 5 experts who are also stakeholders of Mekong Delta tourism. The results will help the related authorities understand the awareness and perceptions of the key stakeholders and deliver valuable information and a concrete delineated roadmap toward sustainable tourism development of the research settings.

  • Current studies validate the Body Positive Scale (BP Scale) as a self-assessment instrument that captures four dimensions of the positive body image construct. We developed and evaluated a 17-item BP Scale using two focus group interviews and four independent samples (n = 1,379) of Korean women who completed online survey questionnaires. We generated an initial pool of items via literature review, content validation with experts, and focus group interviews, subsequently refining the items through exploratory analysis (Study 1). We confirmed the BP Scale's underlying dimensions with young Korean female samples (Study 2, Study 4) and with a community sample (Study 3). We also examined the construct validity, internal consistency, and test-retest reliability over a six-week interval. Overall, the results supported that the four-factor BP Scale demonstrates adequate validity and reliability in measuring positive body image among Korean women. The BP Scale provides a method for researchers and practitioners to understand and assess individuals' positive body image in a multifaceted manner.

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest policies to improve the price escalation system in a construction contract through a Policy Delphi technique. The Delphi, including two times questionnaires and a group discussion, was conducted by joining 14 experts. Also, the escalation provisions of various countries were examined. Results of the Delphi showed that the minimum fluctuation rate for price escalation was desirable at a level of 3%. To compute the fluctuation rate, calculating the price fluctuation of overall articles was more desirable than using price indices. A bidding date was more reasonable as the initial date of change in price. Losses caused by price change should be shared between contractor and owner; therefore a deduction rate should be introduced in price escalation. Meanwhile, overhead and profit should be adjusted in proportion to the fluctuation rate; but advance payment or the delayed construction amount should be deducted from the adjusted amount.

  • Increasing wages and decreasing skilled labors are problems awaiting solution. The development of automatic technologies contributes to accelerating the one of construction automation. Thus, this study is to suggest the way to develop the automated building construction system base on one performed in Japan in order to solve urgent problems of construction industry in Korea. Therefore interviews and questionnaires were performed based on experts who work for the automated building construction system field and analyzed through analytic hierarchy process. In doing so, it was the most important factor to develop a branch of automatic, mechanical or machine technologies for the automated building construction system. Especially the study indicated the importance of the technologies to substitute skilled labors such as a robot. This research could contribute to developing the automated building construction which is very unique and suitable for construction industry in Korea.

  • Cognitive map (CM) has long been used as an effective way of constructing the human thinking process. In literature regarding CM, a number of successful researches were reported, where CM based what-if analysis could enhance firm's performance. However, there exit very few researches investigating the CM generation method. Therefore this study proposes a GENCOM (Genetic Algorithm based Cognitive Map Generator). In this model combined with CM and GA, GA will find the optimal weight and input vector so that the CM generation. To empirically prove the effectiveness of GENCOM, we collected valid questionnaires from expert in S/W sales cases. Empirical results showed that GENCOM could contribute to effective CM simulation and very useful method to extracting the tacit knowledge of sales experts.

  • This study to find out key ingredients(KIs) of Six Sigma. Potential ingredients are selected from previous studies of success factors and ingredients of Six Sigma and TQM, and criteria of quality awards like MBNQA, EFQM, Deming and Korean National Quality Award(KNQA) are classified into 11 categories based on experts' opinion and affinity analysis. Irrelevant or ineffective potential ingredients are discarded by using factor analysis for the questionnaires answered by champions, MBBs and BBs of 90 Korean companies that have more than 3 years of experience in implementing Six Sigma. In addition, from the factor analysis, 3 factors are derived for each respectively except the managerial achievement category. Those 11 categories and 30 factors are defined as Six Sigma KIs.
